About this property
Borders Nat'l Forest & at Trailhead. 3.3 Miles to Winter Park Resort. Sleeps 12
Cozy house in the Town of Winter Park, only a six-minute drive to the ski resort, or take the free Lift Bus to the resort, which stops only a few doors away, and a four-minute drive to downtown Winter Park’s quaint shops and restaurants.
Trails next to property are great for snowmobiles in Winter and RZR (Razors), side-by-sides, ATV's, motorcycles in Summer. The Property is located right at the entrance to the trails!
You will be staying right at the trailhead to the Arapahoe National Forest and have an unobstructed, beautiful mountain view out of the living room windows and from the deck. This is the last house on the left at the end of the road and is right where the forest begins! It is quietly away from the highway, noise and traffic but close enough to everything so that you can easily enjoy all the amenities at Winter Park Resort, downtown Winter Park, Fraser, Tabernash, Granby, and even Grand Lake (which is only 35 miles away, and in the summer, you can go over Colorado’s highest paved road, the 12,183 foot, breathtaking Trail Ridge Road which takes you into Rocky Mountain National Park).
At the end of the driveway, you are on beautiful national forest trails for hiking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing (6 pairs for your use at the house), and bicycling. One of the trails takes you right to the Winter Park ski resort (uphill going but downhill back to the house from the ski resort). Otherwise, the Lift ski shuttle bus comes just a few doors away and will take you for FREE to the ski resort (which is about a twenty-minute ride with stops). You can walk downhill to downtown Winter Park in about nineteen-minutes. You can use any of our many ice skates for ice skating.
There are four bedrooms and a loft. The large master bedroom has a king-size bed, adjoining shower and a two person Jacuzzi bathtub in the master bathroom, the second bedroom has two bunk beds with a full size bed on the bottom of each, the third bedroom has a queen-size bed and the fourth has a queen-size bed, a futon and an adjoining bathroom. There is also a loft with a couch that converts into a queen-size sleeper bed, a TV and glider chair. The living room has two couches, one of which is a Lazy Boy queen-size sleeper bed.
The kitchen has granite countertops, appliances, pots, pans, silverware, utensils, dishes, microwave, toaster oven, and Kurig coffee maker - just like home. You can grill outside year-round on the natural gas grill (no need to buy propane). You will have access to Xfinity Wi-Fi and cable TV, a DVD, and plenty of books and board games for family and friends to enjoy. The fireplace in the living room has a warm, wood burning stove insert. There is a mudroom downstairs to store all your ski and other equipment. There is a foosball table in the mudroom. Our place is smoke and pet free (check with us, though, if you really do need to bring a pet).
When you step off the property, you are in the Arapahoe National Forest where you can snowshoe (we have six pairs for you to use), sled (we have a few of those for you as well), or cross-country ski for a peaceful trek to many quiet and beautiful places. All summer long and before it freezes over in the winter, you can walk 5 minutes up the trail to the little, wooden bridge over Vasquez Creek and enjoy the peaceful, bubbling sounds of a high Rocky Mountain creek cascading down the mountainside. And if you are up for it, you can wade in the ice cold water coming from melting snow. You may even see some wildlife such as deer, moose, elk, chipmunks, bears and foxes.
You will need a 4WD or AWD vehicle during a winter visit to park right by the house. You must travel over a 12,000 foot pass and up some steep inclines when you travel from Denver. The house is at the base of a mountainside. There are two parking spaces next to the house (driveway up is a little steep) and two parking places down a short staircase right by the street (lower driveway in is not as steep).
If you are looking to stay at a pleasant mountain cabin anytime of the year, you and your family will enjoy staying at our place. In the spring through autumn, there are 600 miles of mountain bike trails open for you to enjoy in this mountain bike capital of the world. The ski lift will be operating (check their website for times) and will take you and your bike to the top of the mountain so you can ride down in the summer. Or, you can access this amazing network of mountain bike and hiking trails right out our front door. There are lots of summer activities in Winter Park and all over Grand County. In the winter, enjoy the great snow in this winter wonderland!
Also, you could go a few minutes down the highway to the Grand Park Community Recreation Center in Fraser. They feature a 30-foot climbing wall, 20-foot loop slide, lazy river, hot tub, full weight and cardio room, fitness classes, and much more. There is a bowling alley and movie theater nearby.
Regarding COVID-19, we take it very seriously: We have an iWave air purification in the furnace system. The iWave.com website states, "When the ions come in contact with viruses, bacteria or mold, they remove the hydrogen molecules – without them, the pathogens have no source of energy and will die. The ions also attach to allergens like pollen and other particles, causing them to band together until they are large enough to be caught by your ventilation system’s air filter. iWave’s technology generates the same ions that nature creates with lightening, waterfalls, ocean waves, etc. Nature uses energy and shear to break apart molecules, naturally cleaning the air and producing a healthy environment. " We ALSO have three Pure Air 3000 portable air purifiers, one upstairs and one down stairs, which use four different air purification technologies. Their website is at greentechenv.com says, "Kill mold, mildew, bacteria, viruses, and odors – without lifting a finger! While the naked eye can’t see most of these environmental contaminants, you can rest assured that your PureAir 3000 is working overtime on your behalf to significantly reduce all types of indoor pollution as well as eliminate odors of all kinds, including those from pets, cooking, and smoking." Our cleaners used enhanced cleaning protocols.
