This spectacular estate known as Shadow Lawn is now available as a seasonal summer vacation rental. It is located on Beach Road, just north of Sister Bay, WI on 165 feet of gently sloping shore overlooking the beautiful waters and spectacular sunsets of Green Bay. The peace and tranquility that the 3+ acre setting provides along with the spacious accommodations are unparalleled in a Door County vacation rental yet you are moments away from all of the attractions that has made Door County the premier vacation destination in the Midwest.

This stately manor was originally built in 1928 by a successful Chicago attorney who used the property to delight and entertain his guests which included famous people such as Sonia Henning. Shadow Lawn has been carefully maintained and tastefully updated over the years while retaining all of it’s original character. It is an ideal venue for a family reunion, hobby group or corporate retreat providing spacious accommodations including a large sun-porch, living room, and massive fieldstone fireplace in addition to its 6 bedrooms and 5 1/2 baths. Also included is a large bunk area/game room perfect for the kids! A terrace area near the water provides the ideal venue for watching the famous Door County sun setting over the water as well as direct access to the beach.

Spacious, with an outstanding view

The property was in great shape, with an excellent view of the water and the sunset. Walking distance from a great local farm and a few restaurants, with all of Sister Bay only 5 minutes down the road. The location was unbeatable. While the building was great, the furnishings and decor were more suited for a large gathering than for comfortable lounging, so it's not ideal if you plan to spend a good deal of time "at home." Despite the size, we spent almost all our time on the porch, in the kitchen, or by the water. The great room, while visually impressive, was mostly just a large space to walk through; a comfortable couch or a stately dining table facing the window would have been a massive improvement.

Our stay…

We were celebrating our fathers 80th birthday. We had big group. This house accommodates big groups nicely. Lots room. Fabulous kitchen, well equipped. We loved the porch:) our problem with house was, was not real clean. Under one bed, was sucker that looked like it was eaten some, dirt/dust was horrible under all beds. Another bedroom had empty bottle water left under the bed. You walked in the house and there was heavy musty smell. Mattresses for most part all were on the cheap side so made for very uncomfortable sleep. Cobwebs in corners of rooms in the house. Great location. Good waterfront property but just needs some Tender loving care!!!

Beautiful house- fabulous kitchen- best location in Sister Bay

We loved the house and the location. The rocks on the beach are hard on the feet so be sure to take swim shoes.
