Mill Valley Mountain Retreat and Hiker's Paradise!
The unit is on the bottom floor of a home, but it is fully private and there is no access to the unit from the inside of the home. The unit is setup like a studio with the queen bed in the main living space and directly next to the bathroom. Also in the main living space is a full kitchen and dining area. The kitchen has all the amenities you could want including dishwasher, disposal, coffee maker, toaster, stove, oven, and microwave. It also has a large walk-in pantry where the washer and dryer are located.
In a separate room, there is a cozy den with a TV and large closet for hanging and folding clothes. This is where the pull-out couch is located. This means that if you have 3-4 people, you’ll have completely separate and private spaces.
The unit is accessed through 2 sets of sliding glass doors bringing in lots of light. The key to the door is located in a lockbox on the private deck. The deck is 700 square feet and it’s all yours.
We promise you’ll love the space and the view and you may not want to leave!

Everything about our stay here was fantastic. It's close to everything we wanted to do on our CA vacation - wineries, hiking, surfing, and just 15-20 minutes from San Francisco. Alex and Shane were friendly and welcoming, offering tons of information and recommendations for things to do and places to eat.
And that view! The pictures don't do it justice. We'll definitely be back - both to Mill Valley and to this lovely mountain retreat.

Thank you for the lovely review! We’re so glad you enjoyed yourselves and we certainly hope to see you back again!
One of our favorite home stays. The apt feels like a magical treehouse in the woods with all the amenities. The location is isolated (incredible views of the mountains) but still near everything. A easy ride to San Fran. The apt has a great setup, especially with the closed off den where our baby slept. And the hosts were communicative and attentive, even leaving us a bunch of key things for our 1 year old (crib, bath, books!). We would def stay here again next time we’re back in California.
This is your ideal place to stay when vacationing or travelling for work. It's peaceful, exceptionally well maintained and Alex is a great host. Hope to return soon!
We really enjoyed this property. It is much bigger than it looks in the photos, with a private entrance and a big balcony overlooking the forest. Alex is a wonderful host, who is very responsive and accommodating. We loved every minute of our stay!

Wonderful place at the woood, perfect spot for San Francisco
Great place in Mill Valley. 30 minutes driving from San Francisco. Beautiful place, perfect for a couple with 2 kids. The views are incredible, The house was very well care and clean with a lot of details.
Family of four stayed comfortably. The unit was clean, comfortable, and had a great view of Mt. Tamalpais. Muir Woods was a 30 minute hike away. Stinson Beach was a 25 minute drive, and most places we visited in San Francisco were a 30-40 minute drive. Parking was not an issue and the hillside neighborhood was nice and quiet. Our hosts went out of their way to accommodate and make recommendations, which we appreciated since we really didn’t have a plan other than going to games at the two MLB stadiums. Overall we were very pleased and would recommend.
My partner and I just stayed here for four nights. The view of Mt Tam and the valley is spectacular and the surrounding forest is very peaceful. The apartment is clean and private. Alex was nice enough to offer me parking for my rental car, which was great. We weren’t sure what to expect from Mill Valley, but it is a very nice little town with everything you need. Downtown SF is only 20min away, wine country (Russian River, Sonoma) is about an hour north. I would definitely recommend doing some hiking in the area and also checking out the coast and Point Reyes if you have time— just as beautiful as Big Sur. All in all it was a really great home-base for exploring the Bay Area and Marin county.

Thank you for the kind review Scott! Come back any time.
We loved this apartment. Proximity to SF was easy and Mill Valley is a great neighborhood. Lots of trails and outdoorsy activities. Would love to stay again.
This place. So awesome for home base when visiting the Bay area. We did not rent a car but used Lyft and Uber for transport. We had no problems getting rides from here. The rental is very clean and Alex had some coffee to get us started. Perfect size for us, 2 adults and 1 teen. While here, be sure to visit Sauscilito and Tiburon as they have much to offer for small seaside towns. Thanks Alex!
This unit is located in a beautiful place. It’s cozy and super clean. Beds are comfortable and it’s quiet. Property owners are always available to answer questions and provide suggestions if needed. We would definitely come back!

About the host
Hosted by Alexandra Gilroy
We are a couple in our 30s who love living in Mill Valley and we're excited to share our sanctuary with you. We are both east coast transplants who were sure we wouldn't turn into California lifers, but here we are 10+ years later! We love where we live and are happy to share our little oasis in the redwoods on top of the mountain.
Why they chose this property
We chose to buy in Mill Valley because of all the charm that the town has to offer, the sense of community here, the proximity to both the city and wine country, and we simply couldn't pass up the view at this house! The access to hiking right out our front door is quite simply amazing and I bet there's no where else where you can live on top of a mountain yet be in the center of downtown within a 20 minute walk.
What makes this property unique
We are big golfers and felt the need for our own little putting green, so we put one in our front yard!
