It is ideally located only minutes from Glacier National Park, Whitefish Mountain Resort and the championship, Meadow Lake, 18- hole golf course. Local amenities such as pubs and eateries, bowling alley, parks with tennis and basketball courts and swimming pool, a grocery store, summer time farmers market and music in the park are all within walking distance. Our family friendly home-away-from home is comfortably appointed with: a modern, fully stocked kitchen, cozy fireplace, air conditioning, Free WiFi, and private back yard with a bar-b-que. Sleeping accommodations include 1 queen size bed and 1 king size bed. A portable baby crib is available upon request.

Wonderful stay!

We stayed here while visiting glacier national park. It was located close and had a great back yard. The whole house was clean and perfect for us! Glad we stayed here!

Cozy, clean home near Glacier

We loved coming home to this comfy place after our long days of hiking! Super clean and kitchen had everything we could possibly need. Would recommend for anyone visiting the area.

Short visit with family

We used this property for a long weekend visit with family. It was large enough to be able to have dinner and visit. It was also conveniently close to shops and Glacier.

Little House

Good location— close, easy drive to Glacier National Park and walking distance to shops and restaurants. The house had all the amenities needed and was a great place to stay after long days hiking. Check in and out process was made easy thanks to Sarah!

Great Location and home

Great house and location to Glacier National Park. Home is very nice and beds were very comfortable. We were able to walk to local restaurants and grocery stores . Restaurant recommendations were awesome ! We would definitely stay again . Thank you for having us in your lovely home !

Glacier National Park vacation

Our hosts were awesome. Location is perfect for visiting the park, Whitefish, Big Fork and we loved the Gunsight Saloon in town. House is tastefully decorated, well equipped and comfortable. King bed was incredibly comfortable. Great vacation, great town(Columbia Falls) quiet neighborhood and friendly folks..best of Big Sky country.

Very Nice Cottage in a Great Location

Updated cottage in a nice small town within 15-20 min easy drive to GNP. Whitefish about 20 min drive. Perfect for a couple or small family. Well stocked. Private backyard w/patio furniture & gas grill. Restaurants, coffee shops, and grocery store w/in walking distance. Great base from which yo explore the area.

What Home Away is all about!

This was a wonderful renovated small home with the look and feel of a mountain cabin with modern amenities. The gas fireplace, the knotty pine accents and modern appliances were great. the owner was very responsive and we can not say enough about the cleanliness and convenience to Glacier National Park. It was another great experience with Home Away!

Nice and cozy

Heaters were really nice, you can control the heat for each room. Small water heater, by the time the second person took a shower the water was cold. We loved the fire place, we used it every day.

Glacier Getaway

The "Little House" was the perfect resting place for our three day visit to Glacier National Park. There is a great backyard to grill or sit out and unwind after your day of sightseeing. It is perfectly located to downtown, so close in fact we actually walked to get groceries and pick up dinner. The home is immaculate and very cozy. The bed in the large bedroom is SO comfortable! Sarah was very accommodating when we asked if we could check in a day early, she got back to us within the hour. We would definitely love to come back and stay here on out next trip to the area. Thank you for sharing your "Little House" with us.

Glacier national home base

Little house in the big sky is the perfect place to stay for those wanting to experience Glacier national park and surrounding area. Location couldn’t be better. Town of Columbia falls is a quick 15 mile drive to the west entrance of park and smack dab in the middle of the adventures afforded in this area of Montana. Plenty of activity within Columbia Falls itself. Communication with owner, check in, amenities were all 10’s! Sarah was a Great resource to help with find / setup up guides for hikes, fishing and any other activity. We will be back.

A little charm

This little house is perfect - in a quiet neighborhood, a rustic charm both inside and out. I loved the flowers in the garden and the pots. There were just two of us, but it also have been perfect for two couples especially because it has two full baths. There was everything we needed in the kitchen and the living room was comfortable. We sat outside under the covered patio in the late afternoon. And we were grateful for the AC and the fans. There’s a grocery store a few blocks away. Sarah was very responsive. Just overall a good experience

Great Location for walking to local places

We were a little concerned when we drove up and saw the neighborhood. The houses were close to each other, and the backyard was smaller than we anticipated and had a cat that kept hanging around (I am allergic). But besides that, we had enjoyed our stay here. We were within walking distance of restaurant stores and a great farmer's market. The hosts were always available when needed and responded quickly, The accommodations were comfortable, but the air conditioning did not work while we were there. We had all the amenities we needed, and when we ran out the hosts placed extras on the porch for us. All in all we had a nice stay.

This little house is clean, comfortable, well furnished, and is provided with adequate supplies.

The house is small but is very adequate for 4 of us in a family. It is newly renovated and very well designed so that it provides plenty of storage areas for organizing our stuff in bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen. All supplies (towels, kitchenware, utensils, dishwasher and washing machine detergents, etc.) are very adequate. I even used the soy sauce they provided for my cooking. The only complaint is that we could hear train horns throughout the night. Overall, it’s a home away from home that we enjoyed every night when we returned from visiting Glacier NP. Thank you Sarah for keeping us in touch.

Perfect for our Glacier vacation

We loved staying in this house. It is an older house with some upgrades. We just felt very comfortable there. It was plenty spacious for the two of us. The kitchen was perfect for our needs, with a dishwasher and all the necessities, and enough counter space and table space for cooking and eating. We ate almost all of our meals in, or packed lunches for our hikes. And the grocery store, Smith’s, was a 4-minute walk away. They had a great selection and we found everything we needed there. Believe me, we visited it a lot. We flew in, so we had to get everything. But, the kitchen was nicely stocked with some of the staples, like coffee, and salt and sugar, and cooking oil, etc., so we were okay the first night. The beds were very comfortable and we slept great. A ceiling fan might have been nice, but that’s just what we’re used to. And the couch and TV were great for relaxing. Overall we had a wonderful time. Oh, and Glacier National Park is amazing.

What an Awesome Little House!

I decided to book a trip to Montana since I had never been, and chose this property. Shortly after, two friends decided to join me. A day after arriving, my nephew booked a spur of the moment plane ticket to fly out and join us. The house was perfect for the four of us! It was well stocked with everything we needed. It was within walking distance of a grocery store, bars, and restaurants, and a quick drive to Glacier National Park for daily visits there. The location of this house is everything!! I also took a day and drove to the Bison Range, which I highly recommend. I saw many, many bison, antelopes, deer, elk, and bald eagles. I also visited about ten local lakes (there was something very special about Echo Lake to me, not sure why). There is just so much to do nearby! We were able to easily get to Polebridge and Bowman Lake from the house as well (read: huckleberry bear claws!). On Thursdays, the Columbia Falls farmer’s market is a definite MUST and is a very short walk from the cabin (Polebridge Bakery is there to restock those huckleberry bear claws that “disappeared”). I cannot stress enough how awesome the farmer’s market is. I would like to thank the property owners for excellent communication and for opening their home to me and my family and friends. The memories we made will last a lifetime. Now, go book this house! 😁

HI! My name is Sarah and I will be your onsite host while you stay at Little House Under the Big Sky. I moved to Columbia Falls after graduating from college in 2005 and have made it my home ever since. I am the director of the local community college's campus recreation program. Through my professional contacts and personal love for the outdoors I have developed great relationships with local outfitters. I have had the opportunity to enjoy all the summer activities that Whitefish Mountain Resort offers and I am also an avid skier. In the summers I love to whitewater raft, float the rivers, kayak and fish. I am steeped in the recreational opportunities of Flathead Valley (Glacier National Park, Columbia Falls, Whitefish, Bigfork, Kalispell) and eager to share with you summer and winter activities. I will point you in the right direction to the most popular tourist attractions as well as the more off beat destinations you won't want to miss. I can recommend great outfitters for all the recreational opportunities the area has to offer. I live close to the Little House and vouch for how convenient it's location is to the mountain and to Glacier.

What makes this property unique

Little House History:
During the complete renovation in 2018, some of the Little House's history was discovered inside the walls. Built in 1895 as a one room cabin, the original builder of the Little House left few clues to his identity and the first location of the cabin. But, the exterior walls on the south side were lined with news papers from 1895. In 1912 the house was moved to it's present location and a lean to kitchen was added. Under layers of felt and wall paper, the north wall revealed the name of the depression day owner, Robert B, who in 1931 added the side bedroom and at long last indoor plumbing. Today, enjoy the Little House's beautiful new kitchen and baths, native pine tongue and groove ceiling and other special accents unique to this Glacier vacation get away.
