Escape to Eden for vacation, retreats, reunions or weddings
This luxury year-round home sits on beautiful Lake Eden. Just 25 minutes north of renowned Stowe Village, you can enjoy all the seasons and seasonal activities. Inspired by 17th Century Scottish manors, and featured in Stowe Magazine (Fall/Winter 2017, page 198), this unique home features two mirror fireplaces (one in the kitchen and one in the living room), lake views from every room, a full kitchen with 48" commercial-grade range and all the appliances, generous bathrooms and room for 11 comfortably. There are two master king bedrooms ensuite, a queen bedroom, and bunk room consisting of one queen and three twin beds. TVs in the family room and all bedrooms (except the bunk room) have Dish TV with access to Amazon Prime, Hulu and Netflix. The walk-out lower level features a large HDTV, game table and French doors to the outside kitchen with seating for 6 diners as well as a fire pit perfect for s'mores and scary stories. The outdoor kitchen consists of a 36" grill, 2 burner side burners, fridge and built-in ice chest.
Enjoy a salt water hot tub under the stars after a kayak or canoe outing on the lake or a full day of skiing at one of the three nearby ski resorts. The home includes winter and summer toys for use on the water and in the generous meadow on secluded 7.5 acres.
Located in north-central Vermont, the property has convenient access to Stowe, Jay Peak, Mount Norris, the Long Trail and Canada.
Jay Peak and Stowe each offer great indoor activities such as bowling (Stowe), indoor water park (Jay). But outdoors is where you'll want to be for fishing rainbow trout and smallmouth bass, swimming and water sports on Lake Eden, a notably clean lake with clear inviting water temps. Summer fun ranges from watching the loons who nest on the lake and enjoying the duck families who nest just adjacent to our dock, to hiking nearby Mount Norris, the Moss Glen Falls and the Long Trail, which passes close to Eden off of Rte 118. Horseback riding at LaJoie Stables in nearby Jeffersonville is another fun outdoor option.
Fall brings us an amazing and renowned color foliage, apple cider, and fall festivals. This is a perfect time for antiquing and casual shopping.
Winter offers snowshoeing, downhill and cross-country skiing and snowmobiling on the VAST system that runs through the state. With three ski resorts to choose from, you can make a day of skiing, dining and exploring those communities.
Thinking of a private destination wedding? Consider the opportunity to rent the home for the wedding party and the pleasure of a garden wedding in a lovely setting WITHOUT all the tourists and hotel guests found at most resorts. Catering access and electrical outlets make the meadow a perfect spot for a tent, arbor or other feature - we can help with vendor contacts and specifics.

The house is beautiful and while I stayed at many different places, it was the first time I felt as though the owner had thoroughly thought about everything a guest could want or need. We had a great time and absolutely loved everything about it.

Thank you for your kind words! We're do glad you enjoyed your stay.
This home is gorgeous, spateous and comfortable. It was in the perfect central location for our group ski trip to Stowe, Jay Peak and Smugglers' Notch. The hot tub was great for relaxing post skiing. The kitchen is well stocked, which made the choice to eat in for breakfasts and a few dinners easy. We had a group of 9 and it worked out well that the 4 people who used the rooms upstairs with the private bathrooms were on earlier sleep schedules than those of us who slept in the bedrooms in the basement with the shared bath.
This is our second timing staying at this property and would highly recommend it! The property is peaceful and relaxing but also a close drive to the hustle and bustle of Jay Peak, Stowe and Smugglers Notch! Perfect spot for a beautiful getaway.
Everything about this house is gorgeous! Anne has impeccable taste! I can’t wait to book this place again for next year!

We are so happy you and your family enjoyed your stay! Our goal is to offer as comfortable a home-away-from-home as can be. We look forward to hosting you again - summertime is fun as well!
I rented this property four years ago and again in January 2024. The property was as beautiful and well cared for this visit as it was four years ago. The property is large, comfortable and well stocked. Our group of friends loved our stay and hope to visit again next year!
Anne’s home is gorgeous. The finishings are tasteful and luxurious. The kitchen is outfitted with everything you could need to prepare a big meal, including a huge stove with a flat top. Overall, the stay was perfect for a trip to Jay Peak, which is just about 30 minutes away.

We're so glad you enjoyed your visit! Hope you can return in the other seasons as well - it's great year-round!
This house is absolutely my favorite from all the VRBO houses we have stayed in so far.
The pictures are acurate, the house is stunning, clean, well stocked and beautiful location at the lake. Hot tub was perfect, fire place is great and the views from any room are amazing!
Perfect location for those who love to ski, several ski mountains within 30min.
We are hoping we can come back during the summer to enjoy the lake.
Communication with host Anne was perfect, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful house with us!

Thank you so much for your kind words! We're so happy you enjoyed your stay!
We had a wonderful stay here during the 2024 Eclipse. We were 11 people total, and we were all comfortable. The house has everything you need and more. If you like to cook, the kitchen has it all. There House Guide was organized so that there was not much guessing to find anything. The owners are quick to respond should any questions arise. I will recommend this place to friends looking to get away. Thanks!
The pictures of this house, as wonderful as they are, cannot do it justice. We found every inch of this house to be comfortable, beautiful, and welcoming. Your attention to detail was amazing. The beds were phenomenally comfortable. The kitchen was well thought out and very user-friendly. While I do not like pools and hot tub’s, that’s because of the chlorine smell, the salt, water, hot tub, however was exactly what my knees needed after the day on the slopes! Thank you very much
This property is absolutely stunning, inside and out. The home is immaculate, the furnishings are lovely and comfortable, and the grounds are beautiful. Two fireplaces, cozy beds, and lovely views out every window make this gracious place truly warm and welcoming! We hope to make EDEN an annual destination.
Gorgeous, clean home that has everything you could ask for. No detail is overlooked. Fully stocked kitchen and firewood for the huge in-kitchen fireplace. Owners very attentive and responsive to any and all questions. Highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a quiet getaway that is only 30 minutes to Jay Peak and Stowe. Great fun and plenty of room for 8 to 10 people. Thanks for a great vaca!
The property was amazing! It totally made our trip. The house itself was beautifully built, super clean with every amenity you need. The beds were very comfortable, linens luxurious. We sat by the outdoor fire pit overlooking Eden Lake while the kids went sledding Just a few feet away. There is a great mud room and laundry station for ease of use. You should bring in food as it is a little far to run out. We would stop by the butcher in Stowe on the way home from the mountain to bbq. Just an FYI Stowe mountain is about 45 minutes away, town 30 minutes, but honestly wasn’t a big deal. The property’s in a league all its own. I imagine summer would be amazing also.

Nice home, pretty setting, well stocked
The house is nice and well equipped. Beds were nice and comfy, rooms had lovely views. Kitchen was very nice. Enjoyed the fireplace and hot tub.
The area is very remote, with the closest grocery store about 25-30 min away. Make sure to plan ahead, we did and it was perfect. There’s no delivery restaurants nearby either.
The owners have great sleds for kids to use. Even the driveway was nice for little kids to sled. My kids really enjoyed getting a change of scenery. It was also nice you could pull into the garage as it was very cold there.
The house could use a good dusting. I am sensitive to dust, but there’s a lot of dust in corners, on shelves, etc. this may not bother most people. Maybe dusting is done periodically with the rental vacation home model. the kitchen needed wiped down when I arrived, there was someone else’s used stick of butter on the counter, but it was minor. I wish someone would have shoveled better to the hot tub, but they did provide shovels.
My only real complaint was the check out. After I arrived home and checked email I received two messages from the owner. First was saying we stained their sheets and they had to be washed and we may be charged. And that two blankets were missing. Then a few hours later another message saying the sheets were washed and now they’re clean so she was good but wanted to know where her missing blankets were or we would be charged. It made me a little uneasy as I had assumed bedding would always be washed. Luckily my son remembered seeing these red blankets in a drawer downstairs. But it made me a little uneasy thinking I could be at the mercy of whatever an owner deems as missing. You may want to document your stay and take time to do a full inventory.
Overall, if you’re looking for a nice home, remote location with beautiful views and comfy amenities, this will likely be a nice spot for you. Owner was responsive when we were looking for fire wood and responded very quickly.

Hi Kristen - thank you for your feedback. I did want to clarify about check out. My text to you asked if you could tell me where the blankets were, initially. Housekeeping puts them on the back of the sofa downstairs after every visit, so when they couldn't be located to refresh, I wondered if they'd accidentally gone home in a suitcase. Only if they were truly missing would I have charged to replace them. The linens, of course, are always cleaned after a visit. My comment was that if the stain had not come out, I would have to replace the bedding - I don't keep stained bedding even if they're cleaned. Fotunately, the stain did come out. I am sorry about the dust - it is dusted regularly but does accumulate when we have quick turnovers between guests. I have noted that to the cleaning staff as well as the counters in the kitchen.
Great place to be if you want to ski Jay Peak and Stowe! Everyone in the family enjoyed the location, house and privacy. House is well equipped and clean. Highly recommend!
Our group of 9 was extremely impressed with this immaculate house and property. There was plenty of space and everything was clean, accessible, well-stocked, and as pictured. We enjoyed the post-ski perks of the fireplaces and hottub. The view of Lake Eden was beautiful in the snow, but the lack of blinds made for very early, bright mornings. Nevertheless, I highly recommend and hope to go back!
Stayed in Vermont in the dead of winter, but the house couldn't have been warmer. Host was very communicative and helped us get in when the keypad froze in negative farenheit temps. House is extraordinarily well appointed and there are guides for virtually everything you could imagine needing right there in the house. Absolutely recommend this house for value, it should cost more per night than it does. In the meantime, treat yourself to a bargain.
We love to be outside but this place makes you pretty excited to get home. It’s beautifully designed, beautifully decorated, and expertly managed. Bedrooms are more spacious than they seem online and beds are very comfortable. Kitchen has an amazing range/oven and every tool you’ll think you’ll need. Fireplaces make winter evenings so cozy but this house doesn’t really get too cold due to the radiant heat. We had a great time at Jay Peak, Stowe, and Craftsbury Commons and walking over icy Eden Lake!
We had a fantastic long weekend getaway at Anne’s home. The fireplace and jacuzzi under the snow are fabulous. The house is spotless clean with everything you could need. We will definitely come back!

About the host
Hosted by Anne Ford
Why they chose this property
There's something very special about Vermont. Its beautiful, uncluttered environment and its resemblance to Scotland made it the obvious choice to build the unique home we wanted. Family summers spent on a lake meant we needed to find a similar setting so that the enjoyment of the water and the grounds could be experienced from the home as well as outdoors.
What makes this property unique
Having designed and built this home, we incorporated all our ideas into something that could be comfortably enjoyed by a large family gathering without feeling cramped. Our goal was to make it inviting for couples, groups and families. Truly 5-star vacationing at less than hotel prices per couple.
