Cute updated cabin with a rich history on small lake. It was central to all the places and things we visited.
Suzzie was an excellent host. We had our family of 5 there for the weekend and it was a great place to stay. We'll be back in the future.
The cabin is so comfy and homey. We loved the setting and could watch birds as we ate on the deck. Centrally located for birding. Only 30 minutes from several hot birding/hiking spots. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay and hope to be back soon.
Hubby & I snuck away for our anniversary & this place was perfect!!!
This cabin is far enough in the country for peace & privacy, yet within a 10-15 min drive to food, shopping & entertainment! We spoiled ourselves & ate out all weekend, but the kitchen is supplied for all your cooking needs. Wonderful sheets & towels as well!!! We can’t wait to go back🙂
This was a great property, both as a place to just relax and as a home base for exploring southern Illinois. The hosts were wonderful. The house is comfortable and the kitchen is fully equipped. Sitting on the deck anytime a day is so very relaxing.
Something to be aware of if you use GPS directions, the house is on the opposite side of the road than the Google maps indicate.
I booked this place for my parents to get away for a few days. They really enjoyed the peace and quiet. The furnishings were to their liking, except the bed was a little bit high for them to get in and out of, but they managed. The place was clean, light & airy. Their favorite part was the deck though. They ate breakfast every morning out there enjoying the beautiful nature. The wind chimes & the flowers out front were an added bonus. The flowers had a pleasant fragrance. Stores & restaurants were within 6 -7 miles which made it very convenient. The host was readily available upon request. Great place to stay if you want peace and quiet. Thumbs up for this place.
Delightful cottage for restful and restorative vacation.
We walked in and found a very cozy and homey cabin. The deck outside is the most peaceful place I’ve been in a while. I am a bird lover and found plenty of birds to identify. I was also very excited to see wood ducks and blue wing teal. My boyfriend went and caught tons of bass and some huge crappie. I even caught a few even though I am not a fisherman in the slightest. The weather did not cooperate and we were not able to use the paddle boat Ms. Suzzie provided to my disappointment. We had several strong storms that made being inside even better. I heard myself think for the first time in a long time. The beautiful historic barn was a focus of many pictures. The bathtub is amazing and is a requirement for those needing a good soak. If your needing to recharge and refresh this is the place to go! The fresh air, solitude and beautiful property restores your soul. Ms. Suzzie was excellent checking and replying quickly to any questions or comments. Thank you again! Beth & Joe
2nd time staying here Suzzie is a great host goes out of her way to make sure you’re happy the coffee pot went out the day after we got there didn’t look very old told her about it and that it wasn’t a big deal we just boiled some water and poured it t the filter about a half hour later she showed up with another one looking forward to our next trip there so peaceful relaxing and quiet can’t wait
This place is nothing short of amazing. The views, the fishing and the wildlife. This short trip to decompress from work was so worth it and we wish we had more time off to stay longer. Suzy is amazing. The cabin is adorable and fully stocked with all the things you need. This will be another of our yearly stops!
