About this property
Amazing ocean views of Frenchman Bay, minutes from Acadia and Bar Harbor.
Baycliff's home entertainment system is nature.
Watch nature unfold in all its splendor from the comfort of the dining room table or couch. The large windows and skylights let you witness the changing character of Frenchman Bay. Watch amazing sunrises and sunsets, clouds racing across the sky, the moodiness of an overcast day or the approach of a storm. It's a never-ending story of change.
The beach also changes its character to the ebb and flow of the tide. There are boulders that are exposed during low tide along with the seaweed.
The spacious balcony provides a front-row seat to watch lobster boats in the bay, along with cormorants and seagulls commuting to and from the ocean. You might also spot loons and other fascinating seabirds, with the occasional bald eagle soaring overhead. Each morning brings an awe-inspiring sunrise, showcasing a different display of nature's wonders.
The cottage at Baycliff is fully furnished and features a beautiful fully equipped kitchen with stunning views. It includes two full baths, a half bath, and is equipped with a high tier internet, WiFi, and cable channels. You’ll also have the convenience of a washer and dryer. The walk-out basement is perfect for work or play, offering gaming tables, monitors, and office chairs.
There are two upstairs bedrooms and a main-level bedroom, all furnished with queen-sized beds, plus a finished basement featuring a bunk bed. The master bedroom window overlooks Frenchman Bay, allowing you to wake up to glorious sunrises every morning.
The property is shared with two cabins - one if 50 yards further up the hill the other is a further 100 yards beyond that.

About the host
Hosted by Kevin Nealon

My parents started vacationing at Baycliff over 50 years ago. Back then, we’d drive up from New Jersey and spend two weeks here. I have fond memories of deep-sea fishing, hiking, sightseeing, and other touristy activities, but my favorite was skipping rocks into the sea—quite a challenge with waves, wind, and seaweed!
In 1973, the property went up for sale, and my dad immediately bought it. We began staying for a month at a time in the cottage, which wasn’t much larger than the cabins back then. One year, we brought all seven of our cats and a raccoon I was fostering! For over 40 years now, we’ve been renting out the two cabins. The picture above is of me, my two daughters, and my mom. Until 2019, during the summer months, mom would stay at Baycliff and take care of the cabins and guests.
Mount Desert Island offers so many attractions. The carriage roads are perfect for cycling, the hiking trails are spectacular, and if you're into birding, we have segulls, loons, hummingbirds and warblers - and on occasion an osprey or bald eagle! Bar Harbor and the surrounding areas also boast some excellent restaurants. This truly is a special place.

Why they chose this property
Baycliff is about viewing nature from the comfort of a beautiful home. A wall of windows across the front of the house gives you a front row seat to nature unfolding in all its splendor. The large windows and skylights let you witness the changing character of Frenchman Bay. Watch amazing sunrises and sunsets, on a sunny day, the clouds racing across the sky, on an moody overcast day, the approach of a storm. It's a never-ending story of change.
The beach also changes its character with the ebb and flow of the tide. There are boulders that are exposed during low tide along with the seaweed giving the beach a feeling of an ocean based meditation garden.
There is a balcony on the house along with a deck on the actual cliff with a picnic bench.
Acadia National Park Headquarters are only 2.5 miles away and Bar Harbor is only five miles.

What makes this property unique
We have one request - please feed the chipmunks! We have two or three of them that frequent the front door. We'll supply the sunflower seeds and if you supply a little patience they will eat them out of your hand.
