Cozy, well-appointed, beach bungalow-style condo just steps from the ocean

Whether you are looking to bike the trails, play in the sand, check out a great local band, or just relax on the porch, our Refuge on Rodney is the perfect location for couples or small families. Located just steps from the ocean and in easy walking distance to great restaurants and entertainment, park the car and ditch the keys, your feet can get you to where you want to be!

Saturday to Saturday weekly rentals only from mid-June through mid-September. Shorter-term rentals (2-night minimum) possible mid-May to mid-June and mid-September to end-September.

Please note:
- The entire property (front and back buildings and common areas) is smoke-free.
- While we love four-legged friends, allergies of the owners and some guests require that our condo be strictly pet-free.
- Unit 6 features a queen-size bed in each of the two bedrooms (with a light bedspread, two pillows, and two pillow shams on each bed) and a full-size pullout in the living room. Linens (sheets, towels) are NOT provided, but are easily rented from www.sheetsatthebeach.com.
- Laundry facilities are not available in the unit, but are in easy driving distance.

For an end-of-summer weekend getaway, Paul and Laura's condo was the perfect home base as we were spending days on the beach and the water. The rental was very clean and we lived on the closed in porch!

Labor Day Getaway

This unit is very lovely and perfect for our short stay with family. The lighting on the porch is very cozy, the kitchen is well stocked, and the large couch in the living area is perfect for lounging. The beach is of course just down the way, and the waves were very nice for body surfing. We would definitely stay again!

The rental was great for a family of three. Proximity to beach was awesome.

It was a great place for a short getaway with my family. The rental is well kept and homey inside. All amenities needed are there. Short walk to the beach from the rental was great when having a smaller child to bring along. Restaurant’s are within walking distance. I highly recommend this rental.

Loved it again

This was our second time staying here and, once again, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The unit was clean and everything was in working order. The owners made some improvements since we were there in 2018 and they were well done. Theres minimal surrounding noise other than the occasional people talking or kids having fun. Walk to the beach in less than 5 minutes. Owners are thoughtful and responsive. We love Dewey beach/this area and we love this property!

Here we are in Cape Henlopen State Park. We often ride our bikes to the park from Dewey via the Gordons Pond Trail. From the trail, the town of Lewes is just a few miles away and offers more great food and libations, shopping, and a whole lot of history. To get back to the Refuge on Rodney, you can reverse your trip on the Gordon's Pond Trail or take the Breakwater-Juntion Trail back to Rehoboth. This is one of our favorite fair-weather excursions along the beaches in DE!

Why they chose this property

We've spent years coming down to the beach for the summer and have loved every minute of it, so when this gem of a property became available -- and just six houses in from the ocean -- we jumped at the chance to turn our dream of having a place by the shore into a reality that we could share with others looking for an oceanside getaway.

What makes this property unique

Our condo has a cozy, well-appointed, boho feel, and is less than a minute's walk to the ocean.

The beach at Rodney Ave is not bordered by seaside hotels or other large buildings, so the light pollution is low, allowing for better star gazing and moon rise watching. Traffic on this street is reduced for the same reason, keeping street noise to a minimum. Being in the back building also keeps down whatever street noise there may be. Situated on the top floor, the unit gets plenty of good breezes and ample sunlight.
