Quiet Bayfront Community on the Island-Close to Downtown City Center
Come stay in one of Davis Shores’ original ranch style homes that is close to everything! Built in 1952, Cottage Avista has many of the original charms of yesterday still intact and is located on the only circle in North Davis Shores. A very small community with minimal traffic and extra privacy! You will enjoy the sights, sounds, and island breezes as you are so close to the bayfront and downtown! This is the perfect sized home for a family vacation with a large remodeled, well appointed kitchen and two bedrooms (the master with a comfy king size bed and the second bedroom is queen sized). There is also a queen size sleeper sofa in the den. Walk or bike over the bridge of Lions to explore the town. We have several bikes for our guests, however if staying in, enjoy a setting sun on the wrap around front porch. For home entertainment there is a 55” HD TV and strong Wi-Fi throughout the property. Kids can utilize the den, shut the pocket doors and enjoy their own HD TV as well. We allow our guests to use the new washer and dryer located inside the detached garage. Whether going for walks downtown, planning a day at the beach, or just relaxing in St. Augustine the traditional way, Cottage Avista will have something for you! We look forward to hosting your stay.!

The host was very responsive and made sure we were comfortable and all our needs were met. The house was in a great location for us as we wanted to be within walking distance to St. Augustine (18-20 minutes) but in a quiet neighborhood. We would definitely stay there again.
Great host! House and yard were beautiful and immaculate for our arrival. The landscaping is superb, and the location in a quiet neighborhood is ideal both for walking as well as getting to the beaches & town.Highly recommended!
Great location. Close to downtown district as well as the beach. Host (Steve) was great to work with. Home had updated appliances and very comfortable bed.
Stephen provided excellent communication and support. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We walked over the Lions Bridge into St Augustine twice during our stay. We also drove to Anastasia State Park and St Augustine Beach. Both are lovely and within a short drive. So the location of the cottage is ideal. The cottage itself is very clean and comfortable. The kitchen has everything one could need. We hope to be back.
He seemed very welcoming - taking the time to tell us about good places to eat and things to do. Prior to that, we didn't know anything about the Festival of Lights. We enjoyed his recommendation to visit the Fort and the Basilica. The house was very comfortable and well equipped. The backyard was very private and it was great to relax with our dog. She loved being able to run around the well maintained lawn. The house had one of the best kitchens!
Great accommodations, clean, comfortable, and spacious. Location is very convenient to the historical part of Saint Augustine. Communication with the owner was excellent! Would definitely stay here again.
The house was cute & had everything we needed for our stay. The backyard was very nice especially since we have a dog. We enjoyed playing darts in the garage. It was just a advertised. FYI - Bring your own drinking water (this isn't just for the house...restaurants too!) We would stay here again. Just as we were leaving a huge bald eagle landed in the big tree in the backyard!
Like being a local, if only for a week! Quiet neighborhood. Perfect for a relaxing stay. A location. One-mile bike ride to downtown St. Augustine historic district! Close to the lighthouse and State Park on Anastasia Island, too! The house is a cute 1952 bungalow with modern upgrades to the kitchen and living room. Screen porch with paddle fan and fully-fenced yard! So many excellent restaurants near by!
Steve was amazing from the minute we booked the property stating contact with us was very helpful the place was awesome very clean great location the only thing that my wife and I said that there was missing was they should be a book they had to sign and to tell people how I'll stay was there all in all five stars all the way for everything we'll definitely recommend the house and we'll try to stay there again.
We are repeat visitors to this cottage. Very well equipped, comfortable beds, quiet neighborhood and a scenic walk to downtown or around the island. Host very helpful and welcoming. We hope to return.

About the host
Hosted by Stephen Kelly
We visit St. Augustine often and live approximately 30 minutes north in Jacksonville. We have both lived in Florida for a number of years, although Steve is originally from New Haven Connecticut and Sherre is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio.
Why they chose this property
My wife and I met while working at the Conch House Marina Resort in 1989-1991, still one of our local favorite spots for dining. We have 2 grown children. We know the area well and have decided to retire one day at Avista. We have another VRBO property at Bryn Mawr Ocean Resort in St. Augustine Beach ID#221986. We have been blessed and so fortunate to have had many great guests over the past ten years! We look forward to continuing this relationship with them and our our future guests. St. Augustine is a wonderful place! The beach, history and a small town feel. Plenty of great dining options and shopping too!
What makes this property unique
Semi-private community, one way in and out. Nice bike rides and doggie walks! Very close to downtown. You can hear faint sounds while sitting on the front porch from those enjoying downtown just on the other side of the bayfront. Birds, breezes and friendly neighbors in this peaceful community.
