The cabin and surrounding property are very beautiful, and the host was kind and responsive. We had a peaceful stay overall. That said, the cabin was more cluttered than what was shown in the listing photos, which differed from our expectations. We also found that the propane on the grills was empty, and we were unable to get the electric kettle to work during our stay. This was just a little disappointing given the price point of this listing. Overall, it’s a lovely location with a welcoming host, but we felt some aspects of the listing did not fully reflect the experience. With a bit more alignment between the listing and the on-site experience, it could be even better.

Thank you for your honest review, although there was a full propane tank with a blue cap on the front that signifies it is full right next to the grill. It could easily have been hooked up by either yourselves or you could’ve texted us and we would’ve done it for you. We are perplexed about an “Electric“ griddle as we do not have one. There are three propane cooking options outside and a green egg that uses charcoal so if one grill didn’t satisfy, there are two others to use. As far as “clutter“ those are original oil paintings from national award-winning artists on the wall. We realize it’s not everyone’s taste, but when we travel, we try to appreciate what others provide for us. You are welcome back anytime you would like.

We so enjoyed that you wanted to share "horses" with Al, and feel we made new friends! Hope we get to spend more time with you both. Your dogs were so well-behaved, we didn't even know you brought them! You are both great people.
Breathtaking location. The family that owns the property are extremely friendly and offer a wide variety of amazing suggestions and add-ons to the package. The cabin is truly something spectacular and is extremely comfortable.Me and my wife had an absolute blast enjoying the scenery in Colorado and getting to come back and relax at the cabin and take in all the stargazing. We will definitely be going back in the winter for another couple's retreat. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking to get away and unwind for a little bit.

We welcome you back in the winter, the cabin is warm and cozy, all winter season. It offers the beauty of the Mummyrange and Rocky Mountain national Park, all covered in snow as well. We are so glad you enjoyed your time this spring, and we would love to host you both again.
Cozy cabin with peace and quiet, wonderful hosts who anticipate your needs. Not to mention a sauna and then a hot tub with a clear view of the night sky. Perfect for our honeymoon!

We enjoyed hosting you both for a special time in your lives and welcome you back anytime! Thank you for leaving everything so neat and tidy too:)
We had an amazing stay here. We were in town for a family reunion weekend and found this little place that was perfectly located for us. What we weren’t ready for was everything else that we got. Hospitality and the little attention to detail that the hosts and this neat little place offers. The feel of the history of the area was captured in this old cabin. And we didn’t need much from our hosts but they were very hospitable and ready to attend to anything we would need. Communication was soo on point as was everything on the property made us feel welcome and special. I hadn’t been to Colorado in 20 years and this was my wife’s first trip, and even though we were only there for 3 days this cabin helped make our add to the fun-ness of the trip. Highly recommend staying here.

A review like this means the most to a host. We try so hard to make it the way we would want it to be if we visited a place the fact that you loved our little rustic cabin and it made you feel so welcome is all we need to hear. You are welcome back anytime.
This was an ADORABLE cabin located on gorgeous property. The cabin was even better in person with all the fun accents. This was exactly what we needed and the ease of checking in/out made it even better. Thank you for sharing your space.

The sauna and hot tub were such a fun touch in this quaint and cozy cabin. Tons of unique decor made for fun conversation and the bed was really comfy. The weather was chilly but we didn't even notice. And even the view from the bathroom was great! We look forward to returning on the summer to hike around in that beautiful country!

Wow!! Where do i start?
From the time we requested the place to booking the cabin it was so easy. It was a geataway we hoped for for so long. We got to the cabin and the place was so rustic and dated to our liking. The farm was with chickens and a horse and the views were lpriceless. Thank you.

Thank you for staying and appreciating what we offer!
From the moment I booked, Karen ensured we had a fantastic stay - from sending excellent directions, to providing recommendations for food, and of course hosting the MOST delicious breakfast imaginable. The cabin is as described, small and rustic - cozy and romantic with a big comfy bed to spend a whole weekend in. We watched bunnies hop around the property, strolled down to feed and pet the horses, and basked in the silence the property offers. In only a weekend we could feel the stress of the hustle and bustle of everyday life wash away. And a few nights in the hot-tub looking up at the stars didn't hurt a bit! Can't recommend this enough for a quiet romantic getaway.

We live in Loveland so this was a short weekend getaway for our anniversary. We had so much fun! The hosts are amazing and so accommodating. They had a beautiful breakfast spread for us and the hot tub was extremely clean and comfortable. The cabin is cozy, warm and clean. The bathroom was excellent with all the accommodations you could ever need! The 360 views are INCREDIBLE! Pictures do not do it any justice. Do not hesitate to stay here! We already can't wait to go back. Thank you Karen and Al! We will see you soon!

We sure enjoyed having you here, and are proud to be your “go to” place to escape for awhile!
Thank you for your kindness and respect to us “old folks!” We welcome you back anytime.
The cabin was nice and homey. Karen and Al were so friendly and were the first thing we were greated by after a 12 hour drive. Karen was very helpful over the phone answering any questions I had. Other than that I did not see much of them. There property is beautiful and I'm so glad we got to see it when it was raining as it made it even more a rare site for city people like myself and my partner. The hottub was a nice thing we used every night to relax after site seeing every day. It over all was a very relaxing and peaceful stay and I could not have asked for anything better.
I liked staying at the tranquil homestead. It is on a very pretty property, though about 25 feet from main home. The sauna and farm setting there were an awesome experience. The sparsely furnished cooking items were camp clean. I was surprised that I needed to clean flies out of the coffee pot, for example. The cabin itself is a mix of old and new, so hard to nail the feeling created there. It's cozy and charming in it's own way. While I enjoyed our stay, I thought it was quite expensive and was rubbed the wrong way the surprise mandatory insurance on checkout. I also wasn’t a fan of the numerous disclosures about what not to do as a guest, that creates a bit of tension in trying to enjoy the experience.

We're happy you like the tranquility of our place!
All rules we have are listed here on the VRBO platform, and every listing is required to do this, so reviewing before booking is always a good idea. There aren't additional ones once you arrive, and the ones we do have keep all of our numerous guests safe.
Sorry we missed a fly, but it can happen to any host, and even this year, when we dine out, we've noticed they've been around! We take great care to clean our listing properly between guests, and we do aim for "cozy and charming." So, glad we succeeded!
All listings on many booking platforms have insurance offered; you can always opt-out or pay a small fee, where you'll be refunded if the place is left without damage. Pretty standard. You could always cancel before actually booking if you were "rubbed the wrong way." But we're glad you chose our place and told us how beautiful it was.
Most bed and breakfasts offer a room inside their residence, so our guest cabin provides much more privacy than is typical when staying in a traditional B&B. When staying on a "vast" property with a host, it's always a good idea to clear any idea you wish for on your trip, like staying in a hot tub past 10 PM, as your host would most likely be fine with it.
Communication is key and always welcomed.
We are glad you enjoyed the views and our cozy cabin!
Our host was very kind and welcoming. The cabin was unique and historic. She very kindly allowed us to have a campfire in the evening and that was very special E-bike riding on the road and enjoying the views was a blast! House was warm. A good amount of bedding was provided. Unfortunately the house was much more cluttered than I would have liked. There was nowhere to open and place a suitcase. There were a very large number of decorative objects (including a few Christmas decorations), so much that there was no shelf space even for the few kitchen supplies provided and they mostly resided in a low bench in the kitchen. This would have been more handy if on a shelf or there was a proper cabinet in the living area and then the bench could be used for suitcase storage. The bedroom had a queen size bed up against the wall with a giant head and footboard that was lovely but to large for the space. A partner in the bed has to crawl over the other person to get out of the bed. The pillows were worn and flat. The outside of the house was also quite cluttered and many things sitting around outside with no organization or purpose, things like extra gas containers, hand weights, a ladder, a sink apparatus on the front porch which did not pump water (except manually), nor did the other sink in the yard. We did dishes in the bathroom sink. She is a nice lady and I just think the house needs a little sprucing up and it would be perfect.

We are glad that you enjoyed your stay. The bed is a queen Euro top and extremely expensive, and we feel the Aspen frame complements our rustic and historic Cabin. We do not have a kitchen inside of the cabin. Instead we have an infrared Finlea sauna, fireplace, potbelly stove, microwave, coffee maker, and three-quarter refrigerator. Our cooking options are outside and include three propane grills and one green egg, and we feel we are very generous in supplying many propanes so that people do not run out during their stay. There’s also a nice “handmade for two” picnic table and round wrought iron picnic table outside so that our guests have a choice on where they would like to enjoy eating, but there’s also a small table inside where they can enjoy eating. Since we do have an outdoor kitchen and a hot tap sink outside, it was certainly your choice to do dishes in the bathroom sink. Thanks for your suggestions, and as a professional oil painter, yes, many of my paintings and other national award-winning artists grace the walls of our rustic cabin. We realize this is not everyone’s taste, and we can respect that.
We are very glad you enjoyed the scenery, Hot Tub, sauna, handmade swing by the river, and many miles of road to enjoy your E bikes that you brought with you.

Quaint but not secluded
While this is indeed a lovely and historic cabin, the listing does not make it clear that it is QUITE close to the house of the owners. In fact, the hot tub is not next to the cabin at all but by the house of the owners. My husband and I were really looking to get away from other people so this was disappointing. Maybe other mentioned this in their reviews, but it's really something that should be made very clear. The sauna was nice, but it's so big that there's no real place to sit and relax. Also, this cabin is in no way "remote" like the listing leads you to believe. Other than that, our stay was fine. The owners were very nice and even mailed my laptop cord that I'd forgotten back to me afterwards which I really appreciated.
Also, the current Colorado fires are extremely close to this location so we couldn't see the stars, but that's nothing anyone can control. However, renters should realize there are fires very nearby this location as of September 2020. Overall, it was a very cute and quaint (if overdecorated) place, just not what exactly what we were expecting.

We are happy that you enjoyed INSIDE of the cabin. as we strive to make it wonderful for all that stay with us! We spent 7 years restoring this 1880's treasure.
Unfortunately, most of Colorado (for over a month in 2020) has experienced several different fires. Luckily, the smoke has not affected us. Just in case, I've equipped our listing with a fancy air purifier. We have been super lucky by not smelling any smoke during a time others are losing their homes! This is nothing we can truly control.
The brand new Master Spa Twilight hot-tub runs off of a GFI plug and needs to be situated in our courtyard for safety reasons, so of course it’s placed behind the main cabin. What's nice is the secluded courtyard it is located in. All you have to do is walk 20 yards out of your cabin to access it in A VERY private courtyard surrounded by a rustic fence which affords you what all other couples have relished. We have hosted over 350 couples and not ONE has ever complained about solitude or privacy!
We aren't sure what you are referring to as we never saw you at all. We are also on 16,000 acres. You can hike over miles of trails and not see a single soul!
Your "decorated comment" most likely applies to the artwork in the cabin which has been created by myself, National Award Winning Artists, and local artists in the area-all original. It boasts the wildlife and landscapes in the area. We enjoy supporting the arts. We do realize our taste isn't everyone else's taste, but when we travel we enjoy the uniqueness of what we rent. Our rustic log cabin has landscapes, wildlife paintings with a wolf cover duvet on the bedspread.
We have miles of breath-taking mountains and hiking trails, yet we noticed you didn’t go for a hike, or even say hello to the horses. You stayed inside of the cabin the entire time-- which is fine. Yet, all you had to do was hike a mile behind the property for total seclusion. We live on 16,000 acres. Our place is "what you make it." No one else boasts a hot tub AND expensive sauna. Our sauna is a "top-of the line" Swedish, Finnleo, infra-red, one man sauna. No, we don't not have room for lounge chairs, but most enjoy exploring the wilderness and watching wildlife when they visit from the nice deck out front, and we have RARELY have had anyone stay the entire time inside.
It was unfortunate you were on your computer 24/7. We could tell by the data that was used that weekend. Our place is primarily to "unplug and unwind" from computers and TV and to explore wildlife, hike, fish, enjoy the hot tub under the stars, and the incredible scenery. Gazing at the sunsets and sunrise, and of course the night sky are really big perks to this incredible property we own.
We hope you will visit us again when you can enjoy the beauty of our very well-represented place. Please check out all the pictures and know our property and cabin is the perfect place for couples desiring to actually unplug, reconnect and enjoy time with each other while visiting. All of the couples we have hosted have LOVED our place--singles too! Grilling outside is also a fun activity as well as the corn-hole regulation boards. Sorry it wasn't what you had in mind. Our place lends itself to people who are fit who want to explore and enjoy a beautiful piece of Colorado history. The 1880's cabin is not the Hilton, but they don't allow horses either!
So thankful for this stay! For someone to open up there home and be so kind, what an experience. Couldn't ask for a better vacation. Being a nurse and my husband military this was peaceful, I have told friends and family about this place. So if you want coffee with a view an amazing egg Benedict, like shopping with amazing food, and a beautiful hike. It seriously has it all!
