About this property

A studio/efficiency apartment with lots of natural light on the lower level of a recently built house in the beautiful & peaceful western NC mountains. It has a main/great room and separate bathroom. Plus an outdoor patio overlooking the valley. Great place to get away, and still within 15-40 minutes of so much to do.

The space
The community (High Cove) is equidistant from Bakersville, Burnsville and Spruce Pine, NC. Each is less than 20 minutes away. It's also convenient to Penland School of Craft (10-15 minutes), and about 35 minutes from Mount Mitchell., the highest point east of the Mississippi. You can also spend a day in Asheville, a tourist's haven with many attractions, shopping, restaurants, music, art, and more. Downtown Asheville is an hour away.

Guest access
The efficiency apartment is self contained. Other than (perhaps) periodically sharing the washer/dryer in the utility room, the space is all yours.

A real get away

This was a nice place for getting away and unwinding. Like everything in the Smoky Mountains, the route there is windy and curvy. But it’s a quiet small neighborhood once you arrive.

I loved it all, everything Kevin has created is thoughtful and well executed. The setting is fantastic and the short drive from Burnsville both beautiful and easiily navigated. Stay here!! Just check with me first, since I will be back and will have first shot at it!!! ;)

Cozy place, centrally located to great outdoor activities!

Kevin was a fantastic and hospitable host. He made me feel welcome amongst his friends and spent time conversing with me about himself. The location was beautiful and central to many hikes I had planned; Carvers Gap, Mt Mitchell and Linville Gorge. The studio apartment itself was everything I needed, a nice bed, warm shower and full kitchen. I would definitely come back!

Wonderful place

This was perfect for my needs. Kevin made the place very homey and the land was magical. As beautiful as the rain forests of Costa Rica.

I moved to the western NC mountains in late 2017 and spent about a year building a small (green built), efficient house in a beautiful and peaceful area in the Appalachian Mountains. I work for myself as a semi-retired voice actor, and also an active volunteer for multiple organizations. I've traveled a great deal and know what I look for in a good host. I provide the same to my guests.
