Stars Align at This Bespoke Northport Gem!
This property should have an endless star rating on VRBO. It’s unique and tailor made up north feel is just perfect! The house exudes touches of comforting refinement but does not vacate the original log home aspects that pull you into the home’s architectural roots. The kitchen is fabulous for food prep with Monogram high end appliances. Many family members can easily navigate the kitchen while the “chef” is cooking and enjoying wine. The feeling of the open air cross-breeze, while viewing the lake from the home is dream-state. The enormous Butterfly Bush off the back deck draws Hummingbirds and Monarchs while creating a beautiful flowery frame for sunrise photos. We brought a lily pad and floats that we tied to the dock which was great fun for the kids. Petosky stones and driftwood are easy to find in this lovely private bay setting. Fire pits by the beach and barbecue grills are available and draw more fun to be had outdoors. Both sides of the beach are exclusively wooded and neighbors are not visible. Tom’s market in Northport is conveniently close. We brought our boat and launched from the Northport Marina and picked up family at the end of the home’s dock. Don’t pause and question whether this is the house you should rent. It’s worth every penny. I will remember our stay here for my lifetime. It is award winning!!!

Overall we enjoyed our stay
Houses that allow a large group plus dog are hard to come by, since majority of the houses in Northern Michigan do not allow dogs. Our dog enjoyed the backyard so much. The house is clean and spacious. The guest room is a nice addition for someone who would like their quiet time separated from the main house. The furniture are of nice quilty and well curated, not like other lake front vacation rentals where they put together some cheap furniture and paint each room a different color. This house looks like the owner has lived here with children before, hence the decorations are well thought out. The kitchen has everything you would ever need, newer appliances, good 6-range stove. The fireplace next to the dining table is a nice touch and cozy. Fire wood is available but guests will have to bring their own starter wood and lighter. The house is 45 mins from Traverse City and 50 mins from Sleeping Bear Dunes. The nearest grocery is 5 mins drive away with small selection, if you want larger selection its 15 mins drive away. There is not much to do in town but it can be positive for someone who wants a lay back vacation away from all the tourists. Three things that are cons: 1. Check in. There were no signs leading us to the house and no bright sign in front of the house. It was hard to locate at night when we arrived, the house was pitch black. The code to the lockbox had changed so we needed to call the owner to obtain the new passcode before we could get into the house. 2. Water has a high iron content. There is a metal taste in drinking water and when taking shower, if you wash your towels in this water you will see the fabric dyed brown. We also had to go get our own gallons of drinking water for coffee and tea. 3. No trash pick up, this is harder when you have a large group. The check out instructions also say that you need to bring your own trash out, strip all the linens off the beds and put them next to the beds, which we still do not understand the reason. Overall our group of 10 enjoyed our stay and would recommend for the cleanliness, pretty view, outdoor amenities, and the house itself.

Look no further, this is where you need to stay!
I could not be more impressed by this property and property manager! My fiance, our dog and I wanted to get away for a long weekend just the three of us and this was just the place to do it. The cottage and house were very clean and inviting. The property had everything you needed and you could tell there was a lot of thought put into the amenities. Our dog really enjoyed the water access and we really enjoyed the scenery. This property is so close to downtown Northport which has so much to offer, cute shops, out door dining and a brewery. Its also not too far from Sutton's Bay (20 mins) , the Sleeping Bear Dunes (40 mins) and Traverse City (40 mins). We loved staying away from Traverse City and getting out of the hustle and bustle of the city, but still being just a quick ride to get a quick bite to eat or walk around. Both the cottage and the main house are so lovely, and I would highly recommend this property for a getaway with family or friends, or just a romantic weekend. The property manager and owner were so accommodating and quickly responded anytime there was a slight hiccup. We could not be happier that we choose this property for our early summer vacation and we will definitely be booking again!

Amazing! Amazing! Amazing!
This will be my first ever review. I believe any experience should be substantial enough for us to write a review and trust me my family and I have enjoyed the whole experience to the fullest. I don't know where I should start and end because there are so many amazing things to say about the host and the house. Right from the beginning Louise was very responsive like I used to get all my questions answered within few minutes and I've never called her the whole process was back and forth happening through VRBO messages which was very convenient for me while I was working. She helped me in early check in and late checkout which I will be very thankful for her. Coming to the main point the house was so beautiful and big. All the essentials were fully stocked. The views were mind blowing. Everyone loved paddling and canoeing. The house was kid friendly and all the kids had great fun. There are so many beautiful things about this house but I can't mentioning all those things in this small space. Overall, if this house is within your budget then just blindly go for it you will have such an amazing experience.

My father spent all his summer 5 houses away from our cottage. My husband grew up in Suttons Bay.

Why they chose this property

There are not many log cabins that have been restored with the modern flair that this cabin has.

What makes this property unique

Hall's Bay is an extremely calm bay, stunning views, one of the only boat cribs, all modern amenities.Brand new mattresses.
