The neighbors say that this was "The General's House." It is a beautiful, peaceful space for a quiet weekend. It is a wonderful place to listen to music, read, watch movies and play games. The main level includes a living room, hearth room, dining room, breakfast room, powder room, kitchen, office and Master bedroom and bath. The Master bedroom, dining room, breakfast room and sun room/office all have views of the forest. Upstairs are three bedrooms with queen beds. The upstairs bedrooms share one bath. Wild turkeys forage, chase each other like kids at a middle school dance, and roost in the trees as evening falls. Deer stroll the neighborhood and take afternoon naps in full sight from the house. Lately a fox has been seen crossing the hillside. The neighbor saw the turkeys form a group and face the fox down. Step outside in the evening and you may hear barred owls or barn owls chuckling and hoot-hooting.
The basement is spacious with couches and tvs. It has two carpeted rooms with college tv lounge sort of ledges where kids love to put sleeping bags. You will enjoy the nicely laid out, fully equipped kitchen. This house is in a neighborhood. 1.2 miles to grocery store, multiple restaurants, and shopping. 14 miles/27 easy minutes to the airport. Parts of the house have been updated, and parts are still original, with vintage 1969 chandeliers and cherub wallpaper. The main level includes updated travertine tile and beautiful warm wood paneling in the hearth room. The Master Bath is updated and has a walk in shower. Please note that some parts of the house are original. The entry, halls and powder rooms have 1969 wallpaper and elaborate 1969 chandeliers. (My 17 year old says they are beautiful and we should keep them forever.) The kitchen cupboards are also original. (and the dark stain has come back into style!) The appliances are all updated.
