Just 3 minutes off I-5 this ranch style recently remodeled house offers two bedrooms and 1 bath. Originally a blacksmith shop to support the new railroad this property has a rich history. Hornbrook was first a gold mining town, featuring the "Million Dollar Jilson Mine". As a railroad town, Hornbrook had hotels, boarding houses, restaurants, blacksmith shop (where you could rent a buggy), retail stores and more. It took the railroad a full day to get over the Siskiyou Mountains to Ashland so passengers travelling north and south had to overnight in Hornbrook. You’ll get a great night’s rest on the plush King-sized bed that you can find in the master bedroom and a bunk bed (full bottom/twin top) in the 2nd bedroom.
Make yourself at home during your stay, as the kitchen is fully equipped (with extras juicer, blender, waffle maker, toaster). High-speed WiFi is available for work or a movie binge.
Other features: TV in Living Room (w soundbar) and in Rec Room Nice backyard Pool Table, Darts and board games inside Ladder golf and barbecue in the yard Pets welcome - please inquire

Really enjoyed our stay! Nice spacious home, with a great yard to relax in during the evenings. The tiny cafe around the corner had really good food. If we have a consult job in the area again we'll definitely be back!
Country living in Hornbrook. We enjoyed our home away from home. Everything was perfect inside and out.
The property faces some railroad tracks, but don't let that hinder you from booking here. We think these tracks are inactive because not 1 train came through.
We stayed over 4th of July and enjoyed a true country parade with a drum band at parade central, lots of horses, antique cars, kids on motor bikes and, of course, fire trucks.
Thank you Richard for sharing your property with us! We shall return.
The house was very nice inside. I was expecting a cabin, but it is actually a house, so I was very pleasantly surprised. The owner/host is quite nice and very responsive. I enjoyed my stay!
The property itself was comfortable and quiet, and had all the amenities a guest might want (more than we needed or used). It's a rural location, which was fine by us, but we just weren't clear on the distance to Yreka - I was doing a sponsored cycling event there. We're also used to a king size bed, so adjusting to a queen was a challenge for us - but not Richard's fault!
My boyfriend and I had an amazing time staying here. The house was spacious, comfortable, and the yard area was so cool. Richard was a gracious host and super flexible when our departure date was delayed. We can't thank him enough! 10/10 would recommend!
Everything was what we expected. I loved the privacy and autonomy
Everything was what we expected. The property was clean, comfortable and perfect for a party. I loved the privacy and autonomy that Richard offered us, thanks for that!
Super comfortable, well appointed house, accommodating host, awesome location!
Richard’s house was such a pleasant surprise! Roomy, with a huge backyard with cute nooks to sit and relax. The kitchen had everything one needs cook full meals, and we dined outside almost every night.
The pool table was an unexpectedly nice touch, we used it most nightd and had fun with it.
Perhaps the best thing about this house is its location: close to tons of rivers, lakes, rapids, parks and just incredibly beautiful nature. Only 20 minutes or so from Adhland, Oregon and eithin 2 hrs of Mt. Shasta, Klamath Falls, the Rogue River for rafting, too much to mention.
Richard is the kindest host, very responsive and had great tips on things to see and places to eat. We didn’t want to leave and hope to be back really soon!

Thank you so much for your nice comments. You and your family were a delight to have as guests. Hope to see you again next year!
House was nice and clean. Pool table was a plus. Kitchen well stocked. King bed had bad springs on one side so was uncomfortable for person on the right side. Other beds looked great but we didn't try them. Would be great for a large family with kids. House stayed cool in hot weather. Overall good stay. Internet goes out but Richard would reset immediately when called. Location was great right in the middle of many National Parks and hiking trails. Great value for cost.

About the host

I've been an owner in R-Ranch Hornbrook since 1981 which first brought me to Hornbrook. As an avid horse rider I've been keeping my horse at the ranch. While riding in the summer of 2017 I noticed this place for sale - and as they say the rest is history. After a complete rehab the place is ready for guests. Everything is here for you - just bring food and clothes!
Why they chose this property
Centrally located to access both the open spaces of California's Siskiyou County, which inlcudes 14,000 foot Mt. Shasta, the Klamath River and more and to southern Oregon's most populated metro's of Medford and Ashland with winery tours, theaters, restaurants and the gateway to Crater Lake.
What makes this property unique
Great place for relaxation with family and friends with plenty of outdoor spaces to gather and games to pass the time away as the creek rolls gently by. The rec-room features a high-end pool table and big screen TV. The living room features comfortable furniture and a big screen TV, board games, etc. Win a bottle of wine by collecting all the rail road spikes hidden around the property.
