"Great Are The Simple Things In Life" No Doubt you will experience this in our Brand New Cabin. You'll find that "Rooks Nook" features many personal touches, from the high-end antique distressed cabinets and furniture. "Rooks Nook" is a spacious 1500 sq. ft. log cabin, where the exposed beams and rustic wavy board siding were cut from pine trees cleared from the lot. The wrap around porch is inviting, with two wooden log swings and rocking chairs, with a black distressed finish. Also features a hot tub deck.
Two Bedroom Master upstairs with King Bed, Bathroom upstairs with tile shower, and Heart Shaped Jacuzzi tub. Pool table on Balcony.
Bedroom down stairs has a queen Bed, Bathroom across the hall downstairs with 5' tub shower. Sleeper sofa in Living room.

Located just minutes from Desoto State Park, Desoto Falls, Cloudmont Ski & Golf Resort, and Mentone, where you can enjoy shopping in many of the antique shops, also offering a variety of foods.

Weekend getaway

We had an amazing time! The Rooks Nook cabin is setup for total convenience, from the beautiful kitchen to the relaxing hot tub! We enjoyed our peaceful mornings on the porch watching the wildlife. The Wildflower Cafe is a must if you stay here, try the tomato pie, it’s delicious! Cynthia and Kevin, are awesome host! They truly go above and beyond for their guest! We would definitely recommend staying here! We look forward to coming back soon.

Best Vacation EVER!

Rook's Nook was absolutely perfect for my family of four, two teenagers. The master bed was SO comfortable. The hot tub was wonderful to relax in every night! Thanks for sharing your beautiful place with us!

Perfect weekend getaway

This was the perfect place for our family of five to get awake for the weekend. The cabin was immaculate when we got there and everything we needed was supplied. The kids had a blast roasting marshmallows over the fire pit and the hot tub was well lit for night time dips with the whole family.

Moms getaway

3 of us moms left the kids and husbands at home and had a little mountain getaway at Rook’s Nook and had a GREAT time! The cabin was spotless and cozy and easy to navigate to. It was super easy to hop down into town or over to Fort Payne too. We loved hanging out in the nice clean hot tub and relaxing around the house! I’d recommend Rook’s Nook to anyone looking for an easy mountain weekend!

Precious Place to Stay!!!

We booked this wonderful cabin on our yearly girls trip and we were so impressed with how personal and warm this cabin was! We had everything we needed and then some! The porch sitting was amazing!! I just cannot say enough good things about this place!! Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to get away!!!

Wonderful relaxation

We had a fantastic stay! We had a really hard summer and my husband told me to pick somewhere we could get away for the weekend. Boy am I glad I picked this spot! We spent time in the hot tub, sitting on the front porch watching wildlife, and just enjoying the beautiful setting. I highly recommend staying here!

Favorite cabin in Mentone

This will be our 8th time staying in the Rook's Nook. It holds a special place in our hearts. We absolutely love the convenience of the location and gorgeous views. It has all the comforts of home and all the special quirks of a cabin. This is the only cabin in the area that we want to stay in, It truly has it all

Peaceful and Relaxing

We loved our stay!! Beautiful cabin with a home like feel. We loved the hot tub outside and the heart shape tub it was perfect for our couples trip. The pool table also was cool it added more fun to our stay. The only thing I can say is the pictures online did no justice I recommend they get a better photographer because this cabin was more beautiful in person. The only other thing that was not great was the WiFi was super slow and lagging. We couldn’t watch movies or nothing so we played music our whole weekend but it was still perfect. We will definitely book again!!!!! Lovely experience please book your stay you won’t regret it!! Thank you owners!!

We like staying here it is our 4 th time. We do not like direct TV at all afggervating.

Tha cabin is always nice we went during the week and not a lot to do, most things were closed Mentone Mkt.kitchen was close due to redoing kitchen floor. It was very cold so we didn't get out and do the walking we usually do

Girls Trip 2023

Rooks Nook was the best cabin I have ever stayed. It was fully furnished plus more. The property was overall beautiful. We sat on the porch every morning to drink coffee and take in the beautiful sights and sounds of the property. We saw so much beautiful wildlife.we relaxed in the hot tub after busy days sightseeing, antiquing, and June Jam 2023. The beds were extremely comfortable and cozy. I was very sad to have leave such a beautiful and cozy place.

1st family Christmas trip

It was a very nice place and clean. The master bed up stairs needs a new mattress, it has a sunken spot in it and the foam on top just makes it harder to get out off. The pool table needs a need mat and the table needs leveling up, had to readjust a few time using folder newpapers to level table. There were no scissors and the sharp knives were not sharp. But over all it was a nice clean stay. We didn't get to explore due to it raining most of the weekend. But we made do.

Hello: We are Kevin & Cynthia Rooks. Kevin grew up in this area, Lived in Tennessee for 15 yrs then returned to this area. Cynthia was born in upstate New York, the family moved to West Alabama when she was 9 yrs old because her mother hated the cold. We meet in 1989 and were married in 1990. We,ve been self employed all those years, and have been able to work together,in the Custom Cabinet industry, we enjoy being able assist our customers in design and color selection of their custom cabinets.

Why they chose this property

We chose to build in Mentone, because for one, we LOVE the Mountains and always vacationed in the mountains, in East Tennessee or out West. Mentone is very beautiful all seasons and has so much to offer, for that that quite get-away, so I coined the phrase "GREAT ARE THE SIMPLE THINGS IN LIFE". And I really beleive that the simple things in life are the most enjoyable. I,ve always wanted to build my own cabin since I've been in the construction industry, this helped me to design and built the cabin, and with Cynthia's input on the color skeam it was a very enjoyable project, in which we put many personal touches for your enjoyment.

What makes this property unique

There are many things we enjoy about our cabin Rooks Nook most in the decor. Take notice of the Exposed Beams which were Sawn from Pine Trees cut off the lot itself, these were sawn by a local Saw Man which brought his Portable Saw mill onto the lot and sawed the Beams on site. The Log walls came from North Carolina (not a kit) Each room has a Beadboard plank wainscoat which has a painted distressed finish, the Balcony Railings are Black Rubbed Distressed finish, the Kitchen is a Pine Cabinet with a Green distressed finish, and Red Knobs. All the furniture pieces were custom designed & built by our shop. There is a Pool table on the Balcony, Tile shower & Heart Shaped Jacuzzi in the Master Bath. Hot Tub & Rockers & Swings on the wrap around porch, Just relax and enjoy your self. We hope you get as much enjoyment from your stay as we do. And remember "GREAT ARE THE SIMPLE THINGS IN LIFE"
