26 Salmon Drive is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath cabin situated on the Trinity River in the remote and beautiful historic mining town of Lewiston. Steelhead and salmon fishing right from the river bank of the property combined with the Bucktail drift boat access directly across the river makes this getaway the optimal location for fisherman and outdoor enthusiasts.

This cabin is nestled in the trees set back off the Trinity River with a quiet scenic view of the pine trees from the large covered porch, which we have found perfect for relaxing and grilling after a day on the river. Our actual property extends all the way to the river bank, across the river from Bucktail Hole, however the house itself is set back about 100 yards from the river itself.

The house includes a bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen complete with a new outdoor Weber gas grill. There is a dining table off the kitchen inside as well as a large dining table on the deck. This is a home away from home for us, so we try to keep all the typical cooking and dining essentials handy.

The master bedroom includes a queen size bed as well as a twin size day bed. The second bedroom has two extra long twin beds which is plenty of room for two adults. If you find yourself needing additional sleeping accommodations, we have a king size aero bed available as well. Linens and bath towels are provided as well as starter paper products.

**HD FLAT SCREEN!

The living room is conveniently adjacent to the kitchen and dining area with a 50' HD flat screen television with Direct TV. Free wireless internet. This house also has heating, air-conditioning, washer/dryer, and free long distance from the house phone. Smoke-free please and 'good' dogs welcome.

We recommend you bring your own drinking water. It is safe and potable, but comes from the community well so has a funny/sulfur taste sometimes.

What a great location in the outdoors. This is an awesome spot to enjoy the northern CA nature. We saw deer everyday and listened to the river all day night! Thanks for sharing your piece of natural serenity.

Relaxing getaway

Great house, well stocked-had everything we needed, couch was super comfortable, large TV, back deck was great, Weber BBQ full tank of propane, location for fishing and kids swimming was awesome. We will rent this place again.

My kids (ages 8 and 5), dog and I had an amazing stay in this house. The amenities were excellent and I would definitely return. Highlights in the area included innertubing and swimming in the Trinity Lake...and my daughter catching a 3 foot long 20 pound King Salmon in the Trinity River (near Lewiston) thanks to the incredible fishing guide (Scott Stratton of Trinity River Adventures). We had an awesome first stay in this area and will definitely return to this cabin again.

A fantastic experience

We loved our stay at the cabin. Lizzie and Jay were exceptional hosts. The cabin and area are so special. Lewiston is so cute and we loved exploring all the little mountain towns on 299. We were able to catch 4 steelhead, two within walking distance of the cabin. Our well mannered dog loved the heater. The deck was magical and the stars were spectacular. We loved our trip and are looking forward to returning.

DREAMY!

We needed a vacation- and wanted to go somewhere we'd never ventured to. This cabin and location had it all - amazing hiking and biking trails, fantastic swimming holes, and epic fishing. The salmon were running - and the best spot was .2 mile from the cabin. The area is rustic and quiet, with great neighbors and the lewiston creek in front of you. The cabin was well equipped for our family of teenagers - grateful we found a new place to come back to!

Trinity River cabin

The cabin itself was clean, and had all the amenities one would want. It was very comfortable for both of us and my dog. The only thing one should be aware of is that this is a neighborhood of mostly manufactured homes and there is no riverfront. One has a short walk essentially across a road to get to the access to the river. You can't see the river from the property which I thought you could when I rented it. It does have a nice deck which looks out on trees in one direction. The back of the house is other homes.

Desirable rental...but

This property has the potential of being a very desirable rental once you get past a very poor first impression: leaning fence, broken step, rickety hand rail, laundry room smell of cat urine and broken door handle. Once inside the cabin is clean (except for the Windows) and comfortable. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen well equipped. The covered porch is wonderful for sitting, eating ,barbecuing, deer watching,etc. The ceiling fan is a very nice touch as it was HOT during our visit. The safety issues addressed in an earlier review have not been fixed. The shower still has no mat (we donated one) and used a towel for a step out mat. The stair hand rail is still very loose. Safety issues aside small details (bathroom towel ring kept falling, living room entry door handle was tricky,etc) did not ruin our pleasant stay. The location is excellent. The fishing is convenient(check for best time of year to get the "big ones"). We had a very peaceful and enjoyable week with our son and grandson! D

Could be a nice cabin if.......

With regret we can't give this vacation cabin a good review.The picture on the website fails to show the problems we experienced. I'm in top physical shape and run marathons. The shower failed to have a mat or safety strips and I had a horrible fall hitting the tub and landing on the floor. I had to go to the ER twice in Weaverville.Oh course this was the end of the vacation. We called the owner and she did refund us a few days. It's apparent that the cabin is in need of a good examination to make it safe inside and out. We mentioned to the owner the railing on the stairs needed to be repaired because it was coming apart. If you pull up the curtains I don't think the windows were ever cleaned.Also the chairs to the table were falling apart. The house needs a good cleaning removing the cob webs in the corners would help.We also found out from a local resident the water is not safe to drink. This should be stated to bring water. The sign in front on the road states the water problem on a bulletin board.If you rent a house the owner needs to stay overnight to see how the house is operating . Well, all I can say our vacation was a disaster. Hopefully the owner will read this review and improve the property for others to enjoy.

Could have been better

We were hoping this would be a five star review. Check-in was as described simple with no problom. After that it was not so great. The email we received was not as described on the website. It was a strongly worded email. I was told I needed to remove all blankets pillow covers,towels and anything else I used and put them in the washer machine. Also clean to all uttensils We used, that was the first red flag but decided to stay optimistic. Shortly before my arrival I recieved a 2nd email saying the drier didn't work and if I wanted to wash I can hang the clothes outside well forecast called for rain. I was compensated for this however it was a inconvenience. I was given the option to cancel but with such short notice I could not find any other place Even with this we were still optimistic. When we opened the door there was a foul greasy smell like something had been sitting for a while, opened windows to air the house. Decided to make coffee but coffee pot was extremely dirty so fortunately brought our own. Most of the forks were dirty with a hard coating of some kind. One pan in particular was coated with a thick layer of grease that smelled horrible it made me feel sick. At that point we thoroughly hand washed any dishes and utensils we were going to use and we started sanitizing everything because we didn't want to take a chance with getting sick. After thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing, basically doing the cleaning crews job it was time for a shower and unfortunately more disappoint followed. We were only taking 3 minute showers because the water is up to your ankles . Had to lather wash dry get put towel on floor wash your feet while your standing outside of tub and use a 2nd towel to dry your feet. Thankfully they did provided enough towels. At that same moment I looked up and saw cobwebs and thought are these the same cobwebs that I read on a review of this place from 4 years ago. I couldn't believe it. I don't know who the cleaning crew is but they might need to replace them. The extra pillow they provide are sitting directly on the floor in the closet. The queen bed is noisy and unstable,stagnant water container under sink .they only provide 1 roll of paper towel and 2 toilet rolls. House is unsanitary. Friendly neighbors they call it the party house this explains everything. With all the problems we had I jot to say fishing was great and I enjoyed being with my family.

QUIET AND FAIRLY PRIVATE

We enjoyed our stay, the house was cozy and had an air-conditioner in the living room. If renting in the summer the a/c only cools the front room. We brought our own portable A/c for the bedrooms. It was very nice to use the washing machine after everyday of fishing and swimming. We brought our boat, and there was enty of parking. Overall we had a great stay even after we had 2 days where the power was cut off by the county for 2 separate incidents. The river is accessible with a small walk. There is a nice fishing hole to the south of the road. And if you drive around to look down over the bank you can see its full of fish. Getting g them to bite is another thing. Lol Definetly a nice place.

Peaceful and nice

Perfect location for a nice getaway . Water is walking distance and we rented a raft one of the days and had a blast . House was cozy and we were able to bbq and cook. Kitchen has everything you need . Nice patio to bbq , socialize or just listen to nature . The only thing I would say is that the bedrooms get extremely hot . Maybe a stand up fan would help them cool down from the living room ac unit to the back , besides that we had an amazing time and are looking forward to coming back next summer !

Peaceful getaway

Loved the spot. Less than 5 min walk to the riverside. Small sandy beach area and nice fishing holes. Locals are friendly. Just what we needed to feel like we got away but still feel isolated from these crazy times.

quiet getaway

This place was nice, clean and very comfortable. Roomy property in a quiet, friendly neighborhood made it ideal for our dog. Close access to the trinity river as well. Great place for checking out the surrounding Trinity-Shasta recreational area .
