Let’s start with the good stuff. It’s flat out beautiful. It was clean on arrival and the host left the lights on for us which was nice. You can’t beat the views coming or going. It’s pretty spectacular. There are also lots of coffee to pick from in the cabinets. There are also leftover bathroom needs like tooth brushes in case you forgot. Also host was VERY nice and offered us solar glasses to watch the eclipse! Now to the bad stuff. One, it should be very clearly posted that the road going to the cabin is NO JOKE and only very experienced drivers should attempt it. After you leave Ashland it’s a great ten mile ride until you hit the S turns on a mountain side that is straight down, with no guard rail and absolutely no room for error. If you make the slightest mistake you will die. (My boyfriend says I’m exaggerating, but I disagree, as I’m the one who drove it every day for 7 days.) mind you it’s only 7 miles of 66 that is like this, as we drove from the cabin to Crater Lake through Klamath Falls and all was fine. Two, when the host tells you they will turn the heat you expect that to be higher than 62°, especially when it’s 49° outside. Seems like common sense, but when you come inside to find notes on the heater that read “if you want warmer burn wood” you immediately get annoyed. Again, something you should know up front. Also if you are requiring wood for warmth, maybe the host should provide more than split logs and ONE Diet Coke box. There is so much more

Relax, relax!
Upon arriving, I was surprised at how secluded it was. But after getting settled I was at peace with the trees, animals, and clean air that would become my "home" for 5 days. Rachel and her lovely daughter, Zoey, met me and made me feel welcome and offered help whenever I needed. I was sure I would be up and down the hill going into town but instead, found the nearby restaurant with enough good food and essentials to last my stay - along with what I brought from home. The kitchen well stocked and everything needed was right there. No TV?... no problem. No network news is good news. My son and his wife joined me from Portland after a couple days and our only trip to town was on the final day - where we said goodbye to each other and 'Greensprings Wildlife Sanctuary'. Looking forward to a re-visit.

Easy to reach, secluded, large cabin, comfortable, forested, rural setting..
Checkin/out easy. Owner on land, in separate home, responsive to needs, flexible to family needs. Loved its natural solitude, millions of stars and friendly mules.. A bit short on spoons and smaller pans. But totally workable. Great sauna!

Quiet setting
We generally stay in Ashland for the plays, but decided to do a rural stay. This is a nice get away, fun road to drive and the PCT was a bonus. We had no real contact with the owner, so it was impersonal but ok. The price was reasonable until VRBO added excessive administration fees, making it overpriced. Will no longer use VRBO.
