About this property
Residence de l'Acacia - House
The "Residence of Acacia" offers those who prefer old stones to anonymous hotels the space of relaxation and adventure of their own discoveries in one of the most beautiful regions of the South of France. . . P R O V E N C E G A R D O I S E In the Cèze valley we discovered an old farmhouse that offered everything we have been looking for for a long time, with these two entrances: One that opens directly in the center of the old village of St. André which facilitates contact with the locals who kindly welcome the residents. With the accent of the Midi we like to tell the little stories of this very old village, on the "big place", in the cafe or when the butcher honks. St. André has retained an exceptional charm with these narrow streets lined with small stone houses, covered with old tiles, the beautiful flowers between the ocher-colored stones where a few palm trees secretly grow in interior courtyards. The other entrance to the "Residence" opens to the large garden, where there are paths that start directly from our property and lead through the garrigue, along fields of lavender and vineyards (vin de pays and Côte du Rhône), olive and fig trees. Mediterranean light, a clear sky full of stars at night, the scent of "Provence herbs" growing around the house ... Do you understand why we stayed here? . . . going on foot, you will also find: wild gorges, clear, cool water, rapids and waterfalls, a canoe paradise, rocks and cliffs equipped for climbing, caves and downstream and a pebble beach for fishermen and bathers. And yet, St. André has managed to shelter from large masses of tourism - to keep his calm and his savoir vivre. Hopefully it will stay that way. In the old house we have created some holiday apartments of different sizes. Do not expect a luxury resort of international style - no, we have respected the simplicity of the house and the village. We try to practice green tourism, together with the locals. . . And that's just the beginning. Here: "House" 5 rooms on 2 floors; ground floor: large kitchen, living room (1 convertible sofa); bathroom (shower, WC); first floor: 2 bedrooms (2 x 2 single beds = 0.90m x 2.00 m); 1 bedroom (2 x 2 single beds = 0.90m x 2.00 m), 2 single beds = 0.90m x 2.00m on the mezzanine); individual entry furnished terrace To shelter from the heat of summer or from the rain, sit with your friends in the meeting room under the large ancient vaults in old stones, a popular meeting place. During the school holidays we organize from time to time all kinds of activities, according to the seasons and the wishes of our hosts, for example hikes, climbing, visits, speleology (don't forget a good torch), wood fires, various evenings. The program is posted in the meeting room.
From time to time, there are also events from other organizations, which have rented apartments or the whole house (see: groups): for example language courses, practical courses, and regular painting courses. The large terrace in the interior courtyard is a meeting place that facilitates contact. The hosts sometimes spontaneously organize barbecue evenings, unforgettable especially for children. Why not taste the good wines of the region together? Barbecue. JPG (608705 Byte) If you prefer tranquility, you will find a peaceful place all year round, in the middle of nature and Provencal vegetation on our large plot directly behind the house (marked hiking trails from the private parking lot).
For children and adolescents, there is plenty of room in the wilderness - far from the danger of the roads. Often we have seen children from big cities playing for hours with stones by the river or climbing trees, without asking for TV or their video games… and they are the ones who ask their parents to come back the year next to meet their friends at the "Résidence de l'Acacia". During the heat of summer, our small swimming pool is the favorite place for young and old. She is there for refreshment - real swimming is possible in the river a few steps away. Deckchairs and chairs are at your disposal around the swimming pool and in the raised garden.
