Beautiful rare one-story mountain retreat 9000 ft elevation perfect for all age groups. Breath taking views of Castle Rock, Twilight, and Needles mountain ranges. It comes with a few rare gems for the area, such as high speed internet 40M/5M, only 2 miles from world class Purgatory Ski Resort, and radiant floor heating system great for cold winter night. The moment you enter the home you are greeted with high ceilings and beautiful wood floors and an open floor plan great for entertaining and/or a romantic get-away. An outdoor hot tub to soak in after a long day of adventuring or enjoy soaking in the oversized master bedroom bathtub. The kitchen is a great place for family/friends to gather with beautiful granite counters tops and a large island. All detail was thought of down to the comfortable bedding. Enjoy BBQ and a camp fire in the evening off the back porch while star gazing on a clear night. Walk to the Castle Rock trailhead right from the house. You will find there are many adventures awaiting you such as kayaking, fishing, paddle boarding, water rafting, hiking, skiing or take a short drive to the famous town of Silverton only 30 miles away. The property sits on 5 acres and has its own barn so if you are traveler with horses your horse is welcome at this property.

For those traveling with small children there is a umbrella stroller and Pack N Play available for use.

Spring break getaway to the purgatory.

This place was PERFECT! Plenty of space, hot tub was great, very SPACIOUS, EVERYTHING you need, location is perfect, literally minutes from the slopes, was able to check in early which was AWESOME, 11:00 check out is a bonus, plenty of running room for the furry friend. Would definitely recommend and hopeful it’s available for our next trip.

Great winter stay for skiing at Purg!

Our family enjoyed our stay very much. Communication was quick to respond during the stay. The property is just a couple minutes from the parking lots at Purgatory. Lots of snow around the home for our kids to play in and explore. We will consider staying here again. :-)

Enjoyed our stay. The house is well stocked. The views from the living room are amazing. we had a little snafu at check-in, but this was easily resolved. The host was very responsive in helping us out. The hot tub is a nice touch after a day of adventuring.

Perfect mountain getaway

We loved our stay at the property. Plenty of incredible hikes within a few minutes. Close to Durango Hot springs. Jenny and Shawn have a beautiful home that is clean and well cared for with all the amenities to make a long stay comfortable. They are very responsive if you have any questions as well. We will definitely be back. Oh and don’t forget to enjoy the view!

Diversion in Durango

The home is in a great location, we had Mountain View’s in every direction! There are hiking trails that lead up the mountain behind the home for an amazing view of the area, you can see for miles. About a mile down the road there’s the Nugget Bar, it is an absolute must! Jenny was great to work with, there was an issue with the fire place prior to our arrival, she worked to ensure that it would be available for us to use while we were there. The home was clean and very well stocked. We cannot wait to come back!

Perfect ski spot

Great home with lots of space. They included additional amentities which is a big deal to me. Never needed extra paper products, soaps, even laundry detergent and dryer sheets were there. Took us about 5 minutes to get to mountain for skiing. I do suggest you stop in durango at walmart for food if you dont plan on going into town. Heating was a bit hard to get a hang of being from Texas. Took a while to get warm then house was super warm and needed to be adjusted. No humidifiers in the home if thats important to you. House was adorably decorated for Christmas. That was super special to us as our elves had lots of places to hide for the kids each night. Garage was available for vehicle but didnt use it. I would highly recommend!!!

Great Durango Vacation

This was a wonderful property outside of Durango. The views are amazing and the property was clean and as advertised! I would certainly recommend this property to anyone! We had a slight hiccup at check in, but was on the phone with the owner within 10min getting everything squared away. Great communication with any property owner is key and it was just that with Jenny!!!

Beautiful views, beautiful house

Even more lovely in person than photos show! Great location for my family to celebrate Thanksgiving together. My mobility impaired mother, who can walk some but uses a wheelchair most of the time, was able to get around the house. There are 2 steps up to each door, including the garage door, but if you can manage that, the floors are all tile or wood and it is single story. Holiday decorations were so cheerful. Hot tub was clean and warm. It takes time to heat initially but then stayed hot the whole trip. Only fits 4 as advertised. Lots of towels for hot tub. Beds are the memory foam type in case that matters to you. Owners are responsive and super nice. Short drive to Durango or Purgatory. We lucked out and had some snow for our stay which was such fun. House was warm and cozy. You can tell it is a home because of various little conveniences like towel hooks, well stocked kitchen, streaming channels, good Wifi, generous supply of soaps, etc. Having room for two cars in the garage was a nice bonus in the winter. Highly recommend.

I highly recommend this rental, if you are traveling to this area! The home is beautiful, spacious, comfortable, and relaxing! It is centrally located between Silverton and Durango, and the views of nearby Castle Rock are stunning! Our host, Jenny, was wonderful! She was very available and helpful. Love this house and property owner

This house is everything we could have hoped for. My wife keeps a very clean house and loved the cleanliness of this house. I have dreamt of living in the Durango Rocky Mountains for yrs. It was time to make that dream come true. I now get a home to share with other that enjoy the outdoors and hope that you feel at peace like I do in this home. Unfortunately, I am not able to do it full-time so plan to spend as much time as I can enjoying a life of balance between Phoenix,AZ and Durango and share special moments with my children. I have traveled around the world staying at vacation rentals and know exactly what I would want in a space.

Why they chose this property

It is much easier to get to than other mountain properties, 2 miles from skiing, walking distance to small market and also the "Old School House" pizza/bar open to all ages and has a shuffle board and a Pool Table. One mile north of the home is a great hang-out for all ages called the Nugget. They have gas fire-pits with chairs wrapped around. They have live music on Saturday during summer and my boy never wants to leave once we are there. Feel free to take your own marshmallows and sticks to roast. They have a great hangout bar and a food truck with healthy and unhealthy food options.

There are all kinds of activities around. Two miles north there is a small lake where you can rent paddle boards, canoes, kayak, and small paddle boats. There is a beautiful trail head that you can walk to from the home called 'Castle Rock'

What makes this property unique

Radiant in floor heating system, high speed internet 40m/5m for those that need to work remotely. Keep in mind we are 9000 ft elevation and get a lot of snow so there are times that internet due to weather is down. We do have a back-up option with guest going to the lobby of Purgatory Sky Resort. I have a horse stall (unused) and 5 acres for those who want to travel with their horses. Trailhead from home is horse friendly. I am also a pet lover so house trained dogs allowed.
