This large 1 bedroom, 2 bathroom condo has spectacular views and is in the perfect location to visit the beautiful Big Island, with a spacious great room, kitchen, laundry, a/c, private lanai overlooking the heated swimming pool, whirlpool spa and barbecue area and the ocean beyond. This beautiful condo is directly across the street from one of the best snorkeling places on the Big Island. It was well stocked with beach supplies and the bed was really comfortable. AC made sleeping easy! There is a grocery store and restaurants nearby. Our favorite part of the trip was watching the sunset on the Lanai! We will stay here again!

Condo was very clean and updated. Location was perfect to the ocean and snorkeling. Close to shops and restaurants. Close enough to downtown Kona but without the noise and traffic. Pool and hot tub cleaned daily grounds well maintained. Only downside is that it is a 3rd floor unit with amazing views unfortunately, without an elevator. Hosts were awesome to work with. This rental was perfection. Wonderful condo. Perfectly outfitted. Due to a food allergy, I cooked most meals at the condo…so having a well stocked kitchen is key. There were also beach towels, a cooler, and other beach and snorkeling gear. Directly across from one of the best snorkeling spots on the Big Island. Our hosts were phenomenal communicators. We will absolutely return to this magical place.

Very beautiful condo right across from a great snorkeling and family beach! The hosts are fantastic and the condo is well-stocked,(body boards, snorkeling gear, chairs, etc.) and beautifully decorated with a lovely balcony overlooking the pool and the beach/ocean. We highly recommend this place.

Kahalu'u Paradise

This unit was well thought out, well equipped and the hosts were very easy to work with. We appreciated its proximity to Kahalu'u Bay and South Kona. The unit was nicely decorated and has a fantastic view to the bay. Our kids enjoyed the pool and the geckos that frequent the grounds. Many thanks to the hosts for sharing a dream spot with us!

Extraordinary!

Rachel and Jason have created a spectacular space with an exception view of one of the best snorkeling areas on the big island. The condo is in a quiet neighborhood, convenient distance to Kona or to 2 Step and easy to get the highway to Kīlauea. The condo is well equipped in the kitchen and also with things you might want for the beach. The bed was extremely comfortable. 5 Stars! Will be my choice of where to stay for my next trip to Kona.

Second time we’ve stayed at this property. We love the quieter end of Ali’i Drive. Located right across the street from excellent snorkeling at Kahalu’u Beach. Relaxing Stay at Surfing Turtle Kona

Excellent condo on the top floor overlooking Kahalu'u beach. Condo has all the beach and snorkeling gear you need. Kitchen is well stocked with cooking essentials. Lanai is great for meals, sunsets, and relaxation. Wonderful pool and hot tub to enjoy after a long day exploring this amazing island. Hosts Rachel and Jason were very responsive to any questions or needs we had. A heads up for older folks like us, no elevator, just three flights of stairs. Stayed two weeks, very much enjoyed our stay here and would return.

We absolutely loved this condo! It is a perfect location across from an amazing snorkeling beach, minutes to a great supermarket and restaurants but yet quiet at night. Wonderfull owners. Gave lot of advices on things to see and do. Very clean place. Has beach chairs, towels, snorkelling gear. If you love to snorkel thats the place for you. You see more fish than going on snorkel tours. We look forward staying there again.

Best for Snorkelers!

This place is perfect if you want to snorkel. The closest place to the best snorkel spot on the island. The condo was super comfortable and clean, great for two people. Hosts super responsive, even purchased a yoga mat for me when I asked if the unit had one. Mattress is quite hard, lots of steps (no elevator) and, as others have mentioned, a lot of road noise and leaf blowers every morning. Overall, wonderful stay.

We moved to the Big Island in 2013, looking for the best spot in the world to swim with sea turtles and mantas. We found it here in Kona. We met in Costa Rica working with sea turtles and fell in love, then we moved around, had our beautiful daughter and finally settled on the Big Island with one set of Grandparents.

Why they chose this property

Kahalu'u is very special to us. When we first came to visit Hawaii, we stayed in this condo and explored the reef and fell in love with this spot. It inspired us to move to Hawaii in 2013 and we have been enjoying Kahalu'u ever since. We do everything we can to help protect this natural wonder, from volunteering for reef education and awareness to collecting coral spawn to assist scientist grow corals that can sustain our warming oceans. We hope that you find that you care about Kahalu'u when you are here and are inspired as we were to learn more about protecting this marvel of nature.

What makes this property unique

This reef is super shallow and easy to snorkel and see fish, crabs, octopus and many other marine creatures. Sea Turtles are a common resident of our bay and often are seen by snorkelers as they are exploring the bay. The bay itself has a rich Hawaiian history and is a popular destination for tourists and locals. Half of the bay is sheltered and suitable for snorkeling the other half is open to the ocean and provides an excellent surfing reef.
