Support our local fisherman and purchase fresh seafood locally or catch your own. Enjoy the scenery. Pods of dolphin can be seen swimming right off the bulkhead. Otter occasionally sun themselves on the Dock and banks. You will often see Bald head eagles, Osprey and all manner of sea birds from the large Sound side windows. Enjoy your coffee from the comfort of the great room while you experience the peace of the Albemarle Sound. Watch the Sunset and enjoy an outside fire in the brick firepit. Sit on the dock, or lay a blanket or yoga mat out and enjoy the sun. Explore the Sound by kayak, or wade out into the waist high water. Play pool, darts or ping pong in the downstairs games, sports room. Watch awestruck as waves break over the bulkhead during a storm. Walk to the little community park and play a game of tether ball or basketball. The boat ramp is right next to the park for your personal water craft.

There are also steps into the water for easy access and to get in and out of the kayaks.

About the host
Hosted by Beth Younger

My husband and I undertook the journey of owning a vacation home a couple of years ago. He is a retired Fire Captain and I am a retired RN. We love horses and the water. Our second careers are teaching horseback riding in the Sandhills of North Carolina. We discovered the Inner Banks after my father bought his vacation home at Albemarle Sound. We would love for you to come and enjoy what we have found here and in the quaint shops and historic areas of Edenton and Hertford.
Why they chose this property
This home has one of the best views of Albemarle Sound at Holiday Island. We purchased it after it had been ravaged by multiple storms and needed a lot of TLC. The headboard in 2 of the bedrooms are salvaged wood from some of the storms. We love to reuse and re-purpose things. The stairs going down to the basement had no banister and no protection from falling right down the stairs. We used old tobacco barn poles and old doors from a torn down depression house to make it safe. We used drift wood for the railing. We have worked very hard so that each thing we have done means something to us, a memory of hard work or good times with family. The dining room table was made by my father in law from wood that came from his farm. Everything has a story.
What makes this property unique
We love looking at the water. We feel tranquil and more at peace. There was a fantastic Thunderstorm last month with a lightening show that went on for an hour that we watched from the great room windows. In Spring and Fall, we have the doors open at night and listen to the waves breaking against the bulkhead or sit out on the dock looking at the stars. Water Winds is a quiet place. The only noise you will hear are the birds and the fish jumping and an occasional boat going by.
