Long walk to the beach, esp carrying chairs, umbrella, etc. - need to buy a beach pass

Hello, we appreciate the lovely and positive thank you note you left in our house guest book! To clarify this review, our property listing in the first paragraph notes our one mile distance to Bay beaches, and there is no Eastham beach pass parking requirement at Campground Beach or several other Bay beaches in Eastham. The town manages daily parking for visitors and residents alike and information is readily available on the town's website.
Donna and Steve were quick to respond to inquiries as we prepared for a family vacation. The comfortable updated home is perfectly located between the Bay beaches and the Ocean beaches. Shopping for provisions in Orleans or night life in P-Town are easily accessible. The 1/2 acre fenced lot w/outdoor shower and fire pit is comfy and private. The kitchen is well provisioned and even has sharp knives.

This was our third time staying at the Urchin. We enjoyed family whiffle ball games in the yard, unwinding after the beach, reading, and eating dinner on the deck. The inside space is very inviting and comfortable. Great finished basement area too for the kids to hang out in.

We had a great time at the house and in the area. It was a perfect location for our son's weddding. The interior of the house reminded us of a cabin in Gatlinburg. The yard was was beautiful and we enjoyed several nights by the fire pit. We highly recommend this house and will rent it again on our next trip to the Cape.

Thanks David! We love Wellfleet oysters as well, best in the world! Thanks so much for your terrific review, we're so glad you enjoyed the house and this lovely part of the Cape. We hope to host you again!
Enjoyed the high lofted ceilings, having the King sized bed upstairs with it's own bathroom. The basement was also very nice when parts of the family wanted to stay up and watch a movie. The desk in the basement was also helpful for catching up on some work.

We loved this home! The Barking Urchin is quiet, private, spacious, and extremely comfortable. It is convenient to both ocean and bay beaches, and located near good local businesses. The kids loved the yard, the firepit, and the couches that seem to hug you whenever you sit down. Communication with the owners was excellent. I cannot recommend this home enough; when we come back to the Cape, we would happily return here!

Thank you so much for your lovely review! We are so glad that your family enjoyed our house, and we hope to host you again!
This house on a very quiet street was perfect for our party of 2 couples. The house was spotlessly clean, and was exactly as described. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen well -stocked and easy to prepare food in. The living area and outside deck (where we spent most of our time!) were very nice as well.
We had a minor issue which required contact with the owner who was very responsive. We would most definitely recommend this property!

Thank you for your review and we're so glad you enjoyed our house and Eastham, and hope we have the pleasure of hosting you again!
Clean, well-cared for property in a great Eastham location. The hosts are highly responsive. Recommend it and would stay again.
One thing to note: the 3rd bedroom is a loft, not private and has a skylight. But it has its own bathroom. Bring eye masks if you’re sensitive to morning light.

We stayed July 4th week with our family of 4 and my dad. The house is very spacious for our group of 5. It has a nice open area between the kitchen and tv room. The bathrooms and showers were great including the outdoor shower. The lawn is very well maintained and made for a fun play area for the boys. The location is very convenient near Eastham beaches and restaurants. Amenities also included cable and Netflix which was nice to relax with after long beach days. We will definitely book again.

Lovely home for a family getaway
The house is very clean and in a great location. It is bright and airy and Eastham is a wonderful place to vacation. The beaches are wonderful and you have your pick of great restaurants. Do not miss biking on the Rail Trail!
It would be useful for the owner to provide a few more basics: salt, pepper, matches for the grill, and a toaster to replace the toaster oven and an urgent care phone number and location. Other than that you had everything you needed.

About the host
Hosted by Donna or Steve Yonchak
We have owned the Barking Urchin since 2003, and use the house ourselves whenever we can, in the Fall and Spring. We love how pretty and unspoiled Eastham still is, how quiet our street and neighborhood are, and our easy walks to Campground or Thumpertown beaches (and the Hole in One) in the mornings! We keep our home to the highest standards that we would expect for a Cape family vacation home, and what we would expect for ourselves.
Why they chose this property
After three years of house hunting at the Cape, we were lucky to find the right one! Even with the easy proximity to Route 6, the property is ultimately quiet and peaceful, the best of access and privacy.
What makes this property unique
Easy access to the Bay (1 mile) while still being in a quiet residential neighborhood. Sunny, well-equipped home and kitchen. Private fenced in yard. Comfortable rooms, newer mattresses. Updated kitchen, dishwasher. A/C units. HDTV and broadband internet, WiFi. Finished basement family room. Hammock. Firepit. Washer/dryer downstairs. All the amenities you need for your Cape home away from home.
