WATERFRONT- Eagle's Wings Over Pickering Passage

WELCOME! Come in and relax by the fire with tea/coffee/wine or cozy up next to family for a movie on the flat screen tv. Take a walk out onto the wrap-around balcony and take in the views of Pickering Passage & watch the Orcas come by too! It is easy to watch the kids play down just below in the garden under the arched trellis or gather the entire family and enjoy a BBQ on the ground floor.

You could also go down to shore and enjoy the marine life right at your fingertips or look up to see herons, gulls, murrelets, and of course, eagles gliding by. If you're a nature enthusiast, you might want to kayak out onto the Hood Canal or take the kids beach combing for hours.

Whatever you do decide to do, you'll be happy to know that once you're tired and hungry, a beautiful craftsman kitchen awaits with comfortable well thought out seating for everyone to enjoy a gourmet meal.

As the sun sets, don't forget to grab some s'mores by the fire just below the deck. And perhaps if a brisk evening breeze comes by, the family can come inside for movie night next to the kids' fort in the recreation room on the ground floor.
After a full day of fun, retire yourself to either the master bedroom, kids' room, guest room, or loft where your body will sink into comfortable beds ready for restful sleep.

⦁ Please do not leave children unattended on the balcony, loft, stairs, and outside walkways & fire pits. They are not child proof, present fall risks, and can be slippery with rain or be a fire/water hazard. Use precaution with the elderly as well. USE AT YOUR OWN DISRCRETION AND RESPONSIBILITY.
⦁ If you choose to use fire pits, please EXTINGUISH ALL FIRES before going back inside.
⦁ YOU ARE WELCOME TO USE any toys at your own discretion and responsibility. Children should always be supervised when using them. Please put them back after use. Water toys come with a fee.
⦁ FOR SAFETY, please no rough play. Guests will be liable for all injuries &/or damages that result from unsafe behavior.
⦁ Please WASH/DUST OFF SAND before entering the house. Please don't wash sand into the sinks/bathtubs. Next to the entrance outside is a hose you can wash off sand there before going inside.
⦁ Rental agreement required. The wood stove is not available to guest use due to fire hazard not being covered by insurance.

We had an excellent stay on this property. The atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for. We walked down to the water daily when lower tide. We got to see deer daily as well eating from the trees and bushes. We had everything we needed inside as well including baby gates, a pack and play, and a highchair for my 2 1/2 year old. She loved the playroom most of all. we used the grill out back and loved our time on the deck. We highly recommend!

The location was beautiful! The place was nice and clean. We arrived in the dark so it was hard finding the location because you feel like you are pulling into someone’s driveway when it is actually a road heading back to the house. Communication was great!

Tree paradise

We had a great relaxing stay in this cabin surrounded by trees and water. The weather was perfect most of our stay!! Our son enjoyed exploring by the water in low tide!! The view was beautiful! We recommend going to the Chihuly Glass Garden and hiking the staircase trail on lake Cushman.. Great communication with host and cabin had everything we needed.

Great birthday stay!

My husband and 2 pups stayed for a few nights to celebrate my birthday. The property was perfect! The kitchen was well stocked, bed and furniture comfortable, view beautiful, and location perfect for us who were looking to get away from everything. The private beach was cool, and the path leading down was well maintained (take note that it is steep). We didn't take advantage of the kayak rentals, but maybe next time. Wonderful time on the Puget Sound

My family stayed at the Eagle's Wings for three nights in mid-December while visiting family in Olympia and touring the area to show the kids Seattle, Tacoma, and Olympia. We had a great time. The house was spacious and so quiet! The house very private. The weather was typical NW (rainy and pea-soup foggy), but we still had some great views of the water, and wildlife (eagles, herons, cormorants, etc). The hosts were great. We would definitely come back!

Overall positive experience - property description was accurate, but a few extra perks would’ve increased my rating. The house and beds were quite comfortable. Fire pit provided nice family gathering. Items which would’ve been nice to have include bath supplies (showers had shampoo, but no conditioner or body wash), wifi was spotty, there was a play room with little kids toys, but no board games for older kids/adults. Hammock in description no longer on property. The stairs going down to shoreline were a bit hazardous and this made carrying kayaks to/from water a chore even for those in good athletic condition. Location was quiet and scenic, but rather far from larger sites within Olympic Nat’l Park. The staircase at Lake Cushman did provide a nice smaller hike suitable for all ages.

Beautiful Location

We rented the house for a long overdue family reunion. The house worked perfectly to accommodate our group which consisted of 6 adults and 6 children ranging in ages from 11-16. There was plenty of room for everyone to have a private space and the provided air mattresses were great to let the kids spread out the sleeping areas. The view from the main floor was beautiful and the kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots and pans, and serving ware that worked well for large group cooking. We also appreciated there was plenty of paper towels, garbage bags, cleaning supplies, and laundry detergent that is often lacking in vacation rentals. The deck was wonderful with the nice weather for sitting outside and enjoying the surroundings. Tuyen was great with communication and quickly answered any questions we had. There are also lots of areas to explore within a short drive from the house. We loved our stay and hope to be able to all gather there again sometime.

Pro’s: quiet area close to the water not directly on the water, huge outside patio,Comfortable beds, open kitchen and living room. Good stock of paper towels, toilet paper, dishsoap , towels, trash bags heat and acCon’s: accessing the property with an entrance gate that is owned by another property owner was a huge hassle and apparently a problem with all renters and the host. Cameras on the back patio is akward and came on everytime the back door is opened, back doors going out to patio constantly struggling with opening them, chandelier knob broken and in an akward place to find, carpet stains on the sofa and the carpet down stairs, screen on back porch torn and coming off, obstructed view of water due to overgrowth of trees and vegetation, fire pit can’t use due to burn ban, decor is hodge podge mix of Asian and African animals with wood cabin and beach decor, no hockey puck for the air hockey table, steep dangerous areas going down to water with washout of dirt and exposed re bar which is very hazardous and dangerous, you have to carry the kayaks down to the water and then return and wash them after use, haul them back up to the landing every day due to the tides. Lots of warning signs everywhere with risk to the renters including kids using the bunk beds Dull knives, expired spices and condiments, 2 glasses only in home,lots of coffee cups had to buy glasses to use, worn pots and pans, dirty baking sheet, no casserole dishes, no body wash.

Secluded Getaway Near the Water and Trees.

I was very impressed with this property after a short stay with my wife and two young kids. The property itself is tucked away among the trees in a secluded area. There is a large gate to ensure your privacy and the neighbors are far enough away to not even know that they are there. Towering cedars in the backyard frame a view of the water that can be reached at the end of a short path. Depending on the time of year, a variety of blossoms can be enjoyed in the gardens that line the path to the water. I really enjoyed taking lots of photos in the gardens and at the water. During high tide, the water comes right up to the stairs at the end of the path while low tide provides ample opportunity to walk a pebble beach and explore the marine habitat. A hammock tied between two trees is a great place to just relax and think about nothing at all while enjoying the views. The main floor has a deck balcony with a large table that was great for cooking out and hanging out with friends. Even though the property is off the beaten path, it was only about 20 mins from a 24 hour Walmart which was very handy when my son woke up at 3am feeling sick. The house itself is an incredibly nice log cabin that maintains a natural wood aesthetic throughout without neglecting any modern amenities. The first floor main area opens up to the second floor with two massive natural finished wood poles supporting the loft. A well equipped kitchen tucked to the side complements the sun window and breakfast nook to provide a warm looking environment. There was more than ample sleeping space with several bedrooms on the first floor and basement along with a Murphy bed downstairs (folds up into wall) and a sleeper couch in the loft (along with another bathroom in the loft). My kids definitely made good use of the toy room and play area downstairs. A first floor laundry ensured we had enough clean clothes for our entire trip. Even though we were far from home, we felt like we had never left when staying here.

Family trip sept 11-18 2021

My family and I agreed that Eagles Flying was the most beautiful and unique home we've ever stayed at. The rustic look set in a wooded setting overlooking the water is breathtaking! You truly feel one with nature! The location was perfect for our plans to see the Olympic national forest, Mt. Rainer, and with the wonderful advice from Tuyen we were able to take a ferry to see the San Juan Island and see orcas! And the welcome basket was perfect for our trips. Such a nice touch ! I wish we could've stayed longer! It's the perfect place to get away from this crazy world and have peace in your soul! Thankyou again Tuyen and Tom for the awesome memory!! Clean property in a quiet space. Had all the amenities needed. Lots of beds and blankets. Overall the space worked very well for a home base for our week. The layout is odd and lacks seating on the main floor (only a couch and kitchen table). Overall we enjoyed our stay very much.

Last Summer Getaway

We spent the last weekend before school started at Eagle's Wings on the South Sound. It was a great location for relaxing on the deck and drinking a cup of coffee and wine while watching the water. Kayaking on the sound early in the morning was a delight! The water was extremely calm, and we saw deer on the shore, an otter eating fish and a seal in the water. Very peaceful and fun! We also brought our fishing boat and our kids had a great time catching dog fish! Nice place to relax and get out of the city!

Beautiful and cozy house for our big group

We had a lovely time in this beautiful house. We were welcome by such fun and thoughtful gifts (Thank you!). The children had plenty of space to play. They set up "Kid happy hour" area in the basement every night with all the toys provided by the hosts. That allowed grownups to have our own time relaxing and chatting. We fished offshore and from the kayaks (provided). The house is very well stocked, clean and cozy. Thank you for a great stay!

Peaceful private getaway

We enjoyed our social distancing getaway - it was very private and peaceful. Had a hike to get to/from the water and a great peaceful cove for kayaking. We enjoyed going down to the water both at low and high tide to see the differences. We appreciated the air conditioning when it was 90 degrees out and enjoyed the views from inside and from the deck throughout the day. My daughter really enjoyed the air hockey game and was happy to see Jupiter and Saturn from the deck on our last night.

We adore coming to our beach and having the kids run around discovering nature's wonders! We enjoy knowing we can share this with our guests and that many have made beautiful memories on our shores =)

Why they chose this property

The feeling my family had walking into this house was "wow!". I see us retiring here when we get older and creating years of memories here with our growing children. The house was beautiful in itself but best of all it was nestled over a private and well maintained lot of land that makes me feel safe and at home. I know the children can stretch out and roam and I could sit back and watch them easily. We are from Renton WA and the busy city life does not allow a couple of working parents to sit back and breath often enough. Being here relaxes us and we can enjoy the children, appreciate them in the moment, and teach them to enjoy nature as well.
We also can't wait for our parents to see the place either. They haven't yet, as I am writing. We can't wait for our parents' eyes to light up like ours did and for them to enjoy vacation here with us and their grandkids.
We won't be able to be here full time just yet, so why not share it with guests as well so that this beautiful home with its view and access to the Hood Canal can be enjoyed by many.
