This home was very cozy and clean and the home owners were very nice too! we enjoyed coming back in the evening and sitting out back stargazing by the fire pit. we would definitely recommend this home .
Our stay here was perfect. Everything we could have needed was available. Extremely comfortable beds, nice linens and towels, and a well stocked kitchen. Home has obviously been completed renovated and was done very well. The fire pit was a nice touch as well. Great to have laundry facilities, too!
Home is secluded and very quiet at night, but still close to many wineries and downtown. Definitely one of the nicest homes we have rented on VRBO.
Heather was responded quickly to all of our needs. Our guests were impressed!

The bath tub is fabulous too! We enjoyed have a bonfire and looking at all the stars! They even provide the firewood and lighter fluid! The house is stocked with all the cooking, bedding, and bathroom essentials! Not to mention the have like 1000 channels if you want to watch tv, a ball game, or a movie! Also they provide some fun games for the family to play too! We wish we could have stayed just one more night!

Country goodness, modern amenities
Thank you for making such a beautiful home to share with people visiting your amazing area! We noticed every detail and were astounded at the attention and time put into all aspects of this lovely home. First of all, the sheets and the king size mattress were so comfy we couldn't believe how happy our backs were in the morning. In the kitchen...the extra touch with thoughtfully supplied creamer, sugar, coffee and even Ziploc baggies. So helpful! (Scissors would be a great addition, but maybe we missed them and they were already supplied.) Lastly, the Q-tips and doggy potty bags were beyond kind to accommodate guests. Really! We have never been in a more cozy home away from home... Not to mention, all the new house renovations! So lovely...Again, just amazing! Thank you for making our trip to the central portion of Cali so cozy and accommodating. We loved every minute of it and hope to be back one day soon for another visit.

Thank you so much for your kind words. It has been a pleasure creating a place for guests to call home while they visit Paso wine country. We look forward to having you again.
We had a wonderful time enjoying Central California wine country and relaxing at this wonderful home. The house was perfect for two couples and our small dog who loved the grassy and fully fenced in backyard. The house instructions were clear and easy to follow. The location is perfect for getting away from the city, playing horseshoes, and sitting around the fire pit. Would definitely come back here again.
This is the second time that my friend and I have stayed here. It is very nicely furnished and clean. There is a fenced in back yard for the dog. The area is very peaceful. If you neglected to bring an ingredient for preparing a meal, the pantry is well stocked, as well as pots, pans and dishes. We'll be back!
My partner and I, our dogs and our two dear friends stayed at Modern Country Escape over the Thanksgiving holiday. We were so happy with everything! The drive up into the hills through autumn vineyards to reach the property told us we were in for a treat. The house is situated in the hills between picturesque properties with small vineyards; quiet and peaceful. The house was the perfect size for our little group, with all the amenities we needed, including a lovely big fenced backyard with lots of grass, which the dogs loved! We were visited by all of the kitties which was a sweet treat! It was a great jumping off place to visit some of Paso's many wonderful wineries. We booked reservations at a couple that served lunch and enjoyed their beautiful grounds and of course, their wines. We cooked Thanksgiving dinner at the Escape, so easy with the barbecue and the well equipped kitchen (thank you to the owners for the Peachy Canyon wine, by the way!) The low nighttime light made the property great for stargazing and fortunately we had a couple of clear (chilly) nights to enjoy the night sky. Many thanks to the owners for offering their lovely house and for making the rental process so easy. We would love to come back again some day!
We were in town for the Castoro winery WhaleRock music festival.
The place we stayed was perfect in every way. The kitchen was modern and spacious. Bedrooms had great beds and a view off the back patio. The setting is in the countryside and remote with neighbors. You don’t feel isolated but you do feel away from the mainstream of people and busy roads. We highly recommend this place and we will return for next year’s festival.
We had no running water for flushing, washing hands, drinking, showering, for eight hours. Owner's final response, "...You simply got the country living experience." We have lived in the country for 32 years, we have a well. We understand wells and country living. We don't expect to pay full price after carrying buckets of water from next door to flush toilets and wash hands, etc. Our one full day there was consumed with this issue. We had anticipated an offer of a partial refund, a good will gesture. We received none of this. We simply received ....."the country experience."

I’ve been hosting for 3 years and I take pride in making sure my guests have the best stay possible. Little things are bound to happen. This stay and this review are one for the books. The message was sent to me via text around 7am that there was no water. I was out of town and received the message around 8am. I sent help over right away and running water was restored to the house by 9:30 am. How you can say that you had no running water for 8 hours is beyond me. No refund or compensation was offered because of the lack of communication and my assessment of the “problem” that found everything functioning properly. I got running water to the house within a couple hours. The house is on a well and we have done everything possible to make sure there is always running water, hence the solar system with back up batteries to provide power to run the well in a power outage (which happens all the time out here from people hitting power poles and such, that’s out of my control as a host) There was no rhyme or reason for why there was no water, everything was and to this day has been functioning properly. Again I am sorry that this happened but this is not an accurate review of the property and an over exaggeration of a bit of an inconvenience for a couple hours in my opinion. You chose to carry buckets of water to flush toilets in the little bit of time that the problem was being resolved, your full day here was not consumed by this issue since you had running water before 10am. I was apologetic and the “country experience” was mentioned due to your dramatic account of the problem and my findings of nothing wrong when I inspected the property. Even my neighbor that helped get you water was offended by your email.
Loved this stay out in the country. Yes it is out in the country. Very peaceful. The place is set up wonderfully. Lots of attention to detail. The host is very responsive. Stop out the store for groceries prior to arriving. Great kitchen set up. Highly recommended.

The house was welcoming and easy to find. Very clean and I loved that the lights were labeled. Very helpful
The house was well maintained and nicely decorated. If I had a question or comment regarding the property, the owner responded immediately to my emails. Although there was another house very close to the property, the occupants were quiet. It was a relaxing and satisfying experience.
This modern country escape is everything posted and more! The house was immaculate, the fenced in yard was beautifully landscaped & perfect for the pups. Heather has everything available to her guests. A perfect stay that we hope to do again soon!
We really enjoyed our stay. Property was clean. Backyard was also clean and nicely landscaped. We loved the Outdoor sitting area and fire pit! Great escape!
Beautiful location, 15 min drive from Paso. Had fun driving the hilly roads through the vineyards. Close to the wineries. Very nice owners. We will return next trip. Alan and Georgene

Beautifully updated home with everything we needed
We were so pleased with our experience renting the Modern Country Escape home for a few days. The area is rural and gorgeous, with rolling hills of countryside and vineyards. The house itself has been lovingly renovated top to bottom and the owners have thought of everything a renter might need or want. The house has lots of natural light with beautiful decor. The house feels twice as big as it is. The kitchen was very spacious and well-equipped. The bed was comfy, too! The views are stunning at this one of a kind place. Keep in mind it is far from town, but very much worth the drive. We felt so comfortable and at home, yet enjoyed the cleanliness and modern touches you would expect of a hotel. It was the best of both worlds. Great for little ones with tons of games and movies to enjoy. Easy check in and out. The owners are very responsive and great communicators. Thank you for sharing this beautiful property with us!

About the host
Hosted by Heather Breese
I am a mother of 3 and I work from home running our family owned construction company as well as managing and cleaning this property. We are an active family, we enjoy hunting, snow skiing, water skiing, jeeping, baseball, camping, and hanging out with friends and family. Our kids are 17, 15 and 8. We have lived in Paso Robles for 14 years, we grew up in Oxnard, CA. We love living in Paso Robles and getting to enjoy all that it has to offer.
Why they chose this property
This home is special to us because it sits next to our home and for years we watched it go unloved. We purchased the property in April 2018 and put many hours of love into making the house what it is today. We continue to work on the home to make it that much better. It has been so much fun putting this house together to allow others to come enjoy the beauty of Paso Robles.
What makes this property unique
The property is in the country but yet only 12 miles from town. It is close to all of the 46 East wineries and even has its own view of vineyards. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly.
