*OPTIONAL ADD-ONS
1. Each day, the hosts can provide you with an inspiring note and question that sets the table for you to maximize your thinking and expand your mind to possibilities. ($10 extra a day for notes and questions)
2. Contemplate and Create with a Certified Coach on Site
Your host at the Sanctuary is a certified Leadership & Life Purpose Coach and is ready to meet you if you desire. Providing a safe, non-judgmental environment, you can engage with Christine to help you think through and process a variety of issues including your calling, life goals, leadership, connecting or re-connecting with God or work issues while taking a brisk walk around the farm or just sitting in the gazebo looking at the ripples on the pond or the majesty of the mountains.
This experience includes two nights lodging, two coaching sessions and contemplative questions so you leave with clarity or a plan to thrive in life. ($200 extra for a two night stay although many guests choose to have their second coaching session once they get back home and have a chance to do some "homework.").
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE: It is important to note that the Sanctuary is a place to unwind and unplug. We hope it's an opportunity to slow down, enjoy nature, and dream big. For that reason, we do not have wifi. Guests are welcome to use their own mobile hot spot, or if an emergency or need arises, guests can contact us about using a temporary hot spot.
The Sanctuary is also a working farm, so don't be alarmed if you hear the cows mooing or the sounds of a tractor or four wheeler.

Everything was perfect! The hosts were great, beautiful views out every window, and the apartment was better than advertised. Thank you for a great week and we hope to return soon!!
The Sanctuary was a beautiful, peaceful, and clean property. The thoughtful touches, the views, the comfortable rooms, and the welcoming environment made for a lovely retreat. We loved listening to the birds -30 different species captured by our Apps- made this a terrific place to stay.
Everything about Sanctuary Suite was perfect. Christine was a fabulous host and replied quickly to our questions. We like to check in, look around and then go out and do the tourist stuff. Once we checked in here though, we left briefly to visit the local grocery store to grab a few things so we could spend the evening sitting next to the fire pit. Thats where we sat all night taking in the sunset and glorious views. We only spent one evening here but will definitely be going back. It was so nice to get away from all of lifes hassels and just enjoy each others company.
I highly recommend a visit to the sanctuary. We originally booked for 1 week and loved it so much that we decided to extend our visit an additional week . The property is beautiful and the Mountain Views is amazing. My husband and I enjoyed using the fire pit near the pond and had an autumn picnic in the gazebo. The property is very walkable with many beautiful photo opportunities .The guest apartment is nicely decorated with a very comfortable bed . The bathroom has a bathtub and shower which I personally loved the bathtub ! We cooked most of our meals in the well stocked kitchen . The host ( Christine and Jason ) has put a lot of love and care in the property . Christine and Jason are a great ambassadors to the town of Bedford. They gave us suggestions of scenic attractions near by .In closing, if you are looking for a peaceful, beautiful place to stay , the sanctuary is the place ! 5 .
As promised, a real sanctuary. A small and hidden gem attached to a farmhouse, everything was spotless and clean like home. The farm grounds are beautiful, with a lovely view of the Peaks of Otter. This place is great for a couple or a solo traveller, a spot to unwind and unplug. It forced a change of pace and filled the day with activity — we went on three hikes including the challenging Sharp Top mountain, visited an apple orchard (and bought a peach sapling) and had excellent Thai and Indian dinners in Lynchburg, and enjoyed the bright stars and pure air. It was hard to leave and we would like to go back again soon.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and time away. The host went out of the way to make us feel welcome. The property is absolutely beautiful. We were able to completely relax and unplug. We are definitely going to stay here again.
This was a quaint little getaway. It was a beautiful suite located on a 17 acre farm. You could go out back and look over a pond and sit and a gazebo and look over mountains. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to go off the grid with no wifi and just enjoy some peace and quiet or time with a partner.
The property and house were beautiful. I can't even express how incredible the views are. Perfect place to come cook a meal after hiking and just take it all in.
The Sanctuary offered a beautiful, peaceful, and thoroughly enjoyable weekend. The space was clean and very comfortable. The hosts were responsive and very welcoming. We loved sitting by the lake and enjoying the peaceful quiet and beautiful views of the property and mountains. We will definitely be staying here again!
We stayed the weekend to celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary and this place is truly a sanctuary! Jason and Christine are wonderful hosts. We felt welcomed and had everything we needed, including a personalized message on the blackboard. We can tell how much work, love, and care is put into the place. With the beautiful views, the stocked fire pit, the nearby ATV trails, the fresh morning coffee, the game closet, and most of all the quality time together, we had the most amazing time!
Best time. You could not find any hotel that is better. Beautiful property stocked with more than you can imagine to keep you comfortable. Best hosts ...

Very peaceful and secluded. Only complaint is it had no Wifi.
You know when life has just gotten busy and you need a reset? And you have a favorite place that when you turn down “that road” and “that view” comes into sight and your soul just goes ….”ahhhh yes”? Well this is one of those places. The bed is super comfortable and we enjoyed not setting an alarm and just waking up whenever. The shower had wonderful water pressure and you could literally gaze out the window at the Peaks while you enjoyed your shower. Christine and Jason are lovely hosts and while engaging, they were also respectful of our privacy. We did a hike to Sharp Top and spent a day in Lynchburg renting bikes and riding for hours on the Blackwater Creek trails (highly recommend). I can’t think of a nicer, more peaceful place to stay in the area if you are considering visiting.
My boyfriend and I met up with a friend in the area and needed a place to crash overnight. Definitely nice coming to a cute little farmhouse after a long day of driving. Very cozy and well kept. If we're ever in the area we'd like to book again!

About the host
Hosted by Christine Kennedy
My husband and I lead busy work lives and after a season of burn out for both of us, we embarked on the journey of learning self care and how to de-plug. This led to the purchase of this 1860's farmhouse in 2013 and we began the renovation process with the goal of creating a working farm and homestead but also a space to truly experience peace, rest and to host guests so that they can experience it as well.
Life is still busy but we've learned how to "create Sanctuary" in our own lives and love providing a space for others to feel "sanctuary" as well.
Why they chose this property
Sanctuary is ideal for you if you want to get away from the "noise of life" and experience tranquility and all that farm life has to offer yet be close enough to town to get provisions and explore all that charming small town life has to offer. Additionally, being just a short 10 minute drive from the Blue Ridge Parkway this property is close to some spectular hikes.
