About the host
Hosted by Mike Barnell

My name is Ruby. My owner's name is Erica. And I love being at the beach, spending time digging, running, chasing seagulls and doing other very important things. The water is great to play in and I have lots of friends who come and pet me, throw balls for me to catch and sticks for me to bring back to them. I work very hard at this, day after day, summer after summer, and I think I am doing a good job of it, because everyone is always smiling at me and look very happy to be here with me. I can't be at the Salmon River all the time though, so I let friends of Erica stay here and enjoy my house when I am back in St. Louis, where I am from. If you are like me, when you visit you will enjoy watching squirrels, chipmunks and people from the living room window, or watching the boats go up and down the river from the patio deck. I like chewing a bone while doing this, but you can do other things too while overlooking the river on a warm, breezy day. Some people come to fish and they catch some too, but I prefer to run on the beach and take naps on the porch. Summer and fall are my favorite times to be here, but any time at the lake is better than being at home. I am really happy that Erica takes me to the Salmon River every chance she gets. I really love it here. Ruby
Why they chose this property
This cottage has been in our family for many years, recently passed between cousins and available at times for guests when not in use for family gatherings at our favorite place in the whole world. The house was rebuilt new in 2005 on the foundation of the original structure and is fresh and airy, functional and clean, cozy and romantic for a couple to enjoy. Or perfect for bringing the kids to spend time near the water, fishing or enjoying the nearby sandy beach.
What makes this property unique
You will find yourself spending hours on the patio, looking out over the water, just steps from your front door. The beauty of each day's sunrise is hard to describe, but you will experience it and remember it from this cottage. In the late afternoon on most days, the offshore breeze comes flowing through the windows across the Salmon River estuary and is delightful. You won't want to leave...
