We have stayed at this house several times, and the property is improved every time. We love the location and the pool table, decks, views, and hot tub. We grill out and eat outside under the tall pines and make great memories.
We loved our stay here! The house was lovely and had lots of space for our whole group. We had no issues, as the house was well maintained and clean. The kitchen was well-stocked and super easy to cook in. We enjoyed the hot tub and morning coffee on the deck in the sunshine. It was a great location to access the mountains and the lake. Overall, Vince was a great host and we would love to come back!!

We are so glad you found the house well maintained and clean and you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to your next stay.
Our stay was lovely! The property is spacious, with a few fun, unique features like the spiral staircase to the bottom level. It was perfect for our family vacation. There were plenty of clean towels, the rooms were spacious, we enjoyed the hot tub, deck, and pool table each day, and we took advantage of the close proximity to hiking trails. The neighborhood has an entrance to the Castle Rock Trail, which has a breathtaking view of the sunset over Lake Tahoe! Vince is a thorough and responsive host. He provides manuals for all of the equipment and appliances on property, and is quick to respond to messages, resolve issues, etc.Overall, a wonderful place!
Perfect stay!! cozy, spacious, and everything we needed :)

The property had a few issues:The oven did not work and the owner did not make it a priority to get it fixed before we arrived. One of the toilets would no longer flush and the owner sent over a repair man to fix it but did not ask him to bring parts to fix the oven, the owner could have found the parts locally or had them shipped next day so the maintenance man could repair it- but instead said that the part would arrive the day we were leaving. The bed frame in one of the on suites was broken and there was no waste basket in the room or bathroom. There was a patio chair that had been broken for sometime. There was a tarp covering some firewood close to the house that had a large pond of algae water. Part of the walkway to the front door was broken down and needed serious repair. The ping pong table in the garage was broken. Each day we found something else that needed repair.Over all it did not seem that regular maintenance was done on the property.Nice home and location but very little with upkeep.

Thank you for sharing your experience!
Your feedback helps us find and fix items that guests break during the busy summer season.
Many guests break things and hide their experience, and then subsequent guests report broken items.
The guest that departed the morning you arrived reported the oven not working. Staff confirmed the oven not working late afternoon, just before you arrived. I researched the problem and potential solution and ordered a part that evening, and I scheduled a repair person to visit later in the week, which was the soonest available visit I could find. My part order was a good guess, but was only a guess at the problem, and my guess was correct. The oven igniter part arrived the day before you departed and was installed the next day. I could not find the part available in any stores nearby and 3 days was the earliest ship date I could find in the remote mountains when ordering on Sunday. I learned that oven igniters wear out and I will order a spare. The oven is only about 4 years old.
Recent guests broke two patio chairs and did not report the damage. You reported the broken chairs, and I ordered a very nice new 8 chair outdoor dining set within hours of you reporting the broken chairs. Recent guests placed the chairs in ways that obscured the damage from staff.
You reported a loose bed frame during your stay. Staff tightened the bed frame after your stay. No one mentioned this problem prior to your stay.
You reported a problem with a toilet handle. Staff arrived within 10 minutes and fixed it. Staff had no opportunity to research oven problems or solutions before arriving within minutes to fix the toilet handle.
You reported a problem with the ping pong table in your review. Staff fixed the ping pong table two days after you wrote your review. Guests broke the ping pong table and did not report their damage.
The "walkway" you mentioned is not a "walkway"; it is the old driveway that existed before the wooden bridge driveway and garage was constructed above the old driveway and garage. While people can use this old driveway to walk from the street to the house, people can also walk on the wooden driveway or front yard adjacent to the old driveway. The retaining wall next to the old driveway gradually fell over years ago and is not required for walking on the old driveway and is not needed because the new wood driveway is above the old ground level driveway. You are the first group to mention this unnecessary item. The wall still holds back sufficient soil in its current configuration. I will replace it some year if retaining soil in that location becomes necessary; it currently is not necessary.
Heavy fireproof tarps over firewood are required by Tahoe Douglas Fire department for fire safety at vacation rentals in Douglas County. The tarp keeps our firewood dry. Water on top of the tarp contributes to fire safety and evaporates and drains several days after rain.
Thank you so much for your feedback! Every guest that shares their experience creates an opportunity for staff and management to find and address problems that other guests hid to reduce their risk of paying for damage they performed.
