The perfect beach cottage getaway

We loved everything about our stay! This cottage is the perfect walking distance from most of the restaurants and bars. It’s quiet and has so much room in the front yard for corn hole or any other yard game you can bring! It’s newly renovated so don’t let the old reviews scare you - we did not see one single bug in the house and the decorations were cute and minimal. It was perfect for our young family of 4 to sleep at night and come back to for nap times in between the beach and exploring the island!

Avoid Vacasa Properties

The house is nice and located in a great spot. The issue is it's managed by Vacasa. Everytime I rent from them I'm sorry. We pulled up to house the grass was a foot tall and you have to walk through it to get into house. The floor in Kitchen was so dirty I went out and bought aMop Sonitor could clean it. Then no internet or TV. My grandkids were with us and it rained TV would have been nice since it was supposed to have it. They told me it would be fixed but not till after we left. They also told me they would call me to let me know about a refund...yeah no call.I booked theHouse I immediately paid I did my part. They did not provide what the ad promised. I paid for cleaning but I had to clean and I paid for internet and there was none. I had work to do while I was there I needed internet.Do yourself a favor and stay away from Vacasa

We booked this cottage for a last-minute family getaway with eight of us. It was a good fit for our needs and budget, and the location was great—walkable to the beach and nearby spots. The listing said three beds and a pull-out couch, but there were actually four real beds, which was a pleasant surprise! Plenty of towels were provided, including some beach towels—though not quite enough for a full house. The kitchen was fairly well stocked, and they provided dish soap, a sponge, and dishwasher pods. The outdoor shower was a nice touch, though it’s hidden in the greenery and easy to miss. Some quirks to note: the front door lock was very finicky. The code was long, and the keypad often flashed red midway, making us start over—very frustrating in the rain. We reported it to management. One night, we were lucky someone had stayed behind to let us in.The parking situation was confusing. You're supposed to park on the "north side" (tip: enter from 15th Street, not Jones), but it’s basically a grassy patch with a sign. After heavy rain, it completely flooded—we had ankle-deep water and even got stuck in a 4WD. Gravel would help a lot. There was also a sump pump alarm during the storm and a leaking sunroom window, but both were manageable. Don't run the coffee maker and microwave at the same time—it trips the breaker. And bring your own salt and pepper!Overall, the cottage is a bit dated but met our needs. With a few updates, it could be even better.

Lovely little beach house

This house has a little bit of a weird layout (one bedroom has no doors and other bedrooms have shared doorways) but it was perfectly comfortable for our group. We enjoyed how close it was to the beach, and the kitchen was decently stocked with cookware (minus a can opener!). I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to others.

Great Location & Space for a Group – Just a Few Quirks to Know

Great Location & Space for a Group – Just a Few Quirks to Know We booked this cottage for a last-minute family beach trip with eight of us. The price was great for what we needed, and overall we had a good stay. That said, there are a few things future guests might want to know: Pros: * The listing says 3 beds and a pull-out couch, but there were actually 4 real beds, which was a great surprise! * Lots of towels provided, including beach towels – though not quite enough for a full house, so pack extras just in case. * Outdoor shower is a nice touch for sandy feet, but it's hidden by greenery and easy to miss at first. * The kitchen was well-stocked with basics like dish soap, a sponge, and dishwasher pods. We didn’t cook much, but everything we needed seemed to be there. * Location is excellent – you can walk to restaurants, shops, and of course, the beach. Cons / Things to Be Aware Of: * The door lock was finicky. The code was long, and it often took 3–4 tries to get it to work. We reported it. * Parking is confusing. The listing says to park on the “north side,” but unless you have a compass on hand, that’s not super helpful. A graveled driveway would make this much easier. * When it rains, the driveway area floods. One night the water was ankle-deep and even our 4WD vehicle got stuck in the mud. Again, gravel would solve a lot here. * Don’t run the microwave and coffee maker at the same time – we learned the breaker can’t handle the combo! * No salt and pepper in the kitchen – not a big deal, just pack your own if you plan to cook. General Notes:
The cottage has a lot of charm, but it’s definitely showing its age. Some doorknobs are tricky, windows are dusty or cracked, and the appliances are a bit dated. Still, it gave us the space and location we needed for a fun weekend together. Would we stay again? Possibly – especially if the lock and driveway get some love. If you're easygoing and looking for a convenient beach spot that fits a group at a fair price, this place works!

Cottage stay

We could not access the property upon arrival due to lock issues. Four hours later we were able to enter. The bedrooms have limited privacy. The place is overpriced considering the updating needed. Other than that, it was comfortable.

Nice place to stay on sunny datys

The house is very nice, air conditioned and clean. All the listed amenities are available. Beds are very comfortable. Be sure not to go if a lot of rain is predicted. The lawn gets very boggy/marshy when there is a lot of rain. Parking is on the lawn, and you need to walk on the lawn to get to the street. Bring mosquito repellant! Make sure they provide you with the correct entrance code!

Sweet rustic home just off the main drag

This was a rustic beach home, fine for an affordable stay on Tybee, but near enough to Savannah too. The weather was not very cooperative (September). Rain flooded driveway and only the basics in kitchen (no can opener!). But overall, a lovely place. Very clean and quiet.

Beach Cottage on Jones Tybee Island, GA

The rental cottage was a good location and price but do not be FOOLED and rent it. We drove 8 hours to get there, & we walked in to a disastrous mess! Food down the walls, food particles on counter with some form of liquid spills, food particles and dirt in fridge and microwave, no broom, vacuum, or mop, hair balls on all linens and in floor, and the sheets had not been changed. They were wrinkled with sand in them. It listed a washer and dryer as an amenity and it had one but broken and unusable. Had we known this one thing we would not have booked it. There was patio furniture listed and there wasn't any. I cleaned with paper towels for 2 hours waiting on cleaning company as I had contacted them and 9pm rolled around and my littles were ready for bed. My husband drove 30 min to Savannah to buy over $100 worth of cleaning supplies. We also bought bed linens which was another $100. Cleaning company shows up after 10pm stays till a little over midnight which I helped them clean. Unloaded car and showered. It was 2am before we got in bed. (Side note: We swept & mopped the floor every morning and evening for 4 days before the water was not black!) On phone for over 5 hours the next three days contacting Vacasa for my first night refund and cleaning fee. I decided Tuesday I needed to enjoy my vacation. Called them on Saturday traveling home. We booked through VRBO. VRBO finally speaks with Vacasa and explains situation. We agreed to eacalate it to management. Vacasa was suppose to get back with us and it's been 8 days. It clearly states if you arrive to a rental and it does not have the things listed on ad you are eligible for a partial refund. You can have a different size bed and such but amenities listed were washer and dryer and patio furniture & we did not have patio furniture at all and a broken W & D. This was another Pitfall for our vacation as we packed lightly for 8 guests and had expectations of using washer and dryer. Had there been something else available to rent the first night we arrived we would had gone there as fast as possible. There were no availabilities for our length of stay. Not only do we not recommend Jones Cottage on Tybee Island, but we do not recommend Vacasa Management or booking through VRBO. We will never again use them. We came home to book our anniversary trip 2 weeks later & found a cute place. It was managed by Vacasa and we didn't even think twice about it. It was a quick find something else!

Nice but has issues

First arrival was good for the price. However, there were no temperature controls To be found and were very cold. When you walk in the stairs rails were rotted and a large nail almost got me several times. The sheets were dirty. We found Mascara on the pillow cases of one bed and sand in 2 of the beds. In one door frame, someone had attempted to scotch tape the door frame on. The back door would not lock We called and were told how to lock it, still no so we used the working lock of the front door.

False advertising

We arrived February 26, Saturday approximately 5:45ish and it was getting late. I originally gave the cottage a 4.5 without really paying attention. We were extremely tired, drove 11 hrs. In the morning we realized how bad the condition of this cottage was! We called Jamey Caldwell on Monday to let someone aware of the condition. We got approval Monday to leave through Jamey. We have sent current photos of the run down condition of this cottage. We are wanting a full refund! This cottage didn’t represent a 4.3 rating! And didn’t look like the photos! Please contact me. I have left messages and emailed and no one has gotten back to me since Jamey said I would get a refund.

Comfortable, clean and close to the beaches

Upon arrival, we were guided to park behind the house in the guest parking. It rained very well overnight and our vehicle was in 2" deep water the next morning. The water stayed for several days and we had to locate the vehicle to high ground, side of the house. Parking here is okay if there is no rain. Some parts of the yard was 4" deep. As for the interior, clean, easy to manuever, all amenities were easily available. Internet was good, dishes were there/clean, coffee machine, oven, dishwasher etc... Bring your own dish machine soap as there wasn't any. The refrigerator shelf (only one) is broken but if put in the correct position it will hold your items. The bathrooms were clean, well stocked as well as the bedrooms too. I would stay again. Just need to know the above things. Walking to the beach is good, just a few blocks away. Restaurants too are as close. Please don't let this stop you from renting, good place just has home issues that I am sure will be reviewed. Again, I would rent in the future.

Experience

It was nice with the exception that it got hot inside the house, we could not turn the thermostat down below 70, even emailed but never received a response, and I had 80 year old parents in the house, the side door on porch was broke and could not open door, looked like someone had been using a butter knife to get in and tore up door and lock, reported this with pictures and email to vasaca on Thursday when we got there and it was fixed Saturday afternoon, but the maintenance guy Robert Boothe was very helpful. Other than that it was a nice stay
