The house is wonderful, spaceous and well equipped. it has a seperate "house/gameroom". Our two girls (14 years old) had the time of their life. They could do whatever they wanted without being watched by parents….. And we equally enjoyed the peace!

A lovely rustic character cottage in a great location
We stayed, a family of five for a week, over Christmas. The house and location were absolutely lovely! We particularly liked the big open plan living area, fireplace (added bonus that it has a glass door so no smoke, plus lots of wood!), and the lovely large dining table. The games room of course is a fantastic bonus. The location is ideal - so quiet in the gorgeous countryside with some nice walking, and a few minutes drive from Cormeilles with the little shops and the great supermarket. We were also able to easily drive to Honfleur, and also Rouen (I love the Christmas market there), and Lisieux.
What I would say, the house worked ok for us as three siblings all slept upstairs but you do have to walk through the double bedroom to get to the bathroom (there is also a double bedroom downstairs).
Downstairs there is a toilet and also a shower/bath so this is good if you aren't able to do stairs.
The kitchen was a bit small, although just about manageable for a Christmas dinner!
I was a bit put out that we weren't told until the day before that linen and towels is extra per person, I think it would have been better to know this up front. Also, Valerie met us at the property, she is very nice but speaks no English so if you don't speak any French then I'd advise communicating through Alan as much as you can.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, and although a few things could have been better the fireplace and the location made up for it!

Dear Caroline, I am pleased that you spent a great holiday. Indeed the location is great for enjoying nature, or organising visits to the many attractions in the surroundings.
Sorry about Valerie's language skills, but i am always there to help with translation if needed. The info about the linen is in the ad though.
Best,
Alan

Cute house with lots of character.
The location is beautiful. The town 5 KM away is from a fairtytale. it has great restaurants and a wonderful farmer's market on Friday. Such a magical stay in Normandy. Hope I get a chance to go back someday. My son liked the bathtub.
The house also has a fun game room for the kids with ping pong and pin ball machine.

Comfortable cottage in the Pays D'Auge
We thoroughly enjoyed our week staying in Alan's pretty cottage. It just suited us with a downstairs bedroom and nearby bathroom for my 94 year old mother and nice warm fire in the cool evenings. We also made good use of the games room - hadn't played table tennis for years! It is in a lovely area and we went for several walks along local paths and small roads. Chateau le Blangy, the nearest village, is very pretty and the market in Cormeilles was good. We had good days out in Arromanche, ( the D day landings museum is excellent) and Honfleur and Trouville. Visits to Chateau Crevecouer en Auge, Chateau Canon and the Jardins de Pays d'Auge were the highlights of the week. We loved the Pays d'Auge with all the buttercups, cows, orchards and timbered houses.
Alan was very helpful all through, answering our questions before we booked, giving us good directions to the house and when we arrived with a puncture, he gave us the names of all the places nearby we could go to to get it mended.
We have no hesitation in recommending this house as a quiet rural base for exploring Normandy.

I am very pleased that you had a good time in my house. It really has everything you need for a good holiday, whatever the weather condition. When the weather is nice, there are so many sights to see, and outdoor activities to do. If it rains, the fireplace can keep you warm, and the game room allows you to have fun and forget about the weather...
