About Bob Howard
Hello, We are the Howards, welcome to our cabin Wa-Ta-Vu. We purchased it in July 2007. We have remodeled every room and have decorated it with pictures from local Gatlinburg artists. There are many old pictures of Gatlinburg taken in the 50's. We are constantly working on more changes to the cabin. We are do-it-yourself types and enjoy working on it. Thanks for visiting!! Why Bob Howard chose Gatlinburg
We hope to retire in a couple of years and will be spending much more time at the cabin.
What makes this Cabin unique
The main things we enjoy at the cabin is the peace and solitude. The view is spectacular of Mount Leconte. In the winter with binoculars you can see the lodge on Mount Leconte. We also enjoy sitting in the hottub and just looking at the mountains.

Great Thanksgiving Escape
We spent Thanksgiving at Wa Ta Vu and it was fantastic! Bob was very responsive when we lost power due to the weather for a few hours and also made sure to check in with us to make sure we arrived safely and made it through the power outage. Well cared for with a well stocked kitchen for our feast. We even woke up to snow on the last day. Beautiful way to end a great stay. Thanks, Bob and Carol.
Wa Ta Vu is the perfect Gatlinburg area rental. It’s affordable, clean, close to town and has an amazing view of the mountains.
Our family will always come back to Wa Ta Vu.
The Winchel Family
This was our 2nd stay 🙂
The mountain view is beautiful - and you can watch the skies change, which is fascinating, and a different perspective.
The place is spotless. It is private, sitting up higher at the end of the lane, but not isolated from others, so you don’t feel alone either.
Bob and Carol make you feel at home with little notes on how something works, good places to eat, as well as some images of the area. Bob responds promptly via phone if needed, and is personable as well.
We have booked a 3rd stay - appreciate the hospitality!
After a bit of a drive through the mountains (and google only taking us to the corner near the cabin), we were met with an absolutely gorgeous view off of the deck of the cabin. The hot tub is a great way to unwind after a day hiking, in Gatlingburg, or just because you want to relax in a hot tub with a great view. The cabin was clean, nicely furnished / decorated, and provided all of the accompaniments of home. The speakers inside and outside attached to internet radio was a nice touch, and there were detailed instructions throughout (with a super handy kitchen map!). We had a great time here and would definitely stay again!
Cozy, clean and great stay!
Really cute cabin! Had a great view. All the extras helped. Robert was very kind and made himself available if needed. We will stay again if we travel to Tennessee in the future.
Our cabin is very handy to attend the Aquarium in Gatlinburg. Also it is only 5 miles to Dollywood and Pidgen Forge. The only Grocery Store in Gatlinburg Food City is just 1.9 miles away. Alamo Steak House is 1.7 miles.
