A Home On The Harbor- Beach, Water Views, Quiet

Nestled on a private lane, on Whidbey Island (near Seattle, WA), this water view home has a private beach on beautiful Holmes Harbor. Experience the best of the Pacific Northwest as you launch your kayak or make a sandcastle right on the tidal beach. This is a fantastic beach house for families, sabbaticals, or couples. All are welcome at A Home On The Harbor.

A Home On The Harbor is thoughtfully designed with comfort and simplicity in mind. Featuring all new beds, soft luxury linens, black out blinds in the bedrooms, and a complete cook's kitchen for your holiday use. The kitchen is well-stocked with quality stainless cookware, griddle, coffee maker and grinder, electric tea kettle, toaster oven, blender, crockpot, and sharp knives. The pantry is stocked with dried herbs, salt and pepper. Grill out on the deck with the Weber gas grill as you watch for seals, enjoy s'mores around the campfire outside, or snuggle up with a good book around the wood-burning stove inside.

Our bathrooms have just been beautifully refreshed. The upstairs bath now features new double sinks and quartz countertops with beautiful new flooring for both baths.

In keeping with the intentional simplicity of the home we do not have any televisions, but we do have WiFi and cell phone reception. We have many games, books and puzzles for your enjoyment.

Enjoy Holmes Harbor with easy steps to the pebble strewn tidal beach. Follow a short garden path, nine steps down, and there you are! Our privately-owned beach is easy enough for our great-grandma to access. Carrying chairs, paddle boards or sand toys down is a breeze. Our beach is an excellent place to launch your kayak or paddle board; bring your own, or to rent from the local rental company.

Come and unwind with an easy island getaway in the perfect location. Enjoy strolls on the beach, birdwatching and campfires in our quiet and peaceful neighborhood, all within a 3 minute drive or even a walk to dining, antique shops, coffee, ice cream and the grocery store. We are centrally located in South Whidbey within a short drive to Langley, Greenbank Farm and Coupeville.

If the season is right you are welcome to pick apples, blackberries, rhubarb or herbs from the herb bed for your own savory delights. As stewards of our beautiful beach, we don't use any pesticides.

Lovely Property in the middle of Whidbey
My family and I stayed here for our kids spring break this year. We were impressed with how clean and tidy the property was, especially considering that pets were allowed. Our mini dachshund felt right at home, and she’s probably the pickiest of us all! Having the water so close was a blast for the kids, and the location was extremely convenient with the grocery store a 3 minute drive away, Langley 15 minutes away, and the ferry something like 20 minutes south. It’s also quite close to wineries and the state parks on the island. All in all a great find that we would love coming back to.

Calm and Cozy
We stayed here last weekend with another couple. We stayed here once before and absolutely loved it. There's plenty of room for two families. Highlights for us were the beautiful view of the bay, the wood stove, and the well-stocked kitchen. Both couples commented that we wish our kitchens at home were as well-equipped. The house is well-maintained. The bedrooms are nicely decorated and the beds are comfy. There is also a lot to do in the area. Greenbank Farm, Spoiled Dog Winery, the Pacific Northwest Naval Air Museum in Oak Harbor. One of the most interesting places we visited was the Price Sculpture Forest in Coupeville. Be sure to scan the QR codes at the beginning for the augmented reality art. We were all blown away by it. We all give A Home on the Harbor two thumbs up!

Amazing family reunion
We love staying at Home on the harbor as our home base for family reunions on Whidbey. The house is so full of light, views and has perfect spaces for cooking and entertaining. The views of the sunsets and hoot owls at night are memorable along with daily walks along the beach. Our home away from home and Mishele is the perfect host. If you like a beautifully kept home cared for with attention to detail, this is the place to rent.

Our family has enjoyed Whidbey Island for years now and nothing makes us happier than smelling the fresh salt air and hearing the waves hit the shore. You can feel all your mainland concerns melt away.
We have had the pleasure of staying in other vacation homes on our travels over the years and we bring those experiences to our home. We know your vacation time is invaluable and we strive to make your stay the best it can be.

Why they chose this property

We are only the second owners of this island home and are super excited to offer it for the first time as a vacation home with a personal touch. We are hosting it ourselves and are happy to answer your questions and help you with your Whidbey Island getaway. We know you will love this unique setting at the base of Holmes Harbor and enjoy the peacefulness of our neighborhood. We look forward to having you as our guest.

What makes this property unique

The most unique thing about this home is its easy access to the privately owned tidal beach. The simple path and only 9 steps down is just hard to beat and it is so easy for all ages to use. Our beach is a great place to launch your kayak or paddle board from or to just stroll along during sunset. Searching for sea treasures, sand castles and digging for clams are great summer fun! You can watch the resident bald eagles and listen to the waves all from the comfort of the large deck.

We love our perfect location to dining and shopping, too. You can leave the car parked and walk to ice cream and shopping! You can also grab energetic young ones and take an easy walk to the fantastic playground at Freeland Park. We really have the best of both worlds with nature at the beach and enjoyment at the shops all within walking distance.

We also enjoy our central location to island attractions like Langley, Coupeville, Greenbank Farm, Wineries, and other great beaches and parks like Double Bluff Park and South Whidbey State Park.
