About the host
Hosted by Joan Gordon

Being a host gives me the opportunity to meet guests who are in town for a family event or vacationing in Washington. Guests may visit during the April Tulip Festival, or use the apartment as their base while they explore the north (Bellingham, WA and Vancouver, B.C.), the east (North Cascades), the west (San Juan Islands), or the south (Everett and Seattle, WA).
Why they chose this property
The neighborhood has mature trees and it looks like a forest on aerial maps. I named the house Five Cedars Retreat due to the five sheltering cedar trees at the front of the property. The house sits on a hill, east of I-5 highway, and it is a short drive to downtown Mount Vernon. The tulip farms are on the west side of I-5 highway.
What makes this property unique
Five Cedars Retreat is in a Mount Vernon house that was built in 1950. The second owners raised their family of three children in this house, and they owned the house from1952-2005. This family planted many of the plants around the house.
During 2020, one of the grown children of this family booked a stay at Five Cedars Retreat. It was such a treat to ask her about her memories of the house!
