The Baldwin House with a Peach Floor is a Victorian house built in 1907. The house has been well maintained and still sports original beautiful woodwork, radiator heating, and a fabulous sleeping porch. The house has been in our family since 1968 and is family owned and operated now. Furnishings in the house are eclectic with an artsy Victorian BoHo flair. There are four full bedrooms, a sleeping porch, and a Victorian BoHo hippie pad on the third floor that is available to groups over six. Hopefully you will be able to enjoy the large sleeping-porch off of Steph’s Room (weather permitting). There is one full bed on the sleeping-porch and one twin bed. Perfect for reading, telling stories, and just enjoying the weather, without being directly outside. The sleeping porch does not have climate control so keep that in mind when booking larger groups. Groups over 6 people can use the boho hippie pad on the third floor. Vaughn’s bedroom on the second floor sleeps two with a double bed, Steph’s room sleeps one with a single bed (The sleeping porch is off Steph’s room), Elizabeth’s Room has a double bed, downstairs is Joe’s room which has a private bath and includes a queen bed. In total the house will sleep 11 people year round and 13 in fair weather. The bedrooms are serviced by ac window units, not central air. The downstairs is cooled by a mini-split. The kitchen is fully stocked and ready for you to cook and bake. There are two tandem bicycle available that you are encouraged to use! Pedal around our little town and see all the sites, including the beautiful Baker University Campus. You are free to use the brick patio, which is spacious and perfect for spring and fall dinning. There is a charcoal grill available on the patio. The side yard is spacious and lovely for playing crochet or other yard games. Board games are plentiful in the house including; dominoes, Scrabble, Mensa games, various card games, Chinese checkers, marbles, words up, cribbage, backgammon, and pente.

We were in town for the weekend for a wedding. The house was very reasonably priced. Great location! The host was very nice. She is an artist and a collector. She has a lot of her projects on display and shares a lot of her collections.
Check in was easy. She had little notes throughout the house giving instructions, reminders or fun facts about the house. Brilliantly decorated! It was a pleasure to stay in the home!
A beautiful old house, loads of charm, plenty of space, comfortable beds, well-stocked kitchen, great back yard and patio, right across the street from a grocery store. We loved our stay!
Everything was clean, the furniture and beds were comfortable. There were several flies in the house which was annoying. There is a bunch of eclectic stuff in the house, some of it cool to look at, some of it not so cool (stuffed rats). I think that some of the mask and mannequins were scary if you wake up in the middle of the night (you're just not prepared for them). All in all, we enjoyed the place and had a good time.
From the mannequins, dolls, and to the artwork the house was very interesting and a good conversation piece. Debi was very accommodating and the house was comfortable and roomy for our group to stay.

Thank you for the review. So nice to hear you enjoyed the home. You are welcome back any time. Enjoyed having you as a guest.
We had 13 at the house and we still had plenty of room. The neighborhood was pleasant to walk in and overall the house was fun to stay in.
Our host was very accommodating and friendly to work with! Thank you for a memorable stay!

Linda and group were the best guest ever! Communication was great throughout and they left the house immaculate, even stripped all the beds. I highly recommend Linda as a guest.
We needed to replace a multi-room hotel option with someplace we could stay that was relatively close to the KU main campus in Lawrence and would accommodate our need for more than one bedroom and not break the bank. This charming house in Baldwin City was an amazing find and a lovely surprise! We were just 20 min from campus and were completely charmed by the intricacies of the house. Clean, well maintained, and a great place for a weekend with our family. We will definitely be back again!
Eclectic, creative, historic centrally located home
Wow! What a great place! Very spacious, centrally located and cleverly decorated. Loved all the details and interesting items to discover... absolutely spotless. Kitchen one of the best appointed I've seen, and beautifully vintage! The host was an excellent communicator and very accommodating. Within walking distance of campus, downtown, and a dollar store. You will be happy you chose this place and the beautiful town of Baldwin City

It was a pleasure to host Shannon. She is the perfect guest. She left the house in good condition and it was my pleasure to meet her and have a nice chat. I welcome her back anytime and highly recommend.
The house was musty. We had to clean the bathroom and vacuum the floor. Someone did not do their job.
We loved Baldwin City..... hated the house!

Advice-next time you have a compliant, you might want to consider letting the owner know as soon as you arrive. And also consider responding when the owner sends you messages asking if everything’s OK. I reached out to you several times during your visit and heard nothing back. The house is immaculate and I find it hard to believe that you would have had to vacuum or clean a bathroom.
I suspect you are impossible to please?
I’m glad you liked our city!

Well, initially the listing stated the "care taker" wouldn't be on site during the summer months, but after I booked and paid, was notified he was staying at the property. The owner did make him make other arrangements when I said I was uncomfortable with that. When I arrived at the home, the house was not ready and the owner and her grandson were there doing laundry. There was a terrible odor coming from the care takers room and the kitchen was stocked with open food items, which was extremely difficult to keep the children out of. I do not recommend children staying at this house because of all the antiques. The home itself is beautiful and the owner was very nice and accommodating.
A little bit of everything. A little unconventional. A little weird. And completely, unapologetically me.
I’ve never fit neatly into one box—and honestly, I’ve never wanted to.
I love deeply. I create. I care. I wander. I work. I get muddy. I rescue things. I write. I make art. I chase adventures. I worry about the world. I love animals probably more than people sometimes. And I’m always dreaming up the next thing.
This is me.
Not polished. Not cookie-cutter. Not ordinary.
Just a wild and crazy human trying to make this one life count. ❤️
Why they chose this property
This house is the house that built me.
It’s the house I grew up in. The place where our family gathered, made memories, celebrated, argued, laughed, and loved. It was simply home.
When our father passed away and the family decided to put the property up for sale, I couldn’t imagine a time when we wouldn’t all be able to gather here. I couldn’t let the house that held so much of our family’s history become someone else’s story.
My youngest child was born in this very house!
I feel incredibly blessed that I was in a position to purchase it and give it a new life. I renovated it, made it my own, and filled it with the things I love—art, memories, and plenty of wonderfully weird treasures.
It’s different now.
But underneath it all, it’s still our home.
The walls may have changed. The artwork certainly has. 😉 But the heart of this house remains the same.
Some houses are just houses.
This one is part of my family. ❤️
What makes this property unique
This house is not for everyone—and that’s exactly what makes it special. It’s eclectic, artsy, a little bit “outsider art,” and definitely different. This is not your Better Homes & Gardens kind of house.
I happen to love art on the strange, unexpected, and slightly weird side. So if that’s your thing, welcome. If it’s not…keep scrolling. This house probably isn’t for you. 😉
There are mannequins—several of them. Sock monkeys galore. Vintage dolls. A touch of Frida Kahlo flair. Sunflowers, angels, and paintings inspired by the pasture-burning Flint Hills. It’s a mix of the unexpected, the nostalgic, the beautiful, and the downright quirky.
Eclectic is definitely the word.
I hope you love this house as much as I do. But if you prefer a cookie-cutter world where every house looks the same…well, the Holiday Inn is that way. 😏
Come for the house. Stay for the weird. ❤️
