About this property
Charming Hideaway - Walk to French Quarter
This 130-year-old house sits on a quiet, oak-lined street in the historic St. Roch neighborhood. It’s an easy walk to Frenchmen Street and the French Quarter, and surrounded by the local color of the Marigny and Bywater. Whether you're here for music, food, or architecture, this location makes it easy to explore—and easy to come home and rest.
The house itself is a lovingly maintained two-bedroom with high ceilings, French doors, and a few quirks to remind you you're in a place with history. It’s not a hotel—thankfully—but it is clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped for short- or long-term stays.
What You’ll Find Inside:
Two bedrooms in shotgun layout with real mattresses, soft linens, and plenty of blankets for a solid night’s sleep.
A full kitchen with gas stove, coffee setup, and plenty of cookware if you’re staying in.
A washer and dryer tucked off the bathroom—especially helpful for longer stays.
A bathroom with good water pressure, tankless hot water, and large walk in shower.
A cozy living room with comfy seating, fast Wi-Fi, and a smart TV.
Thoughtful touches throughout—from books and art to extra towels and kitchen basics.
Step Outside:
The courtyard is yours to enjoy during your stay. It’s a private space with brick underfoot, tropical plantings, and lights overhead—perfect for morning coffee, reading in the afternoon, or an evening cocktail. There's a grill available if you'd like to cook outside. Just ask if you’d like it set up with fuel.
The Neighborhood:
St. Roch is a residential area with deep history and a strong sense of place. You’ll see families, elders, artists, tradespeople, and musicians coming and going—folks who’ve lived here a long time, and others who’ve just arrived and fallen in love. The house is just a few blocks from the St. Roch Market (a great place for a quick bite or cocktail), and you're close to some of the best dining and nightlife in the city without being right in the thick of it.
You can walk to Frenchmen Street in about 15 minutes, and from there it’s just another 15 to Jackson Square. Rideshares are quick and affordable if you're venturing farther afield.
A Note About the Space:
This is a home with personality. It's not sterile or overly curated. Thoroughly clean, comfortable, and well stocked, it’s a little worn in, a little magical, and very representative of life here in NOLA.

About the host
Hosted by Jared Mouradian
I’ve called New Orleans home for over ten years and have been hosting travelers here since 2016. I live in a separate cottage just behind the rental house and consider myself a helpful neighbor to my guests—respectful of your space but nearby if you need anything. You may see me tending the garden or passing through the courtyard to my place, but otherwise, your time here is your own.
Hosting has been a rewarding way to share what I love about this city. I enjoy offering guests a place that’s restful, rooted, and easy to settle into. I'm quick to respond if any issues come up and always happy to share recommendations, directions, or insight into local life if you'd like. Feel free to reach out anytime before or during your stay. New Orleans is one of a kind—I think everyone should experience it for themselves.

Why they chose this property
This part of New Orleans—St. Roch—is a relaxed, residential enclave with deep history and a creative, down-to-earth spirit. It’s extremely walkable and central to so much: the Marigny, Bywater, and French Quarter are all nearby, but here you get to step back from the tourist rush and experience the rhythm of everyday local life.
The neighborhood has a bohemian, friendly feel and is home to a mix of longtime residents, artists, transplants, and curious visitors. The oak-lined boulevard leads you to the historic St. Roch Cemetery in one direction and the St. Roch Market in the other, where you’ll find a range of local vendors and food options. Within a few blocks are grocery stores, pharmacies, live music, galleries, and open-air markets. Whether you’re here for the culture, the nightlife, or just a change of pace, this neighborhood gives you real New Orleans—with room to breathe.

What makes this property unique
This is a true New Orleans home—built in the late 19th century in the early Greek Revival style, with original hardwood floors, 13-foot ceilings, and a classic shotgun layout that connects each room in a simple, elegant flow. The house offers a cozy living area, a well-equipped kitchen, full laundry, a main bedroom, a second private bedroom, and dual entrances for ease and added privacy.
It’s not a staged or modernized unit—it’s a lived-in space with warmth, character, and history. The courtyard is a highlight: tucked between the main house and my cottage, it’s strung with lights and surrounded by plants, perfect for morning coffee or winding down at night. Whether you're staying for a weekend or a few weeks, this place offers comfort, quiet, and a sense of connection to the city beyond the guidebooks.
