About this property
Private Catskills Getaway with a Large Pool Ideal for Long Summer Stays!
Our Highwoods house in Saugerties offers views year round, a 50' pool in the summertime (June to early-September), hiking on premises, 19th century barn, large screened-in porch with flagstone floor, two fireplaces that accommodate candles, wide-board pine floors, a private getaway with an easy drive to nearby towns of Saugerties, Woodstock, and Kingston.
Kitchen, dining room, living room, breakfast room and large screened in porch where you will probably spend much of you lazy summer time!
Sleeping arrangement as follows:
Top floor: Two bedrooms that each have a double bed and one (rather tiny) bedroom with a single bed. These share a bathroom (with tub) on the second floor.
Ground Floor: One bedroom with a double bed with private bath (shower only).
As hosts we are available to welcome and orient guests but we will not be on premises. It's all yours!
Private space but in the middle of what is happening!
Trains to Rhinebeck and buses to Woodstock but transportation needed to house and during your stay.
No pets please!
Ambiance:
Legend has it that our house was built int eh early 1800's (1806 or so?) and the eyebrow windows seem to attest to that time. Lovely wide-board pine floors and a mid-19th century barn also speak to its history. Mid-20th century additions created the screened in porch stairway with a beveled window and kitchen --- we think of ourselves grounded in the 50's of the Catskills stylewise, but we can assure you the wifi and cable have never been a problem!
What to do?
If you find a need to venture off the property there is lots to do. Stroll through neighboring Woodstock (4 miles) which boasts contemporary crafts and hippie hangouts, or visit downtown Saugerties (about 10 miles) for antique treasure and finds. Up and coming Kingston offers cool and hip restaurants and the history of the stockade area.
You can hike up Overlook Mountain (the view from our property), do the Walkway over the Hudson, drive around the block to Opus 40, take a boat ride on the Hudson. The days are just packed!
Happy to give an advance tour to anyone wishing to stay for a month or more.
