Charming Farmhouse on Beautiful Horse Farm

The Flying Duck Farmhouse is a restored vintage farmhouse located at the foot of Three Sisters Mountains less than 4 miles from downtown Dahlonega. Surrounded by horse pastures, wineries, hiking trails, waterfalls, breathtaking views and one of the most delightful small towns in the USA. Spend a weekend in our clean mountain air enjoying the unique shops and restaurants in Dahlonega and local wineries (Cavender Creek, Wolf Mountain, Frogtown and Kaya Vineyards are all less than 5 miles away). Or, you can enjoy hiking, rafting, kayaking, mountain climbing, zip lining, trout fishing, or just relaxing. Our Farmhouse is the perfect get away in a great location.

The farmhouse can accommodate up to 5 people. There are two bedrooms each with a queen bed and one pullout sofa in the living room. To make your sleep more comfortable, we use PeachSkin Bedding and hypoallergenic pillow covers. There is a fully equipped kitchen if you want to eat-in. The decor is cozy with a quirky edge to add some happy to your stay.

Just a short walk away is a large deck overlooking a beautiful stream - a perfect place to pan for gold or have cocktails. You may run into Katie, our miniature donkey, who loves to have her ears rubbed or see horses grazing in the pastures.

There is a large pond on the farm that has lots fish. You are welcomed to bring your poles/bait and try your luck. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Catch and release only please.

We have just added a fire pit at the farmhouse for your use.

We love our horse farm and enjoy sharing it with others.

Great Horse Farm and Hosts!

We enjoyed our stay here, in the country but close to lots of wineries, food and shopping! Loved that you can walk around the property and pet the horses and especially the miniature donkey! Hosts were very friendly and responsive!

Love this Place

A great place to relax with amazing views. The early morning walks with sights of deer and friendly horses to see. Beautiful country private setting that won't disappoint !

This was an amazing property that offered both serene quiet while still being close to everything! It's also got beautiful views! The house was clean and very cute. The only downside was the shower was small; however, it makes up for it by having a detachable shower head. My mom and i panned for gold in the nearby creek. We loved that they had gold pans and directions for us to do this! I would definitely stay here again!

Our second time here!

Our family came in April for a quick weekend wedding, but knew we wanted to come back in the summer to experience more in the town. We had the best time doing all things! Dahlonega is such a sweet town. We even visited the community pool in town and paid a small fee to enter, highly recommend going in the summer if you have kids! Lazy river, water slides and pool were a hit! The property once again was amazing. The house is so clean and Brenda and Mike are amazing hosts. My girls loved seeing all the animals again especially Katie & John Wayne and catching so many fish! My 10 year old daughter reeled in a 5lbs 3oz bass! The property was great to relax on. We can’t wait to come back again, our kids ask often! I highly recommend staying here if you’re looking in this area.

Our family had an incredible stay at the Flying Duck!!! The house was perfect, beautifully decorated, cozy and super clean! The property was amazing and everything down to the hand soap was a special touch. The hosts were so gracious and welcoming. our one complaint is that we had to go back home.

Beautiful!

Cozy little cabin with beautiful views all around. We got to stroll down and pet one of the horses, look at the donkey and do a little trail walk. House has everything you could need and more! If we are ever in the area we will definitely visit again!

Perfect farm cottage

I stayed here before and came back for the July 4th weekend. It’s such a cozy cottage on beautiful property, and the owners are so nice! You can walk around the property and see their horses and donkey and live your best farm life! The house is clean and cozy and the perfect spot to relax and unwind. Will definitely be back again.

Just Perfect for Us

My wife, three children, and I stayed here for a weekend, and we couldn’t have enjoyed it more. My 7 year old daughter couldn’t have been more excited to meet Katie and John Wayne and my 9 year old son couldn’t be pulled away from fishing in the pond where he caught more fish than he ever has before. The Ducks have an amazing property that they are incredibly gracious to share with their guests. We couldn’t recommend it more, and will be returning, for sure!

Home away from home - with a donkey!

This rental made our life so easy, and it is such a beautiful property. It's a remodeled house, so it has a vintage feel with modern updates. The farm decor was absolutely adorable. There were tons of linens and kitchen supplies, so I didn't need to bring any of that from home. The beds were comfortable, the appliances all worked, and the shower was hot. I will say that it is the tiniest shower that I have ever been in, even smaller than what you would find on a cruise ship, but the water is hot with good pressure and we survived. The kids (and I) absolutely loved being able to spend time with the friendly donkey and horse on the property - it was one of the highlights of our trip. The property was conveniently located near town, and the owners (in a separate hour) were nice and thoughtful. I would absolutely stay here again - we were sad to leave!

Don't miss this one....This stay was so wonderful. It was an incredible weekend getaway for our family. The cottage was so clean and perfect! Mike & Brenda were the perfect hosts. So friendly, treated us like family. I would highly recommend this stay to anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle. WE ARE ALREADY TRYING TO PLAN ANOTHER STAY.

Excellent accommodation for nearby wedding.

The house was easy to find, very clean, decorated nicely, and had everything our family of 5 needed. We walked the horse farm property and our kids loved seeing the horses, donkey, and dogs. We enjoyed talking to the property owners and watching them ride horses before going into Dahlonega and attending our wedding 1mile away. Peaceful location and beautiful stars but close to many things to do. We would stay here again.

Mothers Day Getaway

My mom and I stayed at Duck Farm for a Mother/Daughter Mother's Day weekend getaway in May 2025. We had a wonderful experience! The farm house is exactly as pictured - well stocked, clean with a lovely, homey feel! Perfect location, very convenient to several wineries and downtown Dahlonega. Would definitely stay again!

Loved this little farm cottage!!

The property is beautiful, the house is adorable, the horses and mini donkey (Katie) are so cute. This was the perfect getaway! We did the Amicalola falls hike (about 30 mins away). Love this place! We will definitely be back!

Best VRBO Ever!

This VRBO should be rated 10 stars instead of 5! We had the best stay last weekend with our family. Brenda & Mike are wonderful and Katie the Donkey, stole our hearts! My children loved all the animals and caught SO much fish. The house is so clean and well stocked! Beds are very comfy :) We can not wait to come back again. We highly recommend staying here.
