Charming Lakefront Chalet

Majestically situated with rolling lawn to our own beach and spectacular views of Lake Wallenpaupack. 3 miles from Hawley, 8 miles from I-84. 2 decks, fireplace, New 50 foot dock for your boat or use our rowboat, canoe and shared paddle-boat. Full sized pool table, ping pong, board games, croquet, badminton and volleyball. Cable TV with DVD and video library, wireless Internet, paved driveway and extensive library. Washer/dryer. new barbecue, fire pit, hammock. Charming rustic decor. Fun for all ages.


Golf is available at Cricket Hill, about 10 minutes away, other courses are within 1/2 hour drive. Tennis courts and a skateboard park are located in Hawley. Fishing is abundant from the dock, shore and boat. Licenses are required for over 12. Hawley is a quaint historical town noted for antiques, and there are many restaurants of all types in the area, including two within easy walking distance. Close by are mini-golf, go carts, a driving range, paintball and horseback riding. An excellent library also offers Internet access. In Honesdale, about 15 minutes away, are many fine gift shops and museums of area history. An Environmental Center is 5 minutes away and features classes and exhibits. A local theater group at the Ritz Theater in town features a changing program, and a Wildflower Music Festival and Honesdale's twice weekly concerts in the park feature well-known performers in a natural setting. Churches abound in Hawley, and synagogues are nearby. Local fairs are held nearly every weekend.

The lakefront property was great. We enjoyed the row boat and canoe. We also enjoyed the deck where we ate all meals - whether they were take out from nearby restaurants (Walked to the Boathouse Restaurant) or cooked on the grill or firepit. Also, it was great that we could bring our twelve year old dog with us.

Lake front home with a beautiful view

My family had a wonderful week at Nancy and Otto’s lake house. The house had all the necessary amenities. We enjoyed eating meals sitting at the picnic table on the deck overlooking the lake. We had fun taking the paddle boat and row boat out and swimming in the lake. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Lake Wallenpaupack lake house

The place was perfect for the plans we had. My wife and I rotated family and friends throughout the week. The dock was brand new and was the perfect size to swim or tie a boat to it. The weather was perfect. It only rained late at night. Our10 month old puppy loved diving off the dock to get his tennis ball. We met some of the resident and they were wonderful toward us. It is a definite place to vacation in the future

Wonderful stay at the lake!

My husband and I had such a wonderful time while visiting Lake Wallenpaupack. The weather was hot but perfect for enjoying swimming and boating on the lake. The house was perfect for us and we truly enjoyed staying there. Lots of great restaurants nearby.

Favorite place on the lake!

This was our 3rd summer staying at Nancy and Otto's home. It did not disappoint, and we can not wait to go back again next summer. The new full bed in the downstairs was a great new addition, and the home itself continues to have everything we need for a cozy family vacation: games galore, lake toys, a fire pit for s'mores, and a dock for our boat. Nancy is very easy to get in touch with and always willing to help with any requests. Restaurants are close by (one you can walk to), and we rented stand up paddle boards just down the road. Love this place!

Cozy vacation spot that feels like home.

This was our second time staying at Nancy and Otto's home, and once again it was fabulous. Nancy was fantastic about touching base prior to our stay to make sure our needs were met, and she always leaves a little handmade gift to remember our stay. There was new carpet and flooring which made things feel fresh, and the garage/home was packed with games, puzzles, and water toys to keep the kids busy. The dock was perfect for our boat, and the driveway had plenty of room for our two cars and the boat trailer. In addition, our daughter and niece spent hours using sidewalk chalk to color the rocks on the beach right by the dock and then wash them in the water- plenty of space to play. The only reason we did not give this a 5 was because the mattresses seem ready for an update, which could be an issue for a sensitive sleeper. However, Nancy and Otto seem to always be making updates each year to this fantastic property, so maybe that will be next on the list.

A great house to rent at the lake

The house was by far the best equipped house for a vacation we have ever used. Kitchen had everything we needed. Boats for our use, games for our pleasure, an easy stroll to the lake. The owners thought of many amenities to make the vacation enjoyable. We would highly recommend renting this home.

This house has all the comforts of home with a wonderful view and access to the lake. Grassy lawn to play on, pool and ping pong table for rainy days, canoe and paddle boat for the water, convenient location to restaurants and stores.

Perfect vacation get-a-way

This was our second year at this property and it is still our favorite vacation 'home'. The grassy backyard with all the lawn games is such an added PLUS. Most homes have steep walks to the lake or totally wooded lots. Our teenagers love the pool table for rainy times during our stay and we all enjoy the different board games that are provided for night time entertainment. The paddleboat and canoe are fun times and being in a cove is a sheltered haven for boat owners and swimmers. Two family friendly restaurants are near by; both perfect for sitting outside and enjoying sunset cocktails. After over 50 years of vacationing all over the lake, this is our favorite spot!!

We are retired educators who enjoy travel. Because we love our beautiful home so much, we like to share it with others and hate to see it idle while we are away. It would be such a waste! Our daughter lives nearby and is available for questions during your stay. We gift each visiting family with a handcrafted souvenir of their stay and welcome several families back for return visits.

Why they chose this property

While raising 5 children, we yearned for a lakeside home. When they were finally out of school and we could afford one, the children moved to other states. We searched the whole Wallenpaupack area and found this charming home and property which constantly give us joy. Late at night, we look out on the moonlit lake and still can't believe that this good fortune is really ours! Our grandchildren love the paddle boat, canoe and rowboat, and enjoy fishing from our own dock. Lawn and board games keep them busy day and night. It is comfortable for up to three couples or a total of 8 if some are children. There are two master bedrooms and a double as well as a sleeping loft. Sitting around our own firepit in the evening completes a perfect day of sun and water.

This property is completely modern while retaining its country charm. From the open plan kitchen and living area to the spectacular deck, it is the perfect setting for a family or couples who enjoy beautiful lake views, serenity and convenience to major roads, activities, restaurants and town. Whether you like to swim, fish, boat or just enjoy our views of the most beautiful part of the lake from the deck, this is the perfect vacation home.
