very nice house in a quiet neighborhood. The kitchen is well-equipped and the large private yard is excellent for entertainment. short walk to the beach. would definitely stay again.
Had a lovely week in a very comfortable clean well located beach cottage. Enjoyed the beach almost every day- so close and beautiful! Enjoyed nice restaurants very close then had a fire pit on the deck every night. Everything that makes a great vacation!
Beautifully decorated cottage in a serene setting. Was a perfect getaway for us. We really enjoyed the location, very quiet and peaceful. Yvette made sure everything was perfect for our stay. Was a short walk to a pretty, private beach. This property is even nicer than the photos. Don’t miss out on this one.
We loved the house. It was eclectic and quaint. The perfect setting to disconnect and relax. Also great location being so close to beaches, shopping, restaurants and pampering if you want to treat yourself. Yvette was wonderful and we hope to go back!
Cottage is very nice - interior is very clean - back deck area can use some TLC - location is excellent - walking distance to small community beach and just a very short drive to public beaches. Awesome location and New England beach town.
VRBO photos are a bit outdated - (especially back deck/yard area) -

Lovely, charming and well suited cottage in Old Saybrook Manor
Wonderful location within walking distance of beach/CT shoreline. Cottage is bright, open, well appointed and filled with love & art. This cute home sits on a private, dead-end lane that offers privacy, security and convenience to area beaches, shops, restaurants, daily coffee, groceries, etc while maintaining a secluded and comfortable locale. The owner is easy to communicate with, understanding of your needs and privacy as well as just a very nice, loving & caring human being.
We loved our stay at this cozy cottage. Super clean and comfortable beds. Pretty beach decor, with a lovely private backyard and porch. Easy walk to the beach. Yyvette responded quickly to all our texts and gave great recommendations for local favorite restaurants. ( Penny Lane Pub). Perfect size for 2 couples.
Cute cottage with beach decor and colorful artwork. Upstairs loft has one queen/full bed and two twin beds. It can get warm up there so use AC and fan.
Home is in a homeowners association where many ride around in golf carts. Small community family feel with small private beach access about 5-10 minute walk from house.
Bring beach shoes because there are rocks and sea life in the water. Also there are no lifeguards.
Good restaurants outside association in old Saybrook, including fresh salt, the tea kettle, Luigi’s, and Pennylane Pub. My kids especially enjoyed the frozen yogurt at Sweet Lunas.
Some things to do and see: old train ride in Essex (and boat which we didn’t go on), castle owned by Sherlock Holmes actor, the Kate museum and theatre (Katherine Hepburn), mini golf on the sound.
We had a great time. Beach is an easy walk. Cottage is comfortable and decorated beautifully with an artistic vibe. Yvette is very responsible and attentive. We plan to go back!
The property shows a little age, but it's quaint, comfortable, and pleasant. Yvette was available and more than accommodating. The beach, however, was fairly inaccessible: kind of a long walk, and no parking allowed.
Everything about The Cottage is magical. The home is surprisingly large, the location ideal. One can make home-cooked meals, or dine out. Cannot say enough about this vacation home. Yvette was most attentive, reachable by phone, and has a gem for anyone’s get-away. Thank you, Yvette.
My husband and I had a great stay at Yvette’s house. She was so easy to communicate with and she truly wanted to make sure we had a great time. Plus we were able to take our dog with us which made for a perfect weekend getaway. The private beach which is walking distance was so beautiful 😍
Quaint and peaceful, this Old Saybrook hideaway offers a lovely setting for beach and solitary walks, yet is ideally situated for the renter to join all activities Old Saybrook offers.
Cute place with sweet decorations. I enjoyed the personal touch of the amateur paintings and the fun wall (which you will see!) in the kitchen. We really enjoyed the sun porch one night and the back deck every day. There are neighbors but it felt very private at the end of the private road and thanks to all of the beautiful bushes.
The second floor had a queen bed and a trundle. FYI, the stairs going up are steep. I was nervous on them, let alone having a toddler. Notes: there are beautiful skylights in the kitchen and second floor bedroom. We got some foam board from the dollar store to block the light in order to sleep as the skylights are directly over the queen bed upstairs. I can imagine coming back here next year. If we do I will bring extra towels (low stock which were also small in size) as well as extra toilet paper which we would have ran out of if we didn’t adventure every day.
Thank you for the hospitality!

Why they chose this property
Its quiet, clean, I own the lot next door, so the back yard is very private. The house is on a private dirt rd... home has a large deck, front sun porch, working fireplace, I provide linens, spices, kitchen & dining ware.
What makes this property unique
Great area, charming neighborhood of beach cottages. I made it colorful and decorated with interesting art. The kitchen back splash is a hand-made compilation of broken glass, shells and interesting finds…. Nice deck, huge pine tree, perennial gardens make for a charming yard. Boat mooring, beach.....Fireplace. The washer is shut down in winter due to pipes freezing. laundry must be done at the local laundry mat.
