Relish your quiet beach, collect shells and sand dollars, watch pelicans and sea hawks dive for their meals...Away from the high rises, condos and cars - slip into wave-time. And when you're hungry or want to shop - walk to St Armand's Circle - only 5 minutes away!

We make it easy for you to bring only your swimsuit, flip flops and a coverup - you'll have all the amenities (chairs, umbrellas, wagon, beach towels) on the property waiting for you! Spend the evening watching the sunset on the beach and come back to your cottage and sit in comfy chairs in your private back yard to count the stars! Or grill out with our propane grill or cook just the right meal in our completely outfitted kitchen. Or hang out on the NEW Screened Florida Room out front and say hi to the neighbors.

We offer a King bedroom with an ensuite bath/shower, a Queen bedroom that shares the hall bath with the cottage and a separate sunroom that has a full-sized bed that can sleep 2.

We use high thread count linens, extra pillows for your comfort selection, Turkish Towels, Fully Stocked Kitchen with all New Bosch and GE Profile Appliances. We even have a private, high end washer/dryer (no key cards!)

Flamingo Cottage takes you back in time with charm and modern day comforts galore. The screened Florida Room welcomes you home with over 500 square feet of comfy, dry, bugless outdoor space! The main living area has comfy leather furniture and desk, a 65" smart TV (with DVD player), which is open to dining room and kitchen, plus a "smart" 42" TV in the King bedroom. The back patio is complete with 2 modern chaise lounges with side tables, a large table and chairs for 6, solar lighted large umbrella and a Weber BBQ grill (propane provided). After dinner, slip out the back door into the velvet night. Sit in the comfy chairs and sofas and tell a story or two while you find your favorite constellations.

Awesome vacation home in North Lido

I Family has stayed with Deb for the second time this year. We love this location and it’s sister cottage next-door. Great location, walkable to Saint Armands Circle, and just a short walk to the beach. Great environment and the beach is not crowded typically. We will definitely stay again!

We are beach lovers - in the truest sense! Over thirty years ago, we met on a California beach while helping a lost child and we've been married and beachcombing around the world ever since - in between raising two incredible children and our careers. Our parents live just down the road and we split our time between Lido Key and our home in Ridgefield, CT. We treasure our two family beach cottages, which we have named Lido Pelican Cottage and Lido Flamingo Cottage. We are looking forward to sharing them with you!

Why they chose this property

Lido Key (and Sarasota), Florida has just the right combination of incredible beaches and sunsets, terrific dining, shopping and entertainment, and an impressive cultural community with fine arts, opera, ballet, museums and gardens. Lido Flamingo Cottage is just the right size for small gatherings with so much to do within walking distance of the home. This is the perfect vacation cottage for the family and friends with multiple and diverse interests!

Expertly outfitted for your comfort, you can grab the beach buggy, load up the chairs, toys and towels and walk down the sand dune path to the beach, OR you can stroll to St Armands Circle, where you can shop, grab a burger or enjoy fine French, Columbian, Asian Fusion or fresh seafood dinner , get ice cream, listen to live music, dance under the stars and enjoy the seasonal festivals that come to the Circle OR you can walk down the short street and rent an electric bike and ride around Lido Key, Longboat Key, or even cross the bridge to Sarasota. You can also ride to the other side of Lido Key, where you can rent kayaks and take a guided tour through the mangroves, spotting manatees, dolphins, rays and lots of fish and crabs that live in the bay. Jet skiing rental is also available close by.

Head north from St Armands Circle, and visit world renown Mote Aquarium (also on Lido Key!), or go East from the Circle and cross the bridge to the mainland: downtown Sarasota (where blocks of dining, shopping, live music, outdoor dancing, etc.), and Marie Selby Botanical Gardens awaits. Of course, there is also the Ringling Museum, the world ranked Ringling school of art and design, several playhouses, opera house, ballet company, dozens of art galleries and impressive shows at the Van Wetzel! The former winter home of the Ringling Bros Circus, Sarasota is chock full of creative, inventive, and performing artists and artisans!

What makes this property unique

Completely renovated and remodeled in 2018, this sweet cottage is a slice of "Old Florida". Originally built in 1954, the bedrooms are paneled in original and restored Florida cypress - which naturally repels insects and termites. The closets are lined with cedar to repel the moths. The bathroom tiles, lovingly restored, reflect the bright, Florida colors (pink and yellow) characteristic of the period of simple, functional and playful times at the beach. During the renovation, the carpeting was removed and the original terraza floor, that was very popular when it was built, was in perfect condition - waiting for guests to come in from the beach with sand between their toes.

New appliances and breakfast bar, as well as a full-size refrigerator, dishwasher and antique serving bureau combine the best of old and new.

The backyard has a six person patio table and chairs, with a shady large umbrella that is easy to raise and lower. We've also included a propane powered BBQ AND an outdoor fire seating area where you can sit back, enjoy the warmth and scan the stars. We provide the propane! It even has an outside shower, where folks shower off their sandy feet and rinse themselves from the salt and sand...

Come feel the loving embrace of this delightful Florida cottage by the sea! Time will melt into beach time - where the only worries are where to play and where/when/what to eat!
