Cute one-bedroom apartment with ocean view and beach access in a quiet neighborhood on the west side of the island. Very clean and nice, and management is very responsive if needed.

My 2nd Stay

This was my 2nd time to stay at Hale Kekaha and yet again it didn’t disappoint. Such a beautiful location, has everything you need and is just as pictured. Truly couldn’t ask for a better place in Kekaha. Our communication with the Property Mgr was fantastic and they are very accommodating. Will be staying again in the future! Thank you so much!

1st trip to kauai.

Incredibly hard to find! Pictures are very outdated. Judging from the pictures, the beach was right across the street. Huge selling point for me, had plans to just chill there. No beach at all over there. Very disappointed. That being said, The property was very nice. Inside things were set up very well.

Great stay

We had everything we needed. Bed was good, shower was great, out door area was a little noisy. Traffic was a little loud. We like the area because it has more of a small town local feel.

Kekaha - the less touristed corner of Kauai

Great easy living here for three weeks. Wonderful lanai. Ample space and a well equipped simple kitchen. The ocean is right across the street. Distance may be an issue, though for us we mainly stayed local south side as we’ve explored the island many times before. Close to Waimea Canyon and hikes, good swimming at Salt Pond Beach, walking on Kekaha beach, and enjoying Hanapepe and Waimea towns.

Hear the waves crash!!!

The property was nice, overall. Comfortable. A bit misleading, though. We needed and paid for a 2bdrm place. It was that but the 2nd room was not adjoining. There’s no access from the inside. We had to walk outside across the porch and gain access through the sliding glass door. It was a super tiny studio apartment. Though, it did have a decent a/c window unit. The beds were very comfy. The kitchen was well stocked with proper utensils, equipment & dinnerware. Nice gas stove & oven. Nice working toaster, coffeemaker and big cold refrigerator..The ocean is just across the highway and at night it is so serene to hear the waves crashing against the huge lava rock wall. I suggest earplugs though, for the light sleeper because the highway is just in front of the property and with the windows open it can be a bit too noisy. It can get a bit too warm for me so I often shut the windows and turned on the a/c unit. THAT is a Godsend. I so appreciated the garage full of beach equipment at our disposal. Chairs, snorkeling gear, umbrellas, beach towels. It was also so convenient to have access to a proper washer/dryer. Most of the activities we booked were quite a ways away from this property. We did a lot of driving to Lihue, Po’iipu beach, Hanalei and a few other beaches. Also, I strongly suggest checking in before it gets dark. It does get very dark there. At night it’s hard to drive slow enough on the highway to look for street addresses & visual aids the directions we’d printed

Island Gem

We had a great experience! Directions 🧭 were great but our flight ✈️ was delayed and we arrived late in the evening and relied on our GPS which did not quite direct us to the correct location. I ended up having to call 📞 Cindy and she was so helpful in guiding us. We were only a couple blocks away and she was able to figure out how to get us to our rental over the phone. We really appreciated her being so kind. Thank you Cindy! 🙏🏽 We rented the back upstairs apartment and once inside we were so happy 😁 with the space and cleanliness. It was perfect. And, although we were in the back apartment, we still had a view of the ocean from the balcony, and we had no problem hearing the ocean waves 🌊. And on a clear night the evening sky ✨ is amazing! Everything we needed was there including beach chairs, boogie boards, beach umbrella, beach towels and even insulated bags and ice chest. We had no worries taking our day trips to the beach 🏖 Although the beach across the street is not accessible it is only a short drive to beautiful beaches nearby. Waimea canyon was also a short drive. We would definitely rent again!

West Side BEST Side!!

We are regular visitors to Kauai. The property is right on the road, but zero noise. Clean, well equipped and beautiful views. The Grill actually had GAS, so we could cook out when we wanted, flowers smelling wonderfully everywhere. The location was fansatic for vistas of Niihau and sunsets on the deck. Kekaha is a small town of locals, with few amenities,,, however..... in town near the post office is a little convenience store with the absolute BEST Poke's and that fantastic hawaiian Maccaroni salad,,, dont miss it !! Turn left on the road to Waimea Canyon and there is a fresh fruit and papaya stand,,,,, dont waste your time anywhere else!! Up the road in Waimea is a steak house that is out of this world, a shave ice stand called Jo Jos that is the ultimate shave ice stand. Big Save grocery has everything you need for food. Right after the hospital a local fisherman sells fresh Ahi Tuna, and locally caught fish,,,, we never went out for dinner after that, cooked fish in the room. The property has a full laundry which is very convenient, beaches are right across the road, dark sands, which are warm even in winter temps,,, always a wonderful breeze, everything was supplied and worked exactly as described in the info we were sent, first VRBO where I had zero issues, zero questions,,, just a super nice relaxing vacation, wonderful beaches, freshest best fruit in the world and delicious coffee and seafood. We will be back!!

Relaxed environment

This Condo is where we wanted to be, away from the tourist hotspots. We rented the studio, also. We were able to unwind and enjoy the beauty of the island without time constraints. Our days consisted of morning coffee on the lanai listening to the birds and ocean waves while watching the charter boats sail by toward the Nāpali Coast. After breakfast we enjoyed the beauty of the island driving to so many places well known to travelers and places only locals know. Scott suggested buying the book, 'The Ultimate Kauai Guide Book Kauai Revealed by Andrew Doughty' on Amazon. I bought it about 3 months before our trip. Thank you, Scott! It was very informative and gave us great information. The author divides the areas West Shore, Southern Shore, East Shore, and Northern shore. That made it easy to plan excursions for each area on a daily basis. We don't mind the drive it took to explore the island, as we live rurally, so we are use to driving 30 minutes or more one way to work, play, or adventures. It felt like home away from home with insects to boot. It's not an airtight Condo and flora is surrounding it so it's natural. We did need to call Cindy for help identifying and entering the premise, even though we had our instructions, it didn't identify by the Condo numbers that were on the outside of each unit. She was totally understanding and gave clear instructions. Thank you, Cindy. We appreciated how stocked the paper products were and cooking essentials such as spices and oil.

Not really a 2bdrm-Main unit was great

The main unit on this property was great! However, it was not the same with the studio unit. That unit was NOT remodeled recently, as the ad stated, the fact that the unit was upstairs was not mentioned in the ad and it really should NOT be billed as a 2bedrm 2 bath given that the extra unit is NOT attached to the main unit-there was also no way to lock the door to the studio unit from the outside. Apparently, the instructions for entering both units had changed, and we needed to call the contact person to get in [she was not full of aloha-just FYI]. The shower in the studio unit was VERY tight fit AND there were ants all over the bathroom. Overall, next time I would only rent the main unit.

Beautiful beachfront bungalow

Our stay was wonderful. I was born on Kauai and raised in Kekaha, and not wanting to crowd my family home, we rented this spot, and it was incredible. Being able to hang out on the lanai and watch the ocean, or swing on the hammock in the gorgeously well-kept garden - it’s Kekaha at its finest. The AC units worked perfectly as well, which is vital for the town we fondly call KekaHOT. I appreciated how check in/check out was seamless, and how all the amenities mentioned in the listing were provided!

Great place to stay away from the crowds and tourists!

We had a wonderful stay in Kauai. The property was nice and clean, away from the hustle and bustle of the more populated tourist areas. The beach was a short walk across the street and the access to Waimea canyon is unbeatable. The kitchen is equipped for basic cooking and the bbq is great for cooking home meals. The town of Waimea is a short drive and there's a nice grocery store and a handful of restaurants. Just be aware that restaurants are not open every day so plan accordingly. We had some great outings with some local fishing guides as well which was great to catch some fresh fish to cook. The only minor, and I do me minor, things with the property are the AC units (window style) were a bit loud at night, and the highway in front of the place can be a bit noisy at times with traffic and loud cars/trucks driving up and down. That being said, I had no issues sleeping, but if you're sensitive to noise at night, just be aware. But for the location and price, this was an excellent place to stay!

Great stay with one exception

The house was well stocked, kitchen well equipped , and the bed was excellent. Communication with owner was outstanding. The courtyard was as lovely as pictured and the bbq was really nice.We were very close to the state parks in Waimea Canyon and the beach. Not far from the beaches and small towns between Kekaha and Lihue. The downside was the traffic noise that started very early in the morning and the neighbor who set off noisy fireworks late at night. This isn’t the owners’ fault but something we had to listen to. If you’re a light sleeper the outside noise could be problematic.

Great view

The property was in a great place to stay. My main concern was with the cleanliness. The bathrooms were filthy! A ring in the toilet. The bathtub has net been scrubbed in ages. A yellow ring behind the sink faucets. I'm not a clean freak, but I expect a place that we are renting to be much better than that. I do hope this is helpful.
