About this property
Peaceful Hilltop Casita w/ Stunning Views, Close to the Historic Plaza
Our casita, Cielito Lindo, is located in exclusive North Hills, situated at an altitude of 7,200 ft. on a serene and beautiful hilltop, three minutes from the historic Santa Fe Plaza, galleries, restaurants, shopping and night life. Experience sunrises and sunsets as you've never seen before. Night is especially magical in North Hills. In the summer, sit outside on your private portal listening to the wind sighing in the piñons. Gaze at stars so bright you can almost touch them. Hear the howl of coyotes in far-off hills and, in between, a serene and profound silence unique to the high desert country of northern New Mexico. In the winter, build a roaring fire in the kiva and snuggle in with a book, music or television or just listen in silence to the crackling fire. Cielito Lindo is a place to reconnect - with yourself and with the world around you.
Situated on a hilltop off a quiet street with private parking, Cielito Lindo offers a cosy, romantic getaway that features a large living room complete with a Kiva fireplace, 50" TV, and stereo system. The bedroom offers a queen bed, along with plenty of closet space. The den can also be used as a second bedroom complete with a sleeper sofa or as an office while working away from home.
This casita is ideal for a writer, painter, arts lover, couple or family in search of serenity and all the natural beauty that Santa Fe has to offer.
For those interested in working offsite, the casita has high speed internet accessed through cable. The service provider is Xfinity and our plan includes their Performance Pro internet (300 Mbps download speed, gaming, multiple devices), and digital TV.
Conveniently located about 1 mile from the historic Santa Fe Plaza, shops, grocery stores, galleries and museums and a 12-minute drive from the world-famous outdoor Santa Fe Opera.

We had a wonderful time at Cielito Lindo! The views of the sky as the clouds paraded by was enjoyable especially when the sun sets! Communication with Chris and Marie was excellent. Thanks for a memorable time at this casita!
What a fantastic casita! Great location, cheerful and warm ambience, with every convenience you can imagine It was incredibly comfortable and very private. We'll be returning at our earliest opportunity.
Peaceful is the perfect description for this charming casita! The hosts are close by but not at all intrusive. Everything you need is provided. The linens are nice quality and the housekeeping is top notch. The location is ideal. Five minutes from the plaza, but up and away from the crowd. The sunsets are amazing and there is a general feeling of serenity and safety. Highly recommend!
We stayed at the casita for 5 nights and it was fantastic! The location was perfect, the casita had everything we needed and we would definitely stay there again. We loved watching the sunset on the private patio and the owners were great. Can’t wait to go to Santa Fe next year.
Beautiful and spacious casita. Loved the fireplace. Kitchen was well stocked with coffee and cookware. Bed was super comfy. Location was great as it was close to many conveniences but quiet. Host provided lots of helpful information prior to arrival. Would definitely recommend.
Great location! The casita is even nicer than we anticipated. Hosts communication was stellar. Lots of thoughtful touches (e.g., bedside phone chargers).
Chris and Marie are wonderful hosts! We had such a wonderful stay in Santa Fe! The home is so welcoming, we could move in permanently! The home is so comfortable and clean! The bed is soft and I had my best sleep while we were there. If you are cooking in, you have anything you might want in the kitchen. There’s even a dishwasher! There is a bonus office space for an additional guest and can also be used for an office. The patio is perfect for enjoying the sunny weather. The home is situated just 5-15 minutes from everything you want! Downtown Santa Fe is also walking friendly. There are shops and restaurants galore to go to.Santa Fe is beautiful and so sunny. Back home it was warm but rainy. So happy we were here!We will definitely be back and plan to stay with Chris and Marie again.
We had a fabulous week in Santa Fe! The casita was perfect for a relaxing week. We loved the outdoor eating area & the sunsets were amazing. Thank you for a beautiful place to stay!
This is our second time staying at this little casita. I can’t say enough about how great it was to have a place like this to stay in Santa Fe. It’s a five minute drive to the plaza so location is great. It was November when we were there so we fired up the kiva fireplace after coming back to the casita after a long day of adventures. It was clean, cozy, and had everything that we needed.
Enjoyed another wonderful and renewing time in the Hilltop Casita. This was the latest of multiple stays over the last few years. Have posted three previous reviews so I won't repeat the superlatives from those, since all those superlatives continue to be true of our latest visit. Please take a minute to read them. The tranquil setting with easy access to Santa Fe without having to drive along busy Cerrillos Road make the casita the best spot to stay in Santa Fe. Access to Route 285 is a snap leading to points north such as Bandelier, Los Alamos, Espanola, and several wineries worth a visit. The casita is meticulously clean, including the refrigerator (a big plus for us). Perhaps the best description of Chris and Marie's casita is that it is as comfortable as those old jeans that have been washed countless times and are wonderfully broken in and soft.Chris and Marie are fabulous hosts. They ensure that your stay is a restful and renewing escape to the New Mexico high desert. The best compliment we can give Chris, Marie, and their lovely Hilltop Casita is that we are counting the days until October when we will return once again to enjoy their hospitality!
The casita was so comfortable. The hosts were great and so responsive and communicative. They also had some great tips on what to do and where to eat for guests new to the area. It was a perfect location: close to all the services, and downtown, but far enough out to have a country feel. The sunset views were great. We would definitely stay there again.
The Casita was great! Very convenient location to everything, five minutes to the Plaza. It was our 2nd time to stay here and plan to book it again. Hosts are very attentive.
Cielito Lindo was perfect for us. We very much enjoyed the location, very peaceful, and easy access to town. Our hosts Chris and Marie provided clear concise Instructions for access and suggestions for things todo. When we return to Santa Fe we will stay here again.
This is our favorite VRBO. The hosts are exceptional. They allow you your privacy but are always there if anything needs doing and they have amazing suggestions for things to do while in northern New Mexico. We've stayed on multiple occasions and have noticed that they keep the property in top notch condition and often add little touches to make our stay completely satisfying.
Nice Casita close to all of Santa Fe. Sharing property with owners - but never saw/heard anything! Loved the quiet neighborhood! Easy access to downtown Santa Fe.
Chris and Marie were awesome and we loved the Casita. It was perfect! If you want any recommendations for things to do, just ask. Convenient location, very clean and excellent views for sunsets!!
Private hilltop retreat in touch with the great flora, fauna and environment of the Santa Fe foothills yet a short driving distance from the heart of the city. Fully furnished and equipped for an excellent six night stay.

About the host
Hosted by Chris Howson
The owners live in a separate house on the property and we are available to answer any questions you may have about Santa Fe, the surrounding areas, or your lodging. In addition, as an epidemiologist and nurse we ensure a deep cleaning and disinfection of the casita, its linens, kitchen items and other contents before and after every rental.
Why they chose this property
We bought this property because we love the variety that Santa Fe has to offer. The arts scene is incredibly vibrant--art and photo galleries galore, plays, bars and night clubs with music into the early morning hours and, of course, the world famous open air Santa Fe Opera is only a 12-minute drive from our property. We also love the outdoors and have the alpine meadows and ski basin of the Santa Fe Wilderness to hike in 6 miles to the east and the mysterious, red rock canyons and Ghost Ranch of the vast Piedra Lumbre basin to the northwest. Wildlife abounds around our property--eagles, ravens, coyotes, bobcats and bears live in the surrounding hills and don't be surprised by the occasional roadrunner running across the road in front of you. Plus, we are both skiers and love that we can drive out the property and 35 minutes later be buckling on our ski boots at 10,600 ft.
What makes this property unique
Santa Fe is far south in the US but our house and casita are at 7,200 ft. in altitude, so the winters are warm with bright sun and the summers cool and dry. With 323 days of sun a year, northern New Mexico is an ideal vacation spot.
