Come stay at our newly furnished beautiful FireWater Lake cottage with a boat dock and Deck overlooking the lake. Set your own mood with our lighting, sit back by the fireplace, enjoy the amazing lake views, play with the new 65 inch 4K tv, Alexa, WiFi, LED HUE Lighting, top notch stereo system and connect to easily with your phone and enjoy the warm feeling of this 95 year old cottage. Walk too experience the new Devon Amphitheatre when open, Beach house, Children's Museum, Sculpture garden, Decatur Zoo & Train, mini-Golf and flower garden within the Nelson park area. Bring your boat for a weekend on the lake or go swimming off the dock. Take a walk on the bike and walk path to the new 911 memorial. Enjoy the best views on Lake Decatur all while relaxing in our new furniture, new lighting and entertainment system featuring a 4K 65 inch Smart TV and Smart TV's in both bedrooms. Our cottage is fully furnished and is easily accessed. This vista offers a refreshing and stimulating experience that is a much better value for the cost than any other option in central Illinois !! We live just across the lake and will be easily accessible for anything you need during your stay. I do want to caution that the house sits on the top of a bluff with a lot of steps, I wanted to note this for anyone with small children or that are not a fan of a few extra stairs.

Home was exactly as described. Everything we needed. Short walk to concert at Devon Lakeshore amphitheater and the Beachhouse restaurant. Very much enjoyed the dock and deck. Spent time watching the boats on the lake and the beautiful moon rise last night. Bed were very comfy. Will stay here again!!

The house had a great view of the lake and the neighborhood was quiet. We really liked the porch with the lights and speakers and the table was big enough to sit all of us.The furniture was stained, had a couple broken windows, no spatula to flip the burgers ( had to use tongues and destroyed a couple), window sills were filthy (didn't want to have the windows open), blinds in the rooms were damaged, no curtains in the bathroom or living room, not enough outlets in the rooms (two of us have medical devices that needed to be plugged in) and forced to purchase the damage protection.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We’re sorry to hear that a few things didn’t meet your expectations. After reviewing your comments, we confirmed that the kitchen does include multiple spatulas and a full set of grilling tools. We also checked the windows and did not find any that were broken, though a few did need a deeper cleaning, which has now been taken care of. A couple of bedroom blinds were damaged—likely from previous guests—and those have been replaced. Our cottage backs up to a beautiful, land‑locked forest preserve area, which we cannot access from behind the property. As for curtains, we’ve never used them in the living room or on the small bathroom window, and in ten years of hosting, this has never been an issue for guests. The home has plenty of outlets, and we regularly host large groups with many devices without any problems. We always appreciate feedback and use it to keep improving. While we know we can’t please everyone, we’re proud of the many positive experiences reflected in our long history of reviews. Thank you again for staying with us.
