About this property
Romantic Retreat: Mt. Views, Hot Tub, Movie Theater
Located in the heart of the Green Mountains on ten acres. Mountain views and remote feel, but only 20 minutes from Warren/Waitsfield area or 10 minutes to Rochester. Ski or snowshoe out the back door or cozy up and watch movies on home theater with over 200 movies. Architect designed and built, with all the modern amenities, but done in classic cabin style. Enjoy walking on site or hiking the nearby Long Trail, then a relaxing hot tub under the stars. 15 mins to Middlebury Snow Bowl, 20 mins to Sugarbush, 30 mins to Mad River Glen or 45 mins to Killington. Great swimming, kayaking, etc. nearby, too. Perfect any season!
Please remember we have two other homes on the property, so do not play loud music or shout, especially late at night, thanks.
NOTE: Pets are allowed, but there is a $30 fee for the additional cleaning and wear. Please check the box on your reservation request or contact the owner. We also ask that you pick up any land mines and keep them from barking excessively.
WINTER 4wd Car recommendation: It is recommended that you have a 4wd car or truck in the winter AND good SNOW TIRES. "All-season" tires are useless in the fresh snow, especially on the hills. The town is very good about plowing, but the hills can be tricky during snow storms and many people have had to get towed. A sand barrel is provided by the driveway for when extra traction may be needed.
TRAVEL INSURANCE: WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND PURCHASING TRAVEL INSURANCE. If you are prevented from taking your trip because of a covered reason, such as a sickness or injury of yourself or a family member, Travel Protection can help reimburse 100% of your prepaid, nonrefundable trip costs that you would otherwise lose when you cancel.
NOISE: Although the cabin is very private, we have two other homes on the property as well. Also, other homes may not be visible from there, but sound travels a long distance. We ask that our guests be courteous and not play loud music, especially at night. We are fortunate to have great neighbors and want to keep it that way!
SIZE LIMITATIONS: The cabin is 850 sq ft. so not designed for large groups. We have a FIVE person maximum. It is one large space downstairs and two separate bedrooms above. It has a much larger feel than it's size indicates however, due to a two story loft above. There is also a generously sized mud room/entry with a heated floor to dry out ski boots and stow gear. It is therefore best suited for couples or small families who are looking for a well designed and appointed quality cabin. Anyone looking for a traditional Vermont experience will certainly enjoy the areas offerings and the warmth and intimacy provided in the cabin, but large parties are not allowed.
CAMERAS: We have a pair of "Ring" video cameras which overlook the "public" exterior and give us piece of mind if cabin sits empty for extended periods. It also serves as a means to contact us in the event codes/keys are forgotten, etc. As is the law, there are NO interior cameras or any in private exterior areas (hot tub, porch, patio, etc.). We respect your privacy and will provide an image of what is in their field of view upon request.

Our second time here, and we’ll be back again. The best part about this place is that the owner built it for his family, so everything has been thought through. Cozy stove, hot tub on snowy nights, great home theatre system. Handy to all kinds of skiing.

Clean, cozy and comfy accomodations. We always enjoy the magical feeling of the Vermont mountains. This place is the embodiment of just that. It snowed for our first few days which made the hot tub, views and fire pit even more special.

We had such an amazing trip! We were able to ski Killington, Okemo and Stowe while staying there. The cabin was so cozy and the beds were very comfortable. The host was excellent and checked in to ensure everything was just perfect. The cabin is very charming and it was beautiful to watch the snow fall while sitting in front of the toasty fireplace. 1000 percent would stay again!!! Lots of love went in to making this cabin for sure. It truly felt magical for the week we were there.
This property is beautiful! We arrived just when it started snowing and the views were breathtaking. The host provides you with all of the information you need. We can’t wait to come back!

Loved our stay here! The hot tub, fireplace, and theater was so cozy. The cabin had every convience we could need. The location is prime, right off scenic route 100, and very central to the state. Under 1.5 drive from any picturesque town in the state you could want to see.

This cabin was amazing, homey, cozy, and fully stocked with everything we needed. We loved the little nook, the projector, and the kitchen setup. Everything was super clean, and it was the perfect treat for my partner’s birthday. We also got really lucky with the winter weather so it wasn’t too crazy at all, which made the whole trip even better. There were plenty of nice activities around town, and we enjoyed every moment. We especially loved the fireplace, hot tub, and all the thoughtful touches throughout the cabin. We felt very welcomed and would definitely come back for a second stay!

About the host
Hosted by Jeff
Jeff is a Boston area architect/contractor from Concord, MA. He designed and restored the cabin on his own, working weekends for three years. Initially, his wife was reluctant to tackle such a project, but now done, she is the cabin's biggest fan. Designed and built for his family, Jeff has left no detail undone and enjoys sharing their home here with others.
Why they chose this property
This part of Vermont is close to Boston (less than 3 hours), yet far enough to be in the heart of the pristine Green Mountains. Jeff has been coming to this area since the mid 1970's and dreamed of having a retreat here for 35 years. Skiing is only 15-30 minutes away (4 resorts), and several romantic villages are nearby, giving endless options to explore and enjoy. Being on 10 acres and in Granville, it is also very private and peaceful. Often we just spend the weekend there, relaxing and basking in the cabin's great light and warmth.
What makes this property unique
Although the existing cabin was in sad repair, Jeff saw the potential, and had the vision, tools and skills to make it happen. It is now our favorite place to be and we have established many great relationships there. It is a very active and engaging community, which we love being a part of and welcome others to share in, too!
