The Beach Overlook House is equipped with everything you need for a hassle-free stay. This includes a fully equipped kitchen to prepare your favorite meals, high-speed fiber optic internet, cable TV service available on five TVs throughout the house, a washer/dryer for your convenience, microwave, barbecue grill, beach chairs, and a beach umbrella. To enhance your family's comfort, we've recently added a daybed, a trundle twin bed, and two new dining tables.

Room for Everybody:
With a total of four bedrooms and four baths, there is ample space for everyone to unwind. You’ll find cozy sleeping accommodations for up to 12 people, making it easy for larger families or groups to enjoy this beautiful home together.

Outdoor Living:
Step out onto the large screened-in porch where you can soak in the ocean air while watching the waves, or spend time relaxing in the several outdoor seating areas designed for leisure. The property direction offers one of the best beach views, ideal for sunset watching or sunrise coffee moments with family.

Explore Daufuskie Island:
This property allows only electric golf carts, ideal for exploring "the island that time forgot." Rent a golf cart or bike and cruise around the serene landscapes and gorgeous beaches. Relish in the island's natural beauty, including the Great White Egret rookery, where you can witness these magnificent birds at dusk. Keep an eye out for the American Bald Eagles and, if you're lucky, you might even spot a Loggerhead Turtle coming ashore to lay eggs.

There is also a second porch with comfortable chairs overlooking the Melrose Cottage Row side and providing another pleasant location for relaxing and reading.

As mentioned, the HOUSE has one of the most desirable porches on the Melrose on the Beach cottage row! It is an extended porch 3-sided that has been upgraded to include a comfortable seating area for a family group and an 8 person dining table. And it looks directly onto the sandy Melrose beach and the Atlantic ocean!

There is also a second porch with comfortable chairs overlooking the Melrose Cottage Row side and providing another pleasant location for relaxing and reading.

Note that the equestrian center is also back in operation, and horseback riding is available.

The Neighborhood:
Daufuskie Island

You will enjoy touring "the island that time forgot" on either a golf cart or bikes, which are both available for rental. And there's no better place for nice long walks!

The wildlife is abundant and breathtaking. The resort is the home of a Great White Egret rookery, where you will see hundreds of these graceful birds settle in for the night. A nest of American Bald Eagles can be seen now and then, and some lucky visitors can actually catch site of a Loggerhead Turtle coming ashore to lay hundreds of eggs in the soft sand.

NOTE: It is necessary to take a ferry to Daufuskie Island and the cost of boat and ground transportation is around $75-$85 per person roundtrip. We are happy to provide information about boat options and other information helpful for a Daufuskie trip.

We strongly encourage our guests to purchase travel insurance, and especially recommend "cancel for any reason" policies. (These must be purchased shortly after your reservation is made.)

3) Please note that because the Melrose Resort is in transition, our Melrose guests may notice a certain level of deterioration in the resort-owned buildings but will also see that renovation efforts are now underway. Our vacation cottages are in well-maintained areas and continue to be extremely popular.
