About this property

Ray's Place on Lookout Mountain

Summary:
From the back deck you can see 3 states! Gigabit wifi is freely available to all guests, along with Fiber Optic 4K HD TV, fireplace, outdoor fire pit, BBQ grill, 2 full bathrooms, 3 beds, nice kitchen with brand new appliances, BOSE surround sound for incredible movie watching, washer & dryer, and a million-dollar view. Chattanooga 20 minutes, Cloudland Canyon, Rock City and hang gliding all within 5-13 minutes. Very safe area, & onsite security. Undeclared guest fee of $50 per night for each undeclared guest will apply.

The Space:
When you walk in the front door you will experience the total awesomeness of the place. The wall facing the valley is all windows, made especially to enjoy the view. Main window has a new premium blind. The deck is made of a composite material, so you will never get a splinter while enjoying the evening view barefoot. There's a swing downstairs to enjoy while watching one of our amazing, stellar sunsets. A hammock is available if desired. There's a breakfast nook to wake up with morning cup of coffee and write, or read, or just take in the beautiful sunrise. Pull up your local newspaper on the free WiFi, or YouTube music/videos, and start the day right. Brand new Courtyard with fountain and Butterfly sculpture bench. This is a townhouse twinned with the neighbor, but all the property's spaces are for your private use.

To ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for all, we encourage and request all guests to review our house rules before completing their booking. These guidelines help maintain comfort, security, and create clear expectations for all involved. By booking, you agree to our house rules, policies, terms and conditions (including details on guest count, pet accommodations, security measures, and checkout procedures). Adherence helps us provide the best possible stay for you and future guests. We appreciate your cooperation in advance and look forward to hosting you!

Guest Access:
You will have the entire house, (upstairs 1 bedroom, 1 full bathroom & downstairs is a bedroom, sofa bed, and full bathroom), except for the garage, and my office. After all, I have to have some place to put my stuff. I live here when I'm not out of town working. The key pad is located behind the big sun security door on the front porch next to the road. Open the security door and the keypad is located behind it on the inside door. The door is custom, and brand new, so the handle is a little stiff to turn. It is not locked, just turn it. You will see the keypad, enter your code and turn the handle. Don't push the LOCK button after entering your code. That simply locks it back. If you push any of the buttons, they light up so they are easy to see at night. There's a Ring door bell if you need anything--it will ring on my phone and I'm happy to help you if necessary.

The Neighborhood:
Very safe, quiet, and friendly neighborhood. Many places to hike. Bicycles are always riding around here and challenging themselves with Burkhalter Gap road coming up the mountain. On a good day for flying you'll see hang gliders making runs to the point of the mountain, and back. Scenic highway paints the picture for the area. The mountain faces NW so you will always get to see a spectacular sunset (unless it's raining or overcast, of course). Free internet with a GIG download speeds. If you're looking for cabin rentals on Lookout Mountain, you've come to the right place!

Getting Around:
Scenic highway is just outside the front door. It's also called Hwy 189, Hwy 157. Interstate I-20/I-59 is only 10 minutes away, Hwy 24 is only 20 minutes,, Hwy 136 is only 12 mintues. Both Rock City, and Ruby Falls, are only 13 minutes. The Tennessee Aquarium is only 26 minutes. All the best restaurants are less than 25 minutes away!! Covenant College is only 5 minutes on the same road as Ray's Place is on. Downtown Chattanooga and all the night life is about 26 minutes.

Other Things to Note:
There's a book with all the details of what you can expect from me, and what I expect from you (i.e. the do's and don'ts). I have a lung condition that prohibits me from having pet dander. I LOVE animals, but some people just can't tolerate some of them. Please read the guidebook!

For the safety of our guests I have placed 5 exterior cameras at the property. We have a Ring doorbell camera (1) at the front door. We have additional cameras pointing at the parking area (2), back patio firepit (3), the top of back patio staircase (4), and the bottom of the back patio staircase (5).

Propane for the grill and firepit is provided free for guests. Please DO NOT leave the fire burning unattended. Be sure to turn it off before leaving the deck.

Also, the front of the house has been paved for parking and easy access to the front porch. Or, you can park in the driveway to the side of the house. 6 solar lights illuminate the front porch at night for help getting up the stairs.

I've just designed and created a new courtyard in the front. This includes a butterfly sculpture bench and a 4 tier pineapple fountain. I could spend hours sitting and listening and watching that!!

Please note: There is an extra guest fee of $10 per night per additional person beyond 2 guests. Bookings with undeclared guests will incur additional fees of $50 per undeclared guest per night.

Ray's Place is a townhouse with plenty of privacy and peace to enjoy every minute of your stay.

Also, if you have any allergies, please let me know BEFORE booking. Thanks!

Why they chose this property

I"m a Marine(honorably discharged many decades ago,but I will always be a Marine), hang glider pilot, professional photographer, along with many other activities. Where else would you want to live if you flew, and took breath taking sunset pictures? I have a nice back yard with lots of grass,( which most other's on the mountain don't), it's close enough to the edge, yet not TOO close for those that don't like heights. You can actually sit in my brushed nickel swing under the deck, take off your shoes, and just enjoy the views & the spectacular sunsets ! I"m 2 hours from Atlanta( all according to traffic of course), 2 hours from Birmingham(same applies), 2 hours from Nashville, and 2 hours from Knoxville. I'm only 20 minutes from the Tennessee Aquarium, which is in Downtown Chattanooga. Close enough, but far enough away to have dark night skies to view the stars. 3 states can be viewed from my swing. Alabama, Tennessee, and your sitting in Georgia. The entire home has been remodeled, replaced, and made like new. Including the beds, and all linens, and towels. Along with the fastest free internet, and HD Tvs,, I know you are getting the best that I can offer you, and yours ! !
Staying on top of a mountain has it's training perks also. Ironman, and professional bicyclist, can train up and down the mountain for a real challenge !!

What makes this property unique

You can see 3 states from the deck. Alabama, Tennessee, and you'll be sitting in Georgia. You're 15 minutes from Cloudland Canyon, with 2 waterfalls, and 9 miles of premier hiking. 20 minutes from Downtown Chattanooga. 12 minutes from Rock City & Ruby Falls. 20 minutes from the Tennessee Aquarium, and all the wonderful 4-5 star restaurants. 10 minutes from Hang gliding. Lula Lake Falls is 10 minutes. You're close to everything, but not TOO close. Kind of like where my deck sit on the bluff. Close, but not Too close. I do have a grassy backyard to enjoy also. Professional Bicyclist know Lookout Mountain for it challenging terrain. Covenant College is only 6 miles away. I have many routes for when I ride my Harley from my house. I can lay out day trips for you, or your Chapter, to ride different places every day for a week, and never travel the same path !!
