This property was perfect, and the views were stunning. Mountains all around us and a place to sit outside and view their beauty on every level. The hot tub was a huge hit! I was very impressed with how the house was stocked with everything we needed. Plenty of dishes, silverware, crockpot, etc. I would love to rent this home again with my family!

Awesome

This cabin was so great for our large family. The location was perfect and close to RMNP and Estes Park. Wildlife in the back yard most every day. We had no problems with the cabin, but had to contact Sharon, the manager, just for a couple of things and she quickly responded and helped us. We will return to this cabin again if we can. Absolutely wonderful!

Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed our stay! The cabin is beautiful, so well stocked, lots of space and plenty of bedrooms for everyone. We gathered in the sunroom, played board games, built a snowman, sledded and more. Eight deer visited the cabin on Saturday and Sunday, and we saw two moose yesterday also! Thank you…we arrived after dark and the Christmas lights/Christmas tree being on was very welcoming, and bringing us extra firewood was so thoughtful. After it snowed all night, it was a welcome surprise for someone to come plow the driveway and shovel the walk! Thank you again for sharing your property with us. We will definitely recommend it to our family and friends, and we hope to be back soon!

Family Reunion Christmas with young children

The Rivendall Log Cabin is in a wonderful location (hiking trailhead, RMNP adjacent, and Estes Park nearby) and large enough to house a family reunion of fourteen. The cabin was nicely decorated for Christmas. There are numerous sitting areas on each of the three floors to enjoy the views and meals. The lower ratings are due to (1) uncleanliness on arrival, (2) a broken window, (3) inability to handle trash, (4) out-of-order hot-tub, and (5) absence of help by on-site property manager/owner. While this may be unusual, it was a downer for us.

Rivendell did not disappoint!

Our family truly were blown away by the stunning views of the Rocky Mountains from the porch and master bedroom deck of Rivendell. The house had every amenity we could possibly enjoy including two picnic tables. We really enjoyed eating our meals outdoors on these tables while enjoying the many deer grazing the property and views of the surrounding mountains. Also enjoyed the sounds of birdsong and insects emanating from the land around Rivendell, which is kept natural. We have a family member who is wheelchair bound and it was very easy for her to navigate the house. Can’t recommend Rivendell highly enough! Lots of great memories made this trip.

The PERFECT Place for our Run Away Marraige

This property is SO amazing and hosted by a wonderfully attentive family. The home sits on a beautifully picturesque scene for whichever angle you look. It's spacious and has enough room for us all to be together or to taper off and relax one on one. The wildlife was unlike any other and we were able to see elk, deer and bobcats and had the chance to see bear tracks. It's about a brisk walk away from a trail head that has a beautiful hike to some breathtaking views. The owners of this property are so wonderful! They made it extremely easy to access the property, gave wonderful tips and tricks for us and even madea point to check in to make sure we made it in the home. They were a joy to rent from and unlike any other host I've come in contact with. The Newly Wed Ginzel Family will ABSOLUTELY be back to celebrate. We're so thankful to have found this home and the family that hosts it.

The Rivendell was just as listed, LOVED the porch!! Wonderful location, close to Estes and RMNP yet far enough away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Estes. No issues with water as others have stated(we had 10 in our party that stayed there). Dan, owner and Trish, property manager were wonderful to work with. Saw lot of wildlife during our stay. Would definitely stay here again! Thank you Heard/Drew families for sharing your cabin with us!!

Great home near Estes Park!

We were so lucky to have found this property and they were able to accommodate us last minute when our other lodging fell through. This home is huge! With more than enough space for our family of 4. Check in process was super quick and easy with instructions sent to us the day before. House was clean and inviting on a beautiful piece of property with a view of the stunning mountains of RMNP. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub that was hot and ready to go and the kids enjoyed the ping pong room! The house is just minutes way from Estes Park and RMNP.We were bummed about the water situation though. Upon our arrival we were told to not use the washing machine due to low water levels in the cistern which was less than ideal but I don’t think it’s something that happens often. All in all we enjoyed our stay very much and would love to book this home again.

Driving to the Rocky Mountain entrance was very close. The shortage of water was an issue because the area was in a drought, but we managed

Great stay!

We really enjoyed 5 days with our extended family of 14. One issue: water. This house has it, but not much of it. If you have a large group and plan on doing laundry, showering, etc., be aware there are signs placed throughout the house cautioning about the cistern’s capacity.A warning about that prior to arrival could have helped us, as my family of 8 had already been on the road for a week and planned on doing laundry.Aside from that, it was a truly wonderful stay. Lovely house, and what a view…

Remote but close!

Great get away for the family! The park was just 6 minutes down the road but hardly any neighbors. We loved the porch. This is where I spent most of my time. It was quiet from the rest of the house and had an amazing view. The house was well stocked and the 4 living spaces gave us the room we needed to spread out.The only thing we wish we knew was that we weren't allowed to use the washer because of the dry season. We would have prepared better as this was the last stop on our trip and our whole group was planning on doing laundry at this house. The YMCA just down the road was able to accommodate that for us however

Host profile image
Dan and Kelly Heard and their daughter and son-in-law Kendra and Patrick Drew are Texans who enjoy several weeks in the Colorado Rockies each year. We have owned this property together since September of 2014 and have enjoyed improving it and sharing it with family, friends, and many fantastic vacationers. Our favorite times are when our other children and grandchildren are all here together.

Why they chose this property

We have owned this property together since September of 2014 and have enjoyed improving it and sharing it with family, friends, and many fantastic vacationers. It is next to the YMCA so you can travel here with friends. We are on a little river too and we can hike directly into the RMNP!

What makes this property unique

In the summer we love hiking together and in the winter snow shoeing close by or skiing at Eldora just over an hour away. We are a little out of town, so you feel private and secluded, but dinner is just 10 minutes away.
