About the Area
Nestled just 4 miles inside the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park is the charming and historic town of Wawona. Located at the base of Chilnualna Falls (the second-highest vertical-drop waterfall in Yosemite) and home to the principal trailheads into the southern Yosemite wilderness, Wawona is also the closest town to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. Wawona has the feel of a small town but is bustling with activity! Over 160 residents, including Yosemite Park employees, live in Wawona and can be seen gathering at the town's community center, playing a pickup basketball game at the elementary school, jogging on one of the many picturesque trails, or simply walking their dogs and baby strollers through the winding residential streets. The historic Wawona Swinging Bridge boasts the best natural water slide in the Park! The history village is filled with docents, stagecoach rides, horseback rides, and barn dances in the summer season, and the Wawona Meadow Loop offers year-round riparian meadow wildlife viewing. Wawona was known to the local Native Americans in their language as Pallachun (a good place to stay). It is located entirely within Yosemite National Park (it preceded the founding of the park as a national recreation area) and is located on the South Fork of the wild and scenic Merced River, on the main highway (State Route 41) from Fresno to Yosemite Valley. Galen Clark, who helped gain preservation legislation for Mariposa Grove and what later became part of Yosemite National Park, occupied the Wawona area in 1855 and established a tourist rest and modest ranch, which he later sold and made into a hotel and resort property (the Wawona Hotel). The Wawona post office was established in 1878 and was originally called Clark's Station. The Redwoods in Yosemite has over 120 vacation rental homes and is proud to say that all of them are located in Wawona. All are within walking distance to everything that Wawona has to offer, and every one of them is surrounded by the majesty of Yosemite National Park!

The cabin was wonderful! Cozy and had everything we needed. Loved being surrounded by trees, the patio was great with the sounds from the creek, and the furnishings were comfortable. The bed was a bit too firm but everything else was great! Would stay again!

Excellent location, easy check-in process. Improvements:A few less cobwebs, a few more amenities (containers to put food in for example and a working ice machine). The fee is high and amenities could easily be included.
We enjoyed day excursions into Yosemite and relaxing in the cabin.

This was a super cute cabin with a great deck and view of the trees. There is a great hike right near the property and an awesome rocky river right behind property. Super cute!

Perfect location close to Yosemite. It's inside Yosemite NP so check in at the south entrance once and avoid lines each day! Cabin is in a very wooded, private area so no other cabins right next door. Very clean with a big back deck. Highly recommend!!

Great views, private
Nice cottage with quirky heating- works too well sometimes. Close to swinging bridge trail. Inside Yosemite NP so easy to get going in the Am without waiting to get through the entrance gate. Great for 2 people.
Loved the visit to this cabin in Redwood Village. Very peaceful and at night the sound of crickets and the nearby waterfall was perfectly soothing. Little store close by, and the Wawona hotel is only 5-10 mins away if you want to dine out. Drive to the valley is about an hour but it's a lovely drive. Overall, this was a very comfy and enjoyable place to stay.

A wonderful cabin sitting among the redwoods. The cabin itself was perfect and worked well for us. However, sitting out on the deck, in the beautiful grove of various trees, listening to the sounds Chilnualna Creek was the best part. What a treat.

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Disliked: Cleanliness
just ok
Property could have used some more cleanliness. covered in dust. The swing on the porch was questionable for use- wood all split, large tree trunk on porch that seemed to be termite infested. Stairs leading to the bedroom were very high not code. Steps should be 7 inches these were at least a foot and although there were just a few they were hard to climb for even an average height person. Toilet was stained and dirty. Only provided one wash cloth, towel and hand towel for a 4 night stay! When I called them about they acknowledged they only provide one, you have to go to the office and walk down steeps steps to the laundry area to get anymore. That's a real inconvenience, more should have been in the cabin to accommodate the length of stay and at the very least if you have to go to the office at least have them easily accessible. They also don't provide any laundry detergent not even a small starter even though there's a washer and dryer in the cabin, you have to go to the office walk down the same steep steps to buy it. For the price at over 500 a night these simple amenities should have been included. There was a musky smell...could use some fresh air. The ac/heat units were kind of hard to operate with the remote it was hit or miss. The cabin was secluded I liked that, the location was ok, not great with regard to the proximity of the parks attractions.
Fully appointed kitchen, comfortable furniture, wonderful view of big trees, quiet. In March it is cold, and heat was efficient and quiet, bedding was warm, and shower water nice and hot.
We couldn’t have been happier with our experience. From the cabin and it’s placement to the hiking options from the front door!
I have already encouraged family and friends to try to secure the same cabin.
I know we will again!

Thank you so much for the kind words!! We are happy to hear that your trip went well!! Hope to host you again soon!
Wonderfully peaceful and serene. A great escape from the stressor of modern living and technology. The bench swing facing the trees was divine. Definitely a place to return to for future relaxation retreats.
We stayed here for our wedding trip to Yosemite. The cabin was private and it allowed pets. This was one of the main reasons for booking since we needed to bring our dog with us. Checking in was super easy. They were very helpful to communicate with someone before booking and answer my questions. The kitchen was really nice and the house’s layout was fun. There was a weird smell in the house, probably from the old wood. The deck looked nice in the photos but the swing was rotting and the other furniture needed cleaned. The carpet could also use replacing. We probably wouldn’t stay here again but it was nice for what we needed during our visit. It was close to the Wawona Hotel where family and friends were staying. It’s also close to a market.
