Great size and location

Home is a great size for our large family. Location is great also. Can walk to the beach, village and most restaurants. We really enjoyed our stay!

Convenient location, good house for family gathering.

Walking to the beach and restaurants was terrific. The master bedroom and bath very nice. The other beds were only so, so. There was a leg missing on a dressing table and stained upholstery in the office room. The garbage disposal and the vent for the stove didn't work, but otherwise the kitchen was great for cooking. We would stay there again.

Spacious and good location - would rent again

House was as described - very spacious and good parking. Kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, utensils, etc. Has a drip coffee maker and a keurig. Office space was a plus and was used a few times by several of us. Lots and lots of beach towels clean and folded in laundry room. New washer and dryer. Would suggest adding 3 more chairs to the front porch, as there were only 3. Same for back porch - only 3. Coffee table on back deck kinda shot, could be replaced. Enjoyed sitting on both the front and back porches depending on time of day. Appreciated the shade cover on the back porch - very effective. Gas grill is new and is huge - good for a house that may have a crowd eating dinner. Subzero refrigerator is also huge- also good for a big family's food.

Great location

We recently stayed at the house with four of our adult children and spouses while my husband and I got married on East Beach. The house was large enough to fit us all comfortably. We were disappointed in the amenities and service. The house came with ONE trash bag, ONE dish towel, 4 coffee cups, etc. For a five bedroom house, we would expect at least a few trash bags! The ice maker did not work. One of the toilets upstairs did not work. We reported that it needed a new handle/flapper assembly at 10:30 AM on the first morning of our stay. A handyman showed up a few hours later, said he could not repair it then and would come back. He did not show back up until noon today when we were checking out (we paid for late checkout). If it is raining, as it was during our stay, the front outdoor steps are very slippery. There was visible mildew on the stairs and the entire outside front of the house. I wish the owners would check out the current condition of the house, including the poor collection of cookware, glasses, etc. Very disappointed in the Vacasa management if this house.

Property manager was quick to answer my calls and Jeremy, the maintenance man, responded immediately to request for help with elevator and a/c operation. The property description on Homeaway needs to be redone - better pictures and more pix of the rooms, less pix of the island. I had to call for specific info on bed sizes - 1 king, 3 queens, 1 double. Some repairs needed to property: broken dining chair, tub faucet in upstairs hall bath stands 1” away from the wall, wide cracks in corners of showers/tubs, bed comfort subpar, control panel on microwave doesn’t light up - just have to guess, screen around hot tub loose in several places (the hot tub wasn’t available to us which wasn’t a deal breaker). Outside stairs very slippery when it rains and need non slip surface. No info book on heat/cool system (it was a Nest, I think, which we weren’t familiar with and not easy to figure out) no check out info in rental. I called the property manager for instructions. The positive is the elevator which I didn’t go looking for when searching for a rental. It came in quite handy with luggage. Early check in was appreciated. Good location within walking distance of beach and restaurants. Mullet Bay has good food. Nice neighborhood. Big t.v. in living room. Only other t.v. in master bedroom. Listen: spend some money to make repairs and get rid of the odd pieces of furniture (what is that behind the door in upstairs bedroom?) and chairs with shredded arms. The 2 sofa were comfortable and the large dining table was great for the 9 of us.

This is such a wonderful place to stay! I came here with some close friends and their kids. The house was very clean and the property manager sends you check-in information a couple of days before your trip so everything runs smoothly. All of the bathrooms came with soap, small bottles of shampoo and conditioner, and make-up wipes. The living room was large with lots of seating and a great TV to watch football! The kitchen was very well equipped with pots, pans, wine openers, can openers, pizza cutters, knives, etc. So we saved a lot of money cooking in! The kitchen even has a wine cooler and 3 types of coffee makers (original Nespresso, Keurig, and a standard coffee pot). The backyard was great and well lit! The beach is a 7 minute walk away if you access it through Fifth Street and a downtown area and pier are only a 15 minute walk away. Overall the adults and children had a great time! Would definitely recommend anyone to stay here :).

Nice comfortable home.

Papa's place on St Simons Island

The house was big and very nice, walking distance to the beach 5 minutes down the road and 15 minutes walking distance to downtown. My only complaint is that the yard needed cut and maintenance.

Group of Friends

The house is very spacious. We loved the large table that was perfect for accommodating all 10 of us for games and eating. We loved the open lay out we did not feel crowded at all. The room with the large table had doors so when the women were laughing and playing games the guys could shut the door to watch the Super Bowl. The only thing minor things missing would be a few potholders and coffee cups. We would definitely recommend the house, great communication with the manager and if we were in the area with a larger group we would rent again.

This was a great property for my family. Plenty of rooms and bathrooms. The living space and kitchen was very spacious. The kitchen was well supplied. It was great to be a short distance from the beach and the town area. I would stay here again!

Lovely, spacious, beach and pier village nearby

Enjoyed the natural light, open floor plan, multiple bedrooms and bathrooms. Plenty of clean towels and bedding. Besides specifics in need of repair (see Vacasa direct email) and need of a deep kitchen clean (see above for specifics) we enjoyed the quick access to the beach, the sidewalk (or beach) stroll to the village, and having multiple places to dine inside was convenient. Overall, the ambience of Papa's Place is very pleasant indeed.

From the moment that we first walked through the door, the house had a terrible odor. That odor would get worse at times and smelled like sewage. Upon looking around it appeared as though the filters had not been changed in a long while. When attempted to do a load of laundry, the washing machine made a terrible noise, leaked, and did not work. The dryer did not dry the half cleaned clothes and the lint trap looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. A person in my party was stung multiple time by the wasps from the wasp nest on the front porch. Lastly, when I called to notify the property manager, I was asked to try to fix the items. We have been staying at St. Simons Island for over 10 years and this was by far the worst house we have rented.

Great place for a beach get away
