About this property
Cabin with ocean views, minutes from Acadia and Bar Harbor
Location: TheGuest House is located on the north coast of Mount Desert Island overlooking Frenchman Bay. The cabin is just 7 minutes (2.5 miles) from the Acadia National Park Visitor Center and 13 minutes (5 miles) from Bar Harbor. There are fun and safe bicycle routes to both the park and town.
This cabin enjoys beautiful views and is located about 50 yards from the shared cliffside deck used by all three Baycliff rentals: Baycliff Cottage, the Guest House, and The Pines. Set at the edge of the property, the deck offers sweeping views of the bay, nearby islands, and distant mountains. With built-in bench seating and a picnic table, it’s a wonderful place to enjoy morning coffee, relax with a glass of wine in the evening, or have a peaceful picnic lunch while taking in the scenery. Guests occasionally spot dolphins or seals in the bay, and sometimes even a bald eagle soaring overhead.
From the wall of windows across the front of the cabin, you look out through tall pines to Frenchman Bay below. The view includes the water, the neighboring shoreline and cottage, and the ever-changing activity on the bay. The trees frame the scene beautifully, giving you a sense of being tucked into the woods while still enjoying clear glimpses of the water beyond. In the evening, the light over the bay filters through the branches, creating a warm, peaceful atmosphere that makes the living room a perfect place to relax and take it all in.
A Note About the Cabin (Important): The Guest House is a rustic, uninsulated cabin. If it gets chilly outside, it will get chilly inside by morning. The wood stove provides excellent heat, and we also supply two space heaters and electric blankets to keep you comfortable.
The Cabin & Amenities: - A large living area with kitchen (stove/oven, refrigerator, sink) - Eating area and sitting area with a wood stove - Two bedrooms, sleeping up to five guests - Master bedroom: Queen bed - Second bedroom: Twin-over-queen bunk bed - WiFi and a TV for streaming from your devices - Large covered porch for relaxing - Charcoal grill - Parking next to the cabin

People come back for the tranquility, the natural beauty, and the simple joy of this special place. It’s an ideal spot for couples or families, and pets are welcome. As pet owners ourselves, we understand how important it is to bring them along.
Rental Details: - Rentals are Saturday to Saturday - The property also includes a second cabin about 100 yards uphill and a house about 50 yards downhill towards the water.
Beach Access Notice (Very Important): The stairs to the beach were destroyed by storms in 2023, and there is currently no direct beach access. The cliffs, views, decks, and overlooks remain fully accessible and just as beautiful.
The Guest House has a sister cabin on the property, The Pines (VRBO #887970) and the Baycliff Cottage (VRBO# 1678236).

Just as described in listing. Nice spot, close to town but far enough out to be private. Cabin is older but well maintained and cozy with a fire going in the wood stove. The cabin is a nice reminder of simpler times.
House was perfect! Exactly as described and had everything we needed. Close to the Park , extremely comfortable for both us and our adventurous dog. The addition of a wood burning stove was very welcome when the temperature dipped . All communications and check in were super easy - looking forward to returning next year... thanks for helping us have a terrific , well needed vacation

What a wonderful review! A stay in the cabin is a true "glaming" experience!
College roommates taking a fall long weekend break to do some hiking in the Acacia national Forest, cottage is close by everything, and quaint and comfortable
Extremely quiet location (aside from the falling acorns), with beautiful views & sunrises. Property is as described & owner very responsive. Check-in/out was a breeze. Really enjoyed our visit.
Cute cabin, very relaxing. Location is perfect! Steps to the water, conveniently located to Downtown Bar Harbor, and minutes to acadia entrances. I’ll definitely stay again.

Hi Greg - Thank you for the nice review. Short and sweet!
We loved this little cabin! It had everything we needed to be comfortable, and the location was great; it was close to everything we wanted to do but still far enough away to be quiet and peaceful in the evenings. The view from the dock was gorgeous! Our hosts were very accommodating and quick to respond to any questions/requests. We would definitely stay here again!
Great central location and convenient to the park as well as the “quiet side” of the island. Nothing fancy, but it was comfortable, a true “Maine” experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

We loved our stay at Baycliff’s guest cabin and look forward to returning next year. Perfect quiet and private location. Close to Acadia, which stole our hearts!
The cabin was everything I imagined and more! The location was excellent and in close proximity to Acadia hikes and the village center! The privacy and the surrounding areas near water were pretty and accessible and great for local walks! Highly recommend

Thank you for your review! So many guests turn the Guest House into their base of operations. Though you can have adventures right out the door!
The house is described accurately. It is tucked away in beautiful wooded area that overlooks the water. It is in a great location, close enough to be convenient to Bar Harbor and Acadia, but far enough out that you aren’t dealing with traffic or congestion. We took our dog with us and the trees surrounding the house was a lot of fun to play ball with him in.

We are definitely a pet friendly place. My mom would travel with her four cats from Virginia when she summered here.
Great View & quiet Location Close to Acadia and nearby towns. Basic Cabin. Small rooms but had what needed. Great View and quiet location to get away from crowds.
The Pines is exactly as listed and provides a very convenient location close to Acadia and Bar Harbor. We enjoyed morning coffee on the front porch looking at Frenchman’s Bay. Beds were comfortable and this rental is perfect for those looking for a clean, no frills cottage close to everything.

Thanks for the wonderful review! I think you pegged the appeal of our cabins.
The home was adorable and cozy, the owners were extremely helpful and it was just a few mins from everything we needed to do. We loved sitting by the wood stove and spending family time in the evening after night fishing and shell searching.

This is such a lovely description of a vacation in the cabins. The wood stoves are wonderful and make good heat too!
Kevin was a very welcoming host, very communicative and responsive. The cabin was most comfortable, especially with the wood burning stove to take the morning chill out of the air. Great access to Bar Harbor and Acadia. A very restful and enjoyable stay!

Our team likes communication! We may not always be able to fix the problem right away - but we won't leave you hanging!
We had a pleasant stay at the Guest House. The location was ideal for visiting Acadia and very close to down town Bar Harbor for shopping and dining options. Online photos were accurate. We saw deer several times in the woods surrounding the cabin!
Everything was wonderful. Kevin is a great host. Checked in on us when it got unreasonably hot here. No problems with anything.

Normally fans are not something you NEED this early in the season!
About the host

My parents started vacationing at Baycliff over 50 years ago. Back then, we’d drive up from New Jersey (Metuchen, Turnpike exit 10) and spend two weeks here. I have fond memories of deep-sea fishing, hiking, sightseeing, and other touristy activities, but my favorite was skipping rocks into the sea—quite a challenge with waves, wind, and seaweed! In 1973, the property went up for sale, and my dad immediately bought it. We began staying for a month at a time in the cottage, which wasn’t much larger than the cabins back then. One year, we brought all seven of our cats and a raccoon I was fostering! For over 40 years now, we’ve been renting out the two cabins. The picture above is of me, my two daughters, and my mom. Until 2019, during the summer months, mom would stay at Baycliff and take care of the cabins and guests. Mount Desert Island offers so many attractions. The carriage roads are perfect for cycling, the hiking trails are spectacular, and if you're into birding, we have segulls, loons, hummingbirds and warblers - and on occasion an osprey or bald eagle! Bar Harbor and the surrounding areas also boast some excellent restaurants. This truly is a special place.
Why they chose this property
Acadia National Park Headquarters is just 2.5 miles away, and Bar Harbor is only five miles from your doorstep. The cabin is situated in a quiet location, nestled among pine trees, providing a tranquil atmosphere that will help you destress. Whether it's the peaceful surroundings, the ocean breeze, the cool, clean air, the wind rustling through the trees, or the soothing sounds of nature, you'll find true relaxation here.
What makes this property unique
There is a communal deck with a picnic bench on the cliff, where you can witness the ever-changing character of Frenchman Bay. Enjoy breathtaking sunrises and sunsets; on sunny days, watch the clouds race across the sky, while on moody, overcast days, observe the approach of a storm. It's a captivating story of nature's transformations.
The beach also shifts with the ebb and flow of the tide, exposing boulders and seaweed at low tide, creating a tranquil, ocean-inspired meditation garden.
