Horrible guests ! All perfect … thanks you Vitor for this review. Each year we have one guests who let the house in a big mess! This year the gold palm is dedicate to Vitor which one of the highest level we ever saw, they the house in an amazing mess. The kitchen was really dirty, they moved furnitures from a room to an other one. The barbecue area was like they did a méchoui ! We had to karcher this place with high pressure water. They made such a big fest that the house was not recognizable and really dirty !!! Vitor told me before renting they will have party and promised me to give me the house back in good conditions. It was the contrary and I am a bit surprised that this person don t have any honor and no education about things that don’t belong to them. They let us 10 bags of 100 liters of trash and bottles in front of the house. We had to bring a pick up to remove all their bins.(and they only stayed 4 days !)I also had to call in emergency a second housekeeper to prepare and clean the house after them, because we were welcoming others guests end of the afternoon the day of their departure. I really don t advice Vitor as guests, you ll be very disappointed with this kinds of group who damage the pretty house you prepare with love for your guests. Please avoid accepting this persons who have no respect of your house. If anyone wants photos about the way they let our house, I ll be very pleased to share them. If Vitor have a small education he will propose me to pay the Second housekeeper I had to call in emergency, and the man I had to call to remove all their trash with a pick up and clean for hours the barbecue area!

Super nice and relaxed atmosphere

Our stay was great! The view, the pool and the large terrace were the highlights of the house for us. Apart from that, everything was exactly as we needed it. The communication was very smooth and pleasant. We would definitely come back again!

Exactly what we needed

Casa Semaphore is an amazing villa with plenty of space for a large group. The pool is a great size and by far the largest we could find in a villa for 10. If we ever return to Portugal this will be the first place we check.

Unpleasant nights because of noise

Several dogs in the surroundings join every night for an unpleasant choir that the noise of the road downhill cannot cover. Cleaning was below acceptable, especially in the kitchen that is beyond old and tired. House overall pleasant but architectural features totally prevent airflow when fresh outside, so be prepared to sleep in an oven. Lots of space for a large household but definitely not worth the price for Portugal standards.

Wonderful introduction to the Algave coast!

As this was our first visit to Portugal and the southern coast, we couldn't have asked for a better experience than our stay at Casa Semaphore! Our grandson (16) said his only requirements were a great view and nice pool. Well, we got that in spades. Privacy, views, lovely and luxurious, spotless home and pool, with glass doors all over that opened to terraces and gave you an outdoor feeling indoors. We were 3 generations with grandchildren 16,13 and 11 who each found their perfect nook in this spacious villa. Marie Diane, one of the owners.was instrumental in welcoming us before the visit with car rental,boat rental and perfect directions, along with any other information requested. Tim, the pool manager/caretaker gave us recommendations for excellent, inexpensive and memorable restaurants. Natalia came to the villa daily and inobtrusively tidied the bedrooms and cleaned the bathrooms.Having rented a number of times in Europe, we've never felt so cared for. Grandkids and grown ups loved the water park and swimming off the beach in a cave at the Benagil caves. There was much to do but we relished the peace and guiet of the area as we had just had a very busy week prior to our stay. Well located, near airport, beaches, restaurants and stores and yet away from the touristy, crowded areas. Can't say enough about Casa Semaphore and our wonderful visit.

Wir kamen im strömenden Regen in der Unterkunft an. Tim Empfang uns überaus freundlich mit einem wärmenden Feuer im Kamin. Das Haus ist sehr gepflegt und gut durchdacht. Es ist sehr sauber und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Leider war es während unseres Aufenthaltes sehr kalt und mit den Radiator in den Zimmern konnten nur bedingt eine angenehme Temperatur erreicht werden. Unserer Meinung nach ist das Haus eher für wärmere Perioden optimal, weniger im Winter.Der Blick in die Ferne ist sagenhaft. Einfach herrlich. Man hat die Autobahn und die Schnellstraße ein wenig, aber das empfindet jeder relativ. Insgesamt war es ein fantastischer Aufenthalt, und wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Die Zimmer waren sehr sauber. Alles mit rustikalem Charme. Gastgeberin und ihre Helfer sehr nett. Der Blick ist atemberaubend. Die nahe Straße ist tagsüber hörbar, hat uns als Städter aber nicht gestört. Die Dinge des täglichen Bedarfs sind in kürzester Nähe erreichbar. Der Pool war prima!

O alojamento é deveras munido de loiças, talheres e acessórios para o grelhador. Area pacata com supermercados a 2 min de distância. Piscina excelente e condições nos vários quartos e casas de banho sem nada a apontar. Deixa-se apenas uma nota para a questão da vedação do alojamento que deviria ser reforçado pois para quem tem cães acaba por promover preocupação, noutra perspectiva considerar a instalação de portões nas saídas da piscina, para garantir um perímetro seguro para vigilância de crianças e animais. Os gestores do alojamento foram excelentes.

A lovely property

A beautiful, spacious house with a beautiful view and on a practical note, very well equipped - kitchen, baby cot and high chair etc. Having a car is essential but we knew this before choosing the property - and there is a lot to see and do within a short drive. We had good communication with the owners before and during our stay - and great help from Tim to find the property (thanks also for accommodating our late check-in after our flight was delayed and we had problems picking up the hire car!)

Traumhafte Zeit in der Casa Sémaphore

Durch die Hanglage des Hauses gibt es sehr schöne mit Treppen verbundene Außenbereiche, die sowohl als Rückzugsort als auch für die Gemeinschaft sehr gut genutzt werden können. Der Blick ist sowohl tagsüber als auch zur Nacht atemberaubend schön. Man kann hier wunderbare Sonnenuntergänge erleben. Die Sonne erscheint bereits in den Morgenstunden auf den Außenanlagen und bleibt dann bis zum Untergang dort - ideal für die Nutzung des sehr schönen und großen Pools. Die Küche ist sehr gut ausgestattet, ein Außengrill ist vorhanden. Auch im Innenbereich gibt es sowohl gemütliche Rückzugsorte als auch schöne Gemeinschaftsräume mit Blick ins Tal und in der Ferne auf den Atlantik. Die Schlafzimmer sind großzügig, es gibt zwei Master-Bedrooms mit angeschlossenem Bad. Bei den übrigen drei Schlafzimmern teilt man sich ein Duschbad mit Toilette und eine weitere Einzeltoilette. Der Kontakt zur Vermieterin war ausgesprochen nett und zuvorkommend. Wir haben uns wirklich sehr willkommen gefühlt. Auch Check-in und Check-out sind sehr gut gelaufen. Und auch die Haushaltshilfe war sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich. Je nachdem, wie der Wind steht, hört man die Autobahn, die nicht weit entfernt ist. Das hat uns jedoch überhaupt nicht gestört, weil die schöne Anlage des Hauses und der fantastische Blick so viel an Erholung gegeben haben, dass das für uns nicht ins Gewicht gefallen ist. Wir hatten wirklich eine fantastische Zeit und haben uns sehr willkommen, umsorgt und gleichzeitig selbständig gefühlt - will sagen, wir haben uns gut betreut aber nicht bewacht oder beobachtet gefühlt. Wir waren also rundum begeistert und können uns sehr gut vorstellen, wiederzukommen. Tausend Dank!

Einfach wunderbar

Wir waren eine gemischte Gruppe (Alter: 1 Jahr bis 60 Jahre). Das Haus gab alles her, was wir brauchten. Die große sehr gut ausgestattete Küche eignet sich hervorragend zum gemeinsamen Kochen. Der lange Tisch im Außenbereich ist super zum Essen und Sitzen für alle und bietet einen herrlichen Blick auf den Atlantik und man sieht die schönen Sonnenuntergänge. Der tolle Pool wurde intensiv von uns genutzt und auch regelmäßig vom Personal gereinigt. Es könnte nicht besser sein, wir werden bestimmt nochmal wiederkommen. Vielen Dank an das Servicepersonal und die Eigentümerin

We recently stayed at Casa Semaphore in mid September 2019. We were excited given all of the positive reviews -- until we arrived. The setting was lovely, the view is gorgeous, and the pool was very nice - and our group of 6 adults had plenty of room. However, the house was a little run down. We're not that picky, and perhaps other reviewers less so, but we were terribly disappointed that the house didn't match the 5 star reviews. This lovely house has potential, but needs some tender loving care -- it is definitely not 5 star review in our opinion. We quickly discovered two broken kitchen cabinet doors, dirty coffee pots and kitchen appliances, a living room curtain rod that fell off when we tried to close the curtain, a broken pool umbrella, broken back deck light, and black mold and mildew in the showers, but otherwise clean. You also may get introduced to the all-night barking dog just down the hill - I'm sure he is friendly but he sure is loud -- and, lastly, you'll be greeted by an invasion of local Algarve mosquitoes -we were bitten all night long. Unfortunately it was such that we found it uninhabitable (possibly a health risk) in our opinion and left after the second night. There are no screens on the windows provided and no air conditioning. On the second night we followed the owner’s suggestion to use plug in mosquito repellent gadgets, which we purchased to manage the mosquitoes, and sprayed insecticide before retiring and they didn't work very well. Casa Semaphore has some real potential but until they do some updating, buy some new sheets and pillows, put screens in the windows, and fix all of the little broken items, we won't be visiting any time soon. Enjoy the pool and sunsets, but beware of the mosquitoes, the barking dog and the kitchen cabinets
